Blue Orca is the sister of The One and both were breed back in the mid-80s. They are some of the best quality herb I have come across. I'm not sure about the trippy characteristics description though. She has been a good addition to my stable. For me, I've been around the herb since '66 so I don't find much herb that is 'trippy'. I have gotten feedback from some people that I've shared a bowl with that it is the best they've ever smoked.

I've read where many people think that the marijuana of today is so much stronger than in the past. To me that means they probably only smoked that Mexican rag weed and never came across quality weed. It was around back in the day. So I'm guessing that the ones saying Blue Orca is trippy just haven't been exposed to quality herb. If you're smoking mediocre weed then yes Blue Orca may seem trippy.

That was back in those learning days. This was a Mexican ragweed bag seed grow. Those were about 10-12' tall.

Today is the 5 week mark from when I turned the lights to 11 on and 13 off for flower area 1. I have 3 Goblin Girls and a Blueberry in there. This is the last run for the Blueberry and I pollinated a branch with Eminem and another with MTV.

Who remembers from those days? :chin: It was better than some of the Mexican product. Over the years with the breeding my old grow buddy did it got better.

Those were my least flashy pants I own. I took my jeans and split them up the seams and sewed in different patterns of color and shapes. Those are my lightning bolt ones. My others were way too bright to be participating in such a stealth operation. Did you notice the dark green sweatshirts?

hehe yeah i did. we had the same kind of pants. totally diy. then they got popular and where intentionally made with the flair. I still like bell bottoms. it was a cool look. as a kid I used to run around with a military fatigue style cap and a hand painted peace sign on it.

i still remember seeing a hand painted "impeach Nixon" sign someone wrote with dripping paint from the letters on a blank billboard...

didn't realize those were bell bottoms tho, i thought that was a rip and your bare leg exposed, like the dog nearly won

Love the old pics. Was this in wa?

I smoke everyday so I definetly know where your comming from but there are still good thai, african and central american genetics out there that fit the bill. Lately I have only been interested in plants with 12+ week flowering time as I find they tend to be the only ones with a potent enough high that isn't the same old nl5 or skunk lazy garbage.
Currently I have a Panama Haze (ace) going in my tent that I am super excited about and some zamaladelica in the line up after. From the reports there should be some good trippy phenos with no ceiling

I'm on the hunt for strong, old school sativa highs and havent found much of anything that fits that bill in under 12 weeks but I'm sure they are out there. Was hopeing blue orca was one of them as it would be super cool to find a local one. Right now karma's jack o' nesia and apollo 11 are the only short flowering sativas that come close to what I want.

Blue Orca is a cross of Thai and something out of Kandahar so she is definitely a mix but leaning towards the sativa. The 2 males I got from my old grow buddy are 3/4 Thai and they look it.

It's hard for me to grow sativa in my cellar because of the height restrictions imposed by the ceiling. So I've avoided them but 3M and 3Elders each have taken some of that Thai phenotype.

Yes, those pictures are in the foothills of the Cascades here in the PNW.

They make me smile. You are very lucky to have gotten to live here before the boom. I am 24 and had to watch this place explode when I was a kid so I can only imagine what a playground this place was pre quadrant homes- for a grower with the right genetics.

I was going to ask about blue orcas genetics- thanks for the info.

I heavily train/ scrog my girls to deal with hight restrictions. Much better yeild that way anyways so the extra work pays for itsself.

I do the easy scrog by just bending over the main stem and let those lower branches grow up to the main stem. When I transplant into the 2 gallon pots is when I start bending them over. I can pull down the main stem at this time to be even with the tops of the lower branches. After about a 4-6 weeks I transplant into 5 gallon pots. The lower branches by then have grow up and it is at this time that I can pull the main stem even with the lower branches.

When I transplant I've been pushing the plant to one side so when I pull them over I have more stem exposed going across the diameter of the pot. I used to plant in the middle but I found that moving it over to one side gives a better trained plant.

Anyway that's how I do it and you're free to ignore this.

Thats pretty much what I do most of the time too. Just the right amount of effort to effect ratio.

It's cool to imagine all the "heirloom" strains from the 60s and 70s that are hiding in this state (and all the ones that have been lost and forgoten). Very exciting to be starting some of my own, our climate is so special- as long as you have strong enough mold resistance, we have an awsome canabis growing enviroment. Weird to think I'll be the one one day with the old heirlooms and all my work may disapear after me. Such is life.

