yeah, crop protection is a juggling act. here, it's going to need vented out almost every day {maybe even shade ~even in the spring} & closed up at night during spring/fall

that's where you could use a thermometer that alarms for highs & lows. i bet there's something that would call your phone?

a dedicated greenhouse would use a large ventilating exhaust fan that comes on at higher temps via thermostat control

Bummer on the starts shcrews, maybe they will bounce back though.

I think you should have just used real GH fabric. I have had bad experiences with that Home Depot plastic as well. A couple years ago I bought the 'clear' plastic and the plants just weren't going for it. After a while I noticed that the plastic was actually casting a shadow, and was allowing minimal sunlight through. I know there's other clear plastic that will work better, but the stuff I tried using was not very good for tying to grow plants.

At least it's not to late, and you can always triple plant again!

i fab'd up a mini hoop house a few years back. no sooner did i get it finished & populated & we got a windstorm that just demolished my poor little hoop house. i'm going to have to figure something for light dep & that late season i need to protect during the night is when the wind will be an issue

it's a quandary

Shcrews, what happened exactly? I want to make sure it doesn't happen to me lol. Did water pool or Did wind catch the plastic and yank a hoop off the rebar?

i should have got a decent structure instead of pvc

:yeahthats or just a little reinforcement and cross members (sorry I have an Architectural Drafting and Cad /Cam degree) might have helped!

Man we got some serious rain and wind even here in the 831 brah...

Damn that fucking sucks! Hoop houses can be built very sturdy they were first used in like kansas [?] where the wind and rain is intense. I cant believe my crackhouse is still standing honestly. I would use some rope to tie and stake the other one down. I've used 2'x4's and 2x2's screwed into the top of the pvc too for more support.

Edit p.s dude yellow and drooping could also be deficiency I was seeing this before I sprayed the micros

if you anchor the plastic with concrete blocks or large rocks it will keep it from blowing away as long as the openings are 90-95% closed. Any reinforcement like adding a baseboard on both sides and overhead support will only help. Greenhouse is basically a solar heater if the sun is out, have to juggle temp management somehow. Maybe put up a fence section or two to take the worst of prevailing winds. I've never used pvc but have made several out of metal conduit that I bend.

Last year the location of my grow was so windynamic that the trees literally grow at an angle...

We used carports and got plastic for greenhouses and put it over them. We drove t posts into the ground at an angle and used a ratchet strap to hold the spine of the carport down. They lasted all winter, we just took them down.

cool, have any pics of that you can share?

It seams like when I've burned starts they stay dark lush green with burnt leaves....

This. Or you see bleach white spots. spray borax at 30ml/gal until dripping in the evening. Then wash the leaves off with some water or another micronutrient youre deficient in. I used epsom. The leaves dont like borax to stay on them too long.
