real grass growing in the pots.. gonna be a pain to amend the soil with this on top. i tried pulling it but that's a waste of time. guess i can dig it out but then the top layer of soil goes with it...

It's funny how there's no real grass anywhere on the property, just fucked up weeds and foxtails... and then grass randomly starts growing in the only place where i don't want it.

Just turn it under. The minerals in it belong to you...take them and some carbon back

You should just fold that shit in with a shovel mix it and break it up and keep it with your soil

Chuck some gypsum, horseshit and hay where you want grass to grow. The seeds are obviously there...you just need fertility and/or better soil structure

The grass in the pot looks like Bermuda grass. It spreads through stolons and rhizomes, fairly tough to get rid of. Whatever you do don't till it in because you would be distributing it by doing so. If it was my issue I'd remove as much as possible at least a foot deep, and remove it all away from the container for 7-10 feet around the spot. It got in the pot because it was close enough to reach it. You'll still have to keep pulling it throughout the season because it will return, maybe not as strong as at first, but it will be back next year despite above listed efforts.

Even if it does come back if your weed cannot outgrow it and shade it out you got bigger problems than Bermuda grass.

The first yr i planted on my hill It had wild weeds & such-- i turned them in ,that first yr was the biggest plants iv grown, planted like may 20th grew to over 12 ft & like 7 units ea ,to me they were crazy huge, , Pretty incredible considering when they were started at that time ! I believe if turned in about 2-3 weeks ahead of time there probly better for soil that anything else you could add ,, Including kelp! & i am a kelp lover!!! ,But i might have special soil as i also had a pumpkin plant that grew 24 inchs in 24 hours, yes 1 inch per hour!!

wait so the so you're saying DON'T till it in, and the grass is a bad thing and it's gonna be a problem forever? sweet

if i dig out the top foot of soil i would basically have empty pots...

that grass was growing in the pots last summer and the plants were ok but i really dont know much about it

Sorry if that came off as an insult. I was laughing cause no way Bermuda grass is gonna be a problem for your plants. They will way outgrow the grass eventually shading it out.

It ain't gonna be a problem. turn it under, it will grow back but by that time no worries. And what is left over at the end of the season will just feed your microbes. Free cover crop. I like when things like this happen.

Yeah, no getting rid of bermuda without round-up and that would ruin your soil.
I agree the bermuda shouldn't be any problem, but it will never go away.
Just till it like you said, amend and let it grow back as mulch.
