Chlorine is very rarely a problem, when chlorine is 'deficient' plants wilt more readily, it manifests as wilted leaves, excessive lateral root branching, 'bronzing' of the leaves, chlorotic with a bronze color.

Stunted root growth and burning of leaf tips are signs along with leaf drop and poor growth which are common symptoms.

'Toxicity' results from the excessive application of chloride salts and the high presence of chloride salts in irrigation water, the latter is a serious problem.

With high concentration of dissolved substances plants cannot obtain enough water, thereby causing the plants to wilt.

The optimum levels for chlorine is 'unknown' for most plants.

Chlorine effects the hydration of plant cells, it balances the charge of positive ions in cation transport.

Many people make the common mistake of confusing the plant nutrient chloride (Cl-), with the toxic form chlorine (Cl). Chlorine is not the form that plants use.

plants will grow bigger and faster with a longer night cycle

plants will be shorter and stockier with 24/7

experience will always trump book readers

Med-Mad that is BS. I grow plants under a 24 hour period because it is indeed faster. They are somewhat stronger also.

Secondly flowering on 24 hours is crazy... Think what it would cost.

I'm getting tired of your nonsense lol. Carry on and you can be the next Tim Hill.

Nobody wants to experience your death tables.....

My experience tells me placement of light and genetics affect the plant structure more than day/night cycle.

Short and stocky is close to the light. Stretchy is farther from bulb. Side lighting fills in the lower part of the plant more than light from above will.

Indica is naturally short and stocky but can be caused to stretch with higher
lighting.

Sativa is naturally lanky but can be filled in with intense side lighting.

^^ Yeah Ichabod Crane know's his stuff.

AmmCan obviously don't, they shoulda sent this Med-Man dude to horticultural school before jumping in the deep end with a nursery school kid. Next time he wonders down the yellow brick road talking about the tin man.

I'll be pulling the rabbit out the had don't worry......

Haha I make Krunch look like a rookie when it comes to killing plants.

I am the grim reaper to my plants quite often. I can hear them whisper with dread in my grow. Oh no its him.

Thanks for the thread krunch even though it didn't go to plan I think we all learnt something along the way

Thanks for seeing it through to the end:tiphat:

Already filling the room back up...

DHN The White and Chem 4...

Using 7 gallon smart pots filled with VERMIFIRE. I love Vermifire and dont see many people using it. Its Vermicrop soil with added nutrients and mychos. Cant plant seedlings or clones into it or it will burn, has to be established plants...

Havent used Vermifire indoors. But my outdoor crop did very well in it, 4 plants = 7 lbs...

Thank you Krunch! Vermifire is killer and it costs about as much as ocean forest here in Sac ($11/bag). It will fry clones and smaller plants indoors. I use Happy Frog now for my smaller plants.

I have learned a lot from you over the years and appreciate this thread as I learned more again. It's a funny coincidence we both switched to vermifire indoors at about the same time.

Soil huh KB? Damn man u switch up shit as much as I do. It is fun and keeps u interested. But u do have set backs and learning curves. but if we don't try anything new how are we gonna improve. I guess u have thought like me though, if u just dialed in the best way u have grown how much further along u would be. Cool man, u gonna start a new thread for the vermifire then?

Well well now who's misunderstanding 4 words..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLYOBi5gaVs&list=PLArlpK1gjoY0j2zKSNxZKyQ5GEcvvbu_d

Cannabis plants grow in the day actually. They are trophic organisms.

So in your own words Mikell it is you to misinterpret my response. You also didn't understand what Med-Man said about as much as he didn't when he wrote it.

Did you write that all yourself?:pointlaug

As far as I am aware cannabis grows under a 24hour illuminated growth period. So, I think we should never ever ever listen to Med-Mans bullshit nonsense again, I will also include you on that list.

(The cursor when held over italic words will help explain things like 'proteins' to you if you bother to read, clearly I wrote it because if there is a spelling mistake in there it wasn't copy 'n' pasted.)

Aww thanks for pointing that out, I'll trade you wisdom and teach you how to use non-velcro shoes tomorrow.

To be fair, it's much easier to misunderstand your posts than medmans 4 word reply, differentiating between quotes and the odd word you pop in would be helpful. Or I suppose I could use inaccuracies, spelling mistakes and terrible g'ammer to figure it out.

Phototropism video why? It might have made sense if it included the night cycle, but then you might have observed something mind boggling...

Here's a relevant video

[youtubeif]2FHU1iVEQpI[/youtubeif]

Upward growth beyond normal foliage movement is clearly visible.

I would prefer not to be lumped in with MM. Make a new group for people that have disagreed with you more than once and I'll be at the front of the line registration day.

If you want to keep bickering feel free to PM, I'd prefer not to muddle this thread up anymore, it's quite a mess already.

It's ok I use slip on's, you can show me how to spell check if you like and cite the relevant information posted and I can show you how to put actual working links with words.

There is no video,, and what/how are you going to use to see in the dark anyway? Raydar

I believe it was Dawin and his son Francis that discovered phototropism's. They discovered that plants learned the diurnal rotation of a light source, they witnessed during the evening/early hours leaves re-positioned themselves to take benefit and maximise the solar radiation and thus enhance growth in the morning.

I think this is what your referring to, it not a tropism per say... Its not much use in a tent grow either is it?

What you describe is basic plant function called a Photonasty or specifically Nyctinasty, a movement of higher plants in response to the onset of darkness.

Thanks for another Bio 101 lesson...

Odd, never had a problem with any video I've imbeded before. Or at least I don't think I have. Maybe your browser setting or some such, the full link is below.

Plants grow night and day, including cannabis. Easy enough to see when the lights come on after a dark period.

Plants will not be bigger or faster with no dark. Plants grow most at night. Ask the plants about it from week 1-6 in flowering for the average strain.

Bumber on the tables Krug ch.

In all my video and tutorials don't know if I ever mentioned using carbs in veg or any time of t rich derma or mycorizzea

I disagree.

Sure they grow very rapidly early in flower, but it's illogical to say that that they grow better in dark because it's the dark that induces the flowering.

Plant growth is more than what we can see with our eyes and growth we do see with our eyes isn't always good. Consider having the light source too far away from the plant... it will grow taller and one might conclude it's even growing faster. What matters most is what the plant produces at the end and more light is beneficial.

We only have so much time on this planet...if you can pay the bills, have them lights on 24/7 for more photosynthesis.

Don't take my word for it. Ask any grade school kid what makes plants grow...

Imo dark cycles are strain specific. I have used the "gas lantern" schedule with great succes with sour hybrids. They grow crazy fast. The ogs didn't respond nearly as well. I have seen time and time again with cloners that you get roots faster with some kind of dark cycle vs 24hr lighting.

Never did more than 12hours of dark personally.
