Nice job as always Schrews! What ya got planned for vacation?

going to hawaii and visit my lady. probably wont do much other travelling, definitely going to Emerald Cup and might do something for New Years but mainly i want to do this AOG seed project. might do an indoor grow over the winter too. I have a place in Santa Cruz and i like to spend time there in the off season, training jiu jitsu and taking my dog to the beach. that's a good vacation for me.

Schrews what do you think was the downfall that brought down the yield? Not that you didnt crush it by any means. Just kinda curious.

Schrews...quality was driven by your high Ca numbers but yield was limited by that low K you had. It is always a fine line between the two. Learn to use that K sap meter next year and you can get much closer.

^that...

Ok shcrews, you said at some point in your thread that your plants were bigger than last year, but now you're saying you didn't quite yield as much-- where do you think the slowdown occurred? What do you think held them back?\

yah it's odd to me that although my biggest plants this year did not yield as much, they were just as large as the big double-digit plants last year. Not sure where the extra weight went. maybe the buds just arent as dense. Nothing "held them back", they are healthier this year and just as big , but the scale did not reflect that.

very nice Screws! :tiphat:
I see 3 ancient OG phenos on this page..,:woohoo:
and they all look fabulous. :jump:
But from what I can tell .... the second one with the best smell, not much stretch and the thick buds looks and sounds like its the winner.
its so neat to see all the different phenos side by side!
It must be fun to do the smoke reports and note their subtle differences. You must be super organized to keep track of everything.
So what is your method of madness..? . Do you grow em out , note the smell, structure, difficulty/ease of growing and keep some clones of them somewhere. Like if you get a real winner, how do you duplicate it for next season, or maybe you never do that?
Great Season! Keep up the sick work.:thank you: and hats off to your trimmer! they are doing such a great job! :tiphat:
trying all the different plants is my favorite part of harvest. i dont really take notes, my memory is really on point when it comes to ganja. i remember strains and smells from long ago.

that short Ancient OG plant was really nice and gassy, but after drying and trimming it, it's not what i am looking for. I did find my holy grail though. one particular Ancient OG (lucky number seven) is the whole package. size, structure, flavor, potency, visual appeal. I saved a clone of it and it is now a mother plant ready to give her first round of cuttings. That will be the basis for my breeding project this winter. my goal is to stabilize the Ancient OG with that particular pheno in mind.

Seriously dude... I love you starting a new seed business. Think about it... I believe it is the future. A lot of new growers might be starting after November. Best wishes for the future and all. Peace sdd

You should stay in the seed business too
i have no interest in profiting from seed ,

if i was a breeder and put more time into perfecting my own strains , could be a different story . but i,d need a lot better understanding of genetics and many other things associated with growing

but i enjoy growing respectable breeders seeds and finding new things .

many thanks anyways

@Shcrews I'm immpresed in your grows!! I fall in love with all your plant' s and insane photos :tiphat: amazing art work!

I have some questions for you :) i woundering what type of plant are you useing for living mulch? I looking for optimal combination of them.

How you are drying so huge plants? Are you trimming them wet or dryed?

thanks for answers! sending good vibes to you :thank you:

Keep me in mind for that AOG project. I also found the best female in three years growing the AOG. Let me know if you want to work with her as well. I will get those buds tested here soon, so you can see what you are working with. Got two clones, one OG dom and tested at 24%, the other still hanging.

All the plants are chopped. it's still a trim scene over here. Almost done. should finish by this weeekend. It's been a lot of fun, i had some really cool people helping me this year. no drama, just good vibes and work gets done. I will miss having company up here. It's the same every year, a really eery feeling; after harvest i am the only one left up here at the farm, all the plants are chopped and winter is coming, the days get shorter and it is just so desolate.

I want to set up an indoor grow over the winter. nothing major, maybe just 6 or 8 lights. All my Ancient OG moms are ready to give their first round of cuts. when those are rooted I will use them for the indoor grow. Also going to sprout some of my Ancient OG F2's to cross with my keeper AOG f1 cut. it's good to stay busy over the winter, keeps me from getting soft. But i do need to decompress after the season. especially crucial this year since i went to burning man and symbiosis in the same month, then started harvest right after.. so been going hard for months. Once i sell some of this weed and set up my indoor garden i think it's time for a vacation somewhere tropical. my lady wants me to visit her in hawaii so now i just have to figure out how to get away for a couple weeks.

I'm not really sure if starting a seed business, or any kind of business, is right for me. Am at a weird point in my life where a lot of things are changing and i'm not exactly certain what to do. Anyway there's a lot of people who know a lot more about breeding than i do. I just want to preserve and evolve some specific genetic lines. Maybe if i give out some testers and get good feedback i will think about selling seeds but idk about starting a company or anything.

as you said, if Prop 64 passes, november will bring lots of new growers. I'm not sure what my place would be in the new legal economy. I would like to keep growing as much as i can but I really hate dealing with paperwork, legal BS, deadlines, penalties, .... (a real job)... something i always tried to avoid.... Seems like a shift it happening. They already passed sweeping legislation to regulate the medical cannabis industry which goes into effect next year. I'm not clear on what any of it means. sucks because i just want to grow a bunch of great weed!

I was sort of thinking about buying my farm... but with all the legal changes going on i dont want to make any major decisions until the dust settles. IDK how this county is going to regulate growing in the future. there are other, more cannabis-friendly, areas but i like the climate and location better here. I would hate to buy a place that i can't use to its full potential. Also this property is pretty nice, great exposure and beautiful but the house definitely needs some work. he quoted me a pretty good price though.

I have a lot of ideas for 2017 but i have to wait and see how everything unravels. i hate that feeling, i never have any stability , it's pretty brutal, very counterproductive and not conducive to creativity.
