Nature Lovers' Thread

longshot

Nice pics everyone. I'm a bit of a nature lover too.

Lovely orchid pics...
Here's a few shots of a place that is home to over 200 different species of orchid. They weren't in flower when I was there unfortunately, but just standing in one of the cradles of life was an experience I will never forget.

Nyungwe, one of the last patches of montane forest left in central Africa:

Speaking of experiences I will never forget...
The guy at the back is the biggest silverback in the world.

No zoom here, I had to lean back to take this shot after the silverback chose to come and sit next to me.

What can I say. It's not the best quality pic, but I took it. I was there.

Just the memory of this has brought tears to my eyes...If ever you get the chance to go and see these animals in the wild, JUST DO IT.

All the best

Thanks, Bongasaurus! I've got a coffee plant too, but can you answer a question for me...

Does your coffee plant have a single stem coming out of the dirt or multiple stems?

I got mine from Gurney's in a single pot with multiple stems last year. I'm thinking I should have separated it. Its doing ok right now, not great, but its indoors just getting window light.

yeah man, just the single stem. more of a trunk though, i want to repot it into something bigger but im kinda tight on space.

where about are you located? im sure ive asked before. but your landscape looks so firmiliar. yet im covered in feet of snow...

I'm over here in the midwest/ohio valley region. Smack-dab in the middle of the corn belt. :rasta:

I knew it about the coffee plant! I emailed gurneys to ask them if it was 1 plant or multiple plants that should be separated. They sent me a standard email with the recommended envt and plant specs.....Corporations :badday:

I'll probably try to separate it once it starts warming up.

Beautiful Pics, need to take my digi with me more often. Saw 2 hawks hunting this morning, shame I couldn't take a pic.

One from last year, an old mossy stump:

And one from December, a nifty triple-decker mushroom:

My cat shakes his leg at the air coming in through the door at pos. 30F. You've got hardcore animals up there I guess! He likes being outside for a long time once he gets used to the cold, but he hesitates at the rush of 30F air.

Great shots though Bong! That cat looks pretty sneaky.... :D

Love those log and fungi shots, flip! Keep em comin!
