Got a couple Grape-stinkers in the lot. Couple are starting to purple. I saw the buds from a short distance away, thought there was wrong, closer look...purpling on the bottoms of the newer calyx. Just about to that half-way marker.

They are all sweet & strong aroma. I'll grab some pics along with all the outdoor fun I planted out today.

I'll stop by in the next day or two. I'm planting more vegetable seeds and getting ready to call it a night.

I've always admired the work you put into that room of yours. I've never done hydro myself. I was going to switch over but I got hooked on organics and mixing my own soil.

Looking forward to the pictures. I may run that Purple Star and the Old Goblin outdoors this summer. Still deciding on the line up.

I always say to pay attention to your plants and they will teach you how to grow them. I've never had issues with PM until I brought those dispensary clones into my cellar. I've had bud rot issues on the outdoor girls but that is to be expected when the weather changes here in the PNW.

So I'm learning how to deal with PM in the cellar. I haven't eradicated it but I have learned to control it to the fan leaves. PM hasn't been showing up in my plants until they are flipped and about 1/2 through their maturity cycle. I spray them daily and this reduces the spread. Unfortunately my tweeners have been infected and I haven't been able to contain it. At one time I thought that PM was systemic but with further research I found that it isn't. PM is a fungi and like all fungi it will produce mycelium. This mycelium grows along the surface of the plant and sends haustoria (root-like structures) in the epidermal cells of the plant.

Now my tweeners have been hit hard with PM and I just can't control it with either Serenade, Actinovate or baking soda. I've been hitting them daily with an extreme soaking but the mycelium/haustoria is firmly established. While it is knocked down within 12 hours or so it is back. Here are my tweeners just before I chopped them.

If you look closely at the nearest plant you can see what the PM looks like on the fan leaves. Here is a better picture of that.

It is obvious that the PM is well established on the fan leaves. This is why I decided to cut my losses and toss these girls. I have some issues with my ladies in the flower rooms but they aren't too bad at the moment. These will hit 8 weeks on June 15.

I took a close up picture so you could see what I'm talking about. Notice that there is some PM at the base of the leaf. It hasn't spread out of the veins. When it is in this state I'm guessing that the mycelium/haustoria hasn't gotten a good foot hold yet. When I spray these plants it kills the fruiting portion that produces the spores and slows down the spread of PM. I still hit these daily but it is no where near what the tweeners have experienced.

I don't have anything else to go on but my observations so all of this may be subjective wishfulness. As long as it stays out of the buds I'll be happy. My last seed run only one of the plants showed PM in the buds. I'm crossing my fingers.

PM from my understanding is any ever present spore in the air, just needs the right conditions to grab hold and prosper. When dealing with my first run in with it, I removed or cleaned leaves, and repeatedly cleaned the stems (where I found it usually crept out of). You need some of that dry air that those CO guys are always having to deal with!

Sorry you had to cull some plants bud, they look like they are awaiting the firing squad...

right... I'm spraying my walls 2x a day with water and I have a situation involving a rag a bucket and an industrial fan trying to increase my RH

With the nursery business here in the PNW (Washington and Oregon) and all the importing they do there are over 300 varieties of PM here. I know that it is floating around in the air much like the spider mites. It's just one of the issues that growing cannabis brings.

Culling those tweeners was the right decision. Tomorrow I start cleaning up the tweener area.

I have 3 ladies in their final days. None of these have had any real issue with PM so I'm glad for that. I harvested The One the other day because it was having some PM issues. All of these including The One are seed mothers. So I don't care that much whether I get much bud or not. I think I will get bud though. I'll show these last 3 in separate posts. First up is Northern Lights #5. This lady has some of the fattest, tightest buds I've ever grown. I'm not a big fan of tight buds because they are so hard to break apart for rolling joints. I grew this years ago until I lost it but I don't remember it having these buds. Even the lower ones are bigger than some of the top buds on my other ladies.

This next lady is Nocturnal. I grew her from a seed and this is my third run with her. This is the best run I've had and I really like the shape of her. I'm sorry that the picture is a little fuzzy.

My final lady is Goblin Queen. She is showing a lot of yellowing fan leaves so I think my soil isn't quite up to par but I'll reamend it I recycle the soil. All 3 of these ladies are slowing down on their drinking and I'll probably chop them this coming weekend.
