i rarely put in full days (a fact which is often lamented by byf). But still, few hours every day definitely adds up after a few months on the hill.

Whats your take on pruning those monsters in the mounds, how much and how often?

Took the words right out of my mouth, I was just gonna ask when does he starts pruning inside the plant and how often after that?

I've already pruned sucker branches in the center of my plants three times now, I was just wondering if there is any benefits to waiting till a certain point to start pruning?

I also wonder which growth to leave. You got the main branches off the stalk, then the secondary branches coming off the main branches. In the beginning i 'lollipop' the main branches, leaving fans but removing all tips besides the very top three, but at somepoint youhave to let some of those secondary branches start filling empty space. I guessit depends on the internodal space on the stalk.

Everythings looking super healthy and happy. I believe you just may have the best year, yield wise, yet! Congratz on a great start. All that hard work will sure pay off in the end.
My AOG f2's are still just seedlings. They will get planted in 20gln pots and thrown outside to flower.
i'm more concerned with quality than yield. a 12 pound plant with PM issues is not as nice as a pristine 8-pounder . good luck with your AOG's, get ready for the stretch!

I usually wait to do any pruning until the plants are well-established in their final homes. This year we did the first round of pruning about a month ago, at the beginning of june, about 3 months after germination and 1 month after transplanting. They will need it again sometime this month, and possibly once more as they enter flowering.

We do a pretty extensive pruning of all the inner branches and growth tips, even small ones. Not the fan-leaves though. Tom Hill called this the "pistil-whip" technique. Some strains require more aggressive pruning while some require very little. The goal is to clean out all the growth that will not receive light, or cannot support itself.

I dont lollipop the main branches although most big-plant growers do, i find that even the bottom branches of a big plant can fill out in my garden. It's kind of strain dependent but usually each main branch gets the first 3-4 shoots pruned off... more on the lowers and less on the middle branches. the top of the plant stays untouched always, pretty much.

Hey shcrews, thanks for the detailed reply, I've been pruning pretty much the way you described, I guess I just started sooner and a little more frequently.

Do you see more lateral grow catching up and filling in holes when you wait longer to prune, if that makes sense?

Your hard work will def. pay off in the long run, plants look like they love the attention and good vibes you been giving them so far

That there is what we call a trip hazard in industry. You don't want your Queen and helper getting hurt. I have seen some nasty injuries from same level falls, such as compound fractures.

Your plants and you gal look beautiful. I hope doggie is doing well too.

got the dripline taken care of, no worries. everyone is fine here. stick around!

What time of year do you see stretch starting? Mid to late July seems like it for me
yah that sounds about right.

pruning is always good if you do it right, but spring is busy and we never get a chance to prune the plants until they are in the ground. It doesn't seem very urgent until they get big enough to shade out the inner growth
