When you see a bust on tv that they say is major, and the cops confinscated xx dollars, and the plant were worth xx dollars, and it looks like the person as been doing it for xx time, the IRS is going to come to you and say that you owe them the maximum for all of those assumptions. You may have to prove that you didn't make that much. In the mean time the cops and the IRS are after all of your assets. People that get busted often lose every single thing the own no matter how large or small it is. People that come out of prison have the clothes on their back.

Yup!! My buddy is fighting his case, seven hundred and something plants...they are saying he owes taxes on $4 million!!

Dude, he doesn't even need to get a lawyer. All he has to say is that he was moving some money that he's been saving for years, to a safer location. He'll need to give up his SSN# because of Title 31, which basicaly is the Fed's way of tracking money to prevent laundering. Any dollar amount over 10k that is exchanged in the U.S. has to be tracked with the person's SSN#. If your friend has no priors, and didn't have or do anything illegal when it was taken, they cant do shit. I might be thinking about getting a lawer to sue their asses though. I cant stand dick head cops! :fsu:

Julian good info as usual.. I def agree that people spend more time on making the money then they do planning what to do with it.. I knew a few people who blew up fast and because of lack of planning had no idea what to do with the money.. Not only how to put it to use but just what to do with it literally.. Cash is bulky.. Especially if you have bills in low denomonations.. It can be tricky.. HAHA I had one friend who tried to use the casinos to exchange money.. We were young and naive back then.. So then when he hit big he had to pay somebody to declare it because he would have been stuck paying taxes on the winnings.. Money is great but when your making alot and especially if your young or new to it, it can become a big problem if unprepared how to deal with it.. Bottom line get family and friends with good credit to Re-fi on there homes and use that xtra money to open up concessions, bars, pizza places and neighborhood resturants.. All cash businesses that usually make daily/weekly deposits of cash...

Holy shit dude, best of luck to your friend. If they refuse to tax and regulate it, they should stop implementing that people are evading taxes. How can you pay them if they won't let you?

Another amazing thing, people that believe you can go to jail for actually paying your taxes! Unbe-fucking-lievable!

HydroManiac, either your friend lied to you, or you misunderstood, or you're just making the whole thing up.

No I am not making it all up! I talked with somebody that knows more about this then I do and was told he was also convicted of bank fraud from what I was told he altered some documents among other things to get a account and I guess they found out about this after he had already made a false statement in court that he had never done anything like that. Rather then calling people liars which just starts problems wouldn't it be better to say that maybe I was missing something!

No, you do have to prove something...that you have a legitimate reason for having 20k

Why don't you stick to subjects you know badmf? You ARE required to tell them where the money came from or is going. It's called a civil forfeiture and their are laws against moving cash around if it's over 10k... But again, it's a civil law not a criminal one. No one will get charged but they'll keep your money.

Show me the LAW that states these requirements!
http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/asset/legal.htm there were no grounds for this action! Notice!! This is a link to the FBI's site so if ou don't want to go there don't go there!

My buddy got pulled over, he had nothing on him but cash. they illegaly searched the vehicle found the 20k and wrote him up a slip saying how much they had taken from him. if he was not arrested for anything and was let go at that scene then can he get the money back in court with a good lawyer? no priors or anything.

of course my boy got caught with an hp and 4 gs on him and they gave him money back because he was pulled over illegaly...they even gave him the scale back but not the bud obv. im sure he will be fine since he was pulled over illegaly and he had nothing else on him

Show me the LAW that states these requirements!

It was posted in this thread a while back.

It wasn't a LAW Per Se but an Eighth Circuit court ruling, similar to many the SCOTUS has made.

These rulings essentially become law.

That's the fucked up thing about this country is that a law can start off one way (in a good way) but then the SCOTUS can essentially reverse it and then the SCOTUS ruling stands, not the law, so essentially the SCOTUS makes the laws of the land.

lol, and you wonder why the SCOTUS confirmation hearings are such a big deal.

Because once confirmed, these people become the law makers of the US UNTIL THEY DIE (or decide to step off the bench, which is always a long time coming).

IOW, laws will come and go but they will always be there making the final ruling.

What, you didn't know that 9 people run the entire US? lol
