I have applied -29.5" of Hg to my system for 30 minutes and it holds, but when I apply 75 Psi of pressure I found the appion g5 is leaking. My operating PSI during a run is around 15 PSI and on my column dump I have lots of trouble going from -10" to -22" of Hg. I was able to achieve that on my very first use, but since that it seems to get around -19" maybe -20" then drop to -16" and after that the best I'll see is -18" even after running for an hour. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any help, suggestions, tips would be greatly appreciated
Have you done a pressure test on the appion via manufacturers instructions?
unhook your hoses and close the outlet all the way, leave the inlet open
( i leave the filter drier on )
turn on the appion, it should build pressure in the second guage all the way up to 550 psi and then automatically shut off.

Yes I did that test, built 550 psi and turned off. Took less then one minute, but when the g5 is turned off and I try to pressurize the system as a whole it leaks, although it will hold vacuum. Another thing I noticed was very low operating pressure during my extractions. I'm consistently see a high of 15 PSI while others report their pressure upwards of 45 PSI

yep. The higher it gets usually means there is too much pressure in your recovery tank or it is too full.

~15 PSI here as well.
Sometimes my G5 never makes it out of the low pressure bars into the real numbers, but it has been pretty cold when working lately. Same goes for the Terp also when its cold ambient temps pressure only climbs to maybe 15psi ever. with about a 75deg. bath.
SDgrower, you can do a pressure bleed down test that will isolate whether the issue is on the inlet side of the compressor or downstream of the outlet valve in the cylinder head.
Take your butane tank and warm it up with hot water to 80-110f or so. That'll give at least 60psi.
The gauges on the Appion are little more than decoration and somewhat useless so an external gauge on the inlet side might be in order. Or replace the inlet gauge with something that works.
Anyway, connect a hose from the vapor port on the storage tank to the Appion inlet. Close the outlet valve and open the inlet valve.
Open the vapor valve on the tank to pressurize the unit.
Now if you do this in a quiet area you might hear where the leak is coming from. Otherwise, close the valve on the storage tank leaving the inlet valve on the Appion Open.
Watch the inlet pressure gauge. If the inlet gauge drops rapidly and the outlet gauge stays put you either have a failed cylinder head o-ring or leaky piston rings. The cylinder head valve will keep the pressure downstream of the cylinder head and in the condenser.
If both gauges drop at the same rate you may have a crack in the condenser.
Window cleaner makes a decent leak detector. Take the covers off and spray some Windex around the connections and the top of the cylinder head. Look for bubbles obviously but if the leak is really big it'll just blow away the windex...

I always wondered what the deal with the inlet gauge is. Mine has literally never moved..
Ok, now this thing is driving me nuts. I hooked up my air compressor to the G5 liquid inlet, closed the vapor outlet and pressurized the g5 to 75 PSI and now it holds without leaking. Since I had already taken the G5 apart I started looking at the internals very closely and found this on the vapor side.....

grab your tool kit and some alchohol...My buddy and I ended up blasting butane through the inlet and outlet after taking it apart. We just used a can tapper and a whip it hose extension w/ a ball valve. You might need a seal replacement kit, hopefully not the whole compressor rebuild kit.