Have any more old pics? They give me nice day dreams of simpler times in paradise. I would love to see one with some mountains in the background so I could tell where you were :laughing:

I've got some more pictures but they don't show the mountains. My old grow buddy had small plots from the Sultan Basin down through I-90. That sight was closer to I-90 and was one of his bigger plantings.

I only took one set of pictures and it was scary taking them to the photo developing shop and hope no one recognized what that was. In 1972 not many people were aware of what it looked like and I got the pictures without any problems. I couldn't get away with that today.

So I assume most his plots were on north fork? I know a guy that used to grow along the old sewage sprayers they had up there from the 70s till the early 90s. Calls his strain "weyerhaeuser", it's just an old skunk though- not very interesting but it was cool to grow something thats been around the valley for so long. It's funny to imagine that my dad may have been smoking the herb your buddy grew.

Yeah I was suprised to see the pics as not many growers took that chance back then. Thanks for the little peice of history. I'm kind of a history nerd and local canabis history isn't the easyest to find, so I really appriciate it.

Actually he was all over. Most of his plots were small. He had to find locations that had natural water supply and not easily seen so he put them all over the foothills.

Maybe your dad came across his but probably not. There was lots of marijuana around in the 70s mostly from Mexico.

Your DJ's Blueberry looks absolutely fantastic!
I have unfortunately lost Blueberry, Blue Orca,
Purple Trainwreck, and my Sour Power OG from
Karma G from my few cuttings dying..love being
able to do anything by myself. Leaving my babies
in the hands of others while going back and forth
from lake stevens every weekend, sometimes for
longer, is a lot of constant anxiety when I was away.

I now no longer have to do back and forth travels!
And am starting a healthy rotation for Springtime..
It will be a while before I can use ICmag regularly
again, as using messaging i won't be able to do for
a bit; but Instagram is super easy to use and while
I was moving stuff for and waiting for my girlfriend
to get off work - it was like a religious experience
getting used to and reconnecting with some friends
on IG. I was surprised how many ICmag farmers
were also on there, it's been relieving to look at
more grow journals again...ICmag over the phone
is pretty difficult, especially posting over mobile.

If you want someone to test your Blueberry beans
I am way more than down, I need to pop my TRH
testers Urkle x Super Skunk and (Green Crack x OG)
x Super Skunk.. I really want Headcheese and Orca
back into my life eventually but Blueberry I can always
get a hold of, though I don't really want to talk to the
source of the cut. I could, it's possible, but I'd rather
pop a bunch of beans and see what comes out of it..

Oh and thank you for letting us know the lineage of Orca!

Hey choom, good to hear from you. I'll PM you later.

I just harvested my 3M this morning. I have 2 plants and it has been 56 days since I flipped to 11 on and 13 off. The buds were getting so heavy I was afraid that a branch may break. I know that some growers don't count the first week from flipping but I always have. It's a personal choice and you don't have to follow how I could the days. But if you did these ladies matured in 7 weeks.

I'm a firm believer in using powdered malted barley tea every 2 weeks. It will reduce the time to maturity from my experience.

I'm going to make more of an effort
to post more for messaging abilities
on here, nearly halfway there, but am
more than halfway good with getting
the rotation healthy and stable..A lot
of new strains on top of getting shit
back together, looking for sativa still.

Catpiss
Sno Cap
Dharma Diesel
Chemmy Jones
Cheese Candy
Master Kush
Chemwreck
Blueberry Trainwreck
Alien Stardawg
Purple Treat

---here are some of my old cuts
NL5
Querkle
Big Bottom Leaf
Flowerchild #3 (decided that 3 wins VS #7 & #5)
Super Lemon Haze (not for flower, $$ clones)
Sweet & Sour White Widow

I am wanting to have the 7 - 13 greatest
strains remaining when I have completed
fighting over which are consistently dank.
I still have a lot of beans to crack as well..

Ill keep posting, and always on instagram.

Hey chap - I put 3x Goblin Girl (var.) x MTV into root riots a day ago after soaking for 24hrs. One of the seeds was cracked during the 24hrs which surprised me. I'm hoping for a good sativa dominant female.
