Seems like everyone building extractors are also building their sites at the same time as they are all "Under construction" wonder if it's the same guy building them all, lol
Built a no machine lil terp, and running an 18 inch column, with heating and cooling took forever. Aggravation from icing one end, and making sure other end does not get too hot, is not worth it.
Have not heard the Appion run yet. Hope it is not extreme.

Loc Dog, regarding noise check you tube there's plenty of HVAC vids on the Appion and others, no r/c pump I know of that uses a motor or piston design is silent, so buy ear plugs. And always best to learn passive mode, because when your pump has issues mid run you will be using passive mode if you don't have back up pump.

Finally I got one MkIIIA assembled. Was difficult to import all pieces to Spain without paying lots of taxes but fortunately I was able to do it.
Right now the system runs a 18" column. For the recovery I modified an old kegerator. The bath for the recovery tank is always at 0ºC, The Kegerator's refrigeration system takes the heat out of water.
Thanks to icmag but specially to GrayWolf & Skunkpharm. I have been reading you since 08-09. You teached us the manner to analyse the things with the scientific insight.

I agree. But when I was using a generator for power I was spending about the same a day on butane as I was on ice and gasoline. Never again! Lol

Thanks for all the great work GW, you are an inspiration to us all. I have a couple of quick questions, do the pipes dropping into the tank off the lid have to be 1" from the bottom for the system to work? And can you use a standard braided SS brake line instead of the paramount supply tubing?
The central down pipe is half of a 1 1/2" X 12" sanitary tube and the vent tube is 1/4" Schedule 40 pipe. Their size is not critical, but recovery of the butane from the column is faster with larger openings and the vent tube needs to be as big or bigger than the vent line.
Depends on the brake line. Stainless over braided PTFE brake lines, with stainless fittings, will work if they are large enough. If you are running subzero extractions, you will want at least a 3/8" vent line.
The Mk IV's and V's all use a 3/8" stainless over braided PTFE hose custom made vent hoses for the purpose.
Yes, that is what stainless over braided PTFE hose means heah in the back woods. None of the hose manufacturers have ever asked me to explain.
I'm pretty sure that if you told the hose manufacturer that you wanted braided stainless over PTFE, he would under stand what you meant as well, as many of them are bilingual or at least cunning linguist.

Thanks for the quick response, just to clarify the pipe and the cut sanitary spool DON'T have to extend almost to the bottom of the collection tank?

They don't HAVE to be for the machine to operate. Although, the longer the dip tubes are, the less likely it is for oil laden butane to become aspirated into your recovery pump. (potentially fatal for the pump!)
On the Mk IV and V, they extend 9.5" into a 12" space, leaving them 2.5" above the bottom.

Got the six inch tank and it is working like a champ. It helps that I now have the right connections hooked up, was trying to fill from the vapor side not the liquid. Thanks again for the help!

are you still using the CPS 6 CFM now that you''re running the TVO2? i see they have a nice package deal with the TVO2 + Welch pump for a little over $7k and was wondering if going with the CPS instead of the Welch what other parts would be needed.
was also thinking about the AI Elite, but they are the same price as the TVO2.
