MotherLode Gardens 2015

Excuse in advance if this question is ignorant or has been answered already.

If these smarties started with the same soil. Wouldn't most beds or containers have similar test results as the rest? Or does running different strains vary the results significantly from one container to the other? Or does each strain deplete more of one nutrient than another strain would?

I thought someone else might know but I would guess factors like strain preference, erosion from rainfall, stuff like that. I just see a few guys use this when they have multiple beds. You're supposed to take six samples from each area to see what part of your garden needs what. I haven't seen much talk about what they do exactly. I would just take several samples from one bed, mix together and that would be the sample. Maybe someone else knows better. Here's an example: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=6466797&postcount=6

@schrews

I was very satisfied with soil testing through Dirty Business in Eureka. They're local, tailored specifically to our crop, and have multiple levels of specificity of testing. You can even pay up front to have a consultation with a soil scientist about your results, and get some impressively detailed education on the finer points of soil building. Can't remember the prices, but they were with it.

P.S.- I too am in gold country, growin 'em big. Recently started crawling out from under my rock to see how this whole forum thing works, and was pleasantly surprised to see I'm not alone out here! Rooting for you and your garden this year.

Schrews, quick question have you run the ancient og indoor? Sounds like to much variations for indoor.could be a game changing pheno with the right selection.I've never run seeds always cones so the pheno hunt is foreign to me

I ran a cut of our 10lb ancient OG indoors, but not the 12lb one. It did well inside, crazy resin production, but instead of traditional OG flavor it has more of a candy/lemon flavor. yield-wise it was average. The Ancient is similar to the Goji OG if you want something to compare to.e

last year we top-dressed with neem meal but i want to mix it in this year. I forget the amount we used but i will try to find that info, or you can check my threaad from last year if you dont want to wait, or look up boobs mix / coots mix

thanks dude. i'm looking forward to starting work soon. Got my weedwacker out today for a little test run, it still runs so i'm gonna clear the hillside next week, the grass is already like 2 feet tall and it's barely march! after that, time to move/mix dirt and for that i have people to help me.

still need to get my soil analyzed so i know what to mix in. I was in santa cruz for most of last month playing music training jiu jitsu and enjoying the warm winter weather at the beach. was a nice little vacation but i definitely been slacking here at the farm.. I do have a 6kw OG grow thats about to harvest though so that's nice.

Hey Shrews been creepin your sight and it got me motivated to get on some bohdi gear. So far got
Ancient og
Blueberry hashplant
Dream beaver
Snow wookie
Jabas stash
Also got a pack of tangi banana from Crockett
Anyways I ended up coming up on a tray of the ancient OG& i have an 8x8 bed for each of my plants and sup lighting. do you think an ancient clone could get to that 10+ mark or would you stick with all beans?

Hey shcrews. was looking at your last years (or year before) grow and it sounds like you need to mulch your pots and dig them into the ground to protect the roots from heat. I have seen many grows in the desert with 100+ temps and low humidity all summer long and they do fine as long as the roots are kept cool.
My bad if this is something you already started doing, just saw an old thread and looked like you just had air pots sitting above ground with no mulch, so I figured I would suggest something that would help.
Happy spring!

Snow Wookie mmmmm i havent tried it yet but the wookie is some serious lavender funk.

good selection for sure, if you are running those in 8x8 beds you will get some monsters. If you want big yield from the Ancients then probably stick with all seeds, unless you have some previous experience with the clones.

thanks VK, you were probably lookiing at my 2013 grow which was fucked.

last year we crushed it with a custom soil mix and bodhi genetics. Didn't use mulch but there is lots of lava rock in the mix which gives the pots a nice top layer, i can even walk on it :dance013:

just got back to the farm after a week in LA. that place is crazy, i grew up there and i still dont' know how people can stand living there. I'll be here for a couple days doing work, then santa cruz for the weekend for some real fun time, i.e. redwoods, beach, ocean, jiu jitsu, food, girls, friends, music, dogs, ya know all the usual santa cruz shit. Tryin to get it in now before work time starts.

what strains do you find yourself smoking the most of from last year?
thats easy, from bodhi the Wookie and Solo's stash have the best flavor. I've been smoking a lot of the Flo x OG from rare dankness too, that stuff is strong.

i wish we grew more strains last year. even this season i can't grow half the ones i want because of plant limits

light dep would be nice but definitely would put me over my numbers. Right now we are trying to be very legal. Last year the sheriff showed up in march counting plants so this spring i'm going stealth mode, hiding all my seedlings until i can sex them and plant 24 of the best females.

i figure once i have 24 big pots filled, i can worry about light dep and other small stuff that i could chop if the cops came. Also i have my hands pretty full right now , and pulling tarp everyday sounds kinda shitty.

i am harvesting 6 lights of OG next week so i might try to squeeze another indoor cycle in, but i dont really care if it doesnt happen. money isn't everything, i am trying to keep my life in balance.

today is definitely not a work day haha. I just got a new toy to play with
