Many Forest Gorillas vs Several Forest and Well Tended Plants

Tycho said this about the autos a few pages back:

Lol ..... honestly I grew a NYC Diesel from Soma that had that huge top cola....a big sativa that took forever flowering. I think I flowered NYC Diesel 85 days or so12/12 and could've went longer. I dunno I guess it's a mystery plant.....damn I'm sure we'd all like to grab a pack. I guess that's out, but that's a great job Tycho :tiphat:

When growing on corn edges in the Midwest did you have much problem with seeding from native ditch weed? Where I live native hemp is everywhere, I mean everywhere lol! Never tried it here but have always wanted to. I've heard if you get your plants way into the corn field in areas with native hemp you can avoid the majority of seeding you would get outside the field by way of cross pollitination. Instead of fully seeded buds you'd perhaps get a few to some seeds in a bud? Any thoughts on this wvkindbud38? This issue alone has scared me off the idea of growing outside here.

Tycho- Wow 12 ft! Those are happy plants! You didn't plant seed July 15, they were transplanted then I guess. They love that cornfield spot. We have lots of corn here, but its generally best for us to use the edge of the field. More secure generally and less pesticide risks.

So it looks like some of the plants are really early and remain at 4 ft or so, and some are more regular finishing plants.

Thanks for sharing!
They were 3 weeks old when I moved them out. The corn was only 3 feet high and it was 3 weeks after the farmer sprayed for weeds. I actually hate planting in corn. You never know if it's silage or cash crop. Silage (gets put in the silos to feed livestock) gets cut early. Cash crop gets cut late. So early autos are best for corn. I'm late. I had an extra 50 seedlings, so I put them in the field back of the house. lol

But if I plant in a corn field, I look for areas that are not planted well because of mechanical or farmer failure. And that happens mostly in corners.

NEVER like this

or this

That's just asking for trouble.

Second the holy hell....that's a f-ing top of a plant. You said that top pic is a NL auto flower??? Damn I gotta get a pack of those. I'd say as thick as the top it did mold some. I'd have hell probably with mold. But that's beautiful friend....wow!!!:tiphat:
It's been hot and humid as shit here all summer, and I let it go way past ripe. So even though I've had a bit of mold, I can say they're mold resistant.

These aren't "normal" NL's.
1 - They're way way too sativish. NL should be Afghani Indica.
2 - They were Feminize at one time. Now they're Regular.

The wife wanted to plant her own, so she got Crop King Seeds - NL Auto Fem. But she stressed them the f*ck out. I mean in the extreme. You've heard of a green thumb? She has a Black thumb. She transplanted them 3 times, constantly moved them from window to window, inside-outside, sun burnt, missed watering them to the point of drooping, flooded them in the rain, over fed them when she did water them, and finally moved them to the garden for a 4th transplant (did I miss anything? lol)

She started with 10 plants, 6 died, and when they went into the garden 3 hermied and one was stunted and got pollinated. That's where I got the seeds from. I planted them because I was hoping for a crop of dwarf runts. 1/10 are runts with heavy Indica leaves. The rest are giants with the Thai recessive gene expressing and now dominant. They have also reverted to regular seeds. At least they're still Autos. As far as I can figure, that's what happened, or there was a packaging mess up. I've looked high and low for an Autoflower that grow like this and haven't found anything. If someone knows of something, I'd like to hear it. I've contacted the Crop King Seeds owner to see if they have a strain like this, then a mix up it is, otherwise it's a stress thing on the momma.

I let these open pollinate so I have thousands of seeds. :D
I plan on feminizing some over the winter.

Well I was outside Chicago and there wasn't any problems in the fields I grew around. But like I was saying I just did smaller grows. Nothing commercial or large scale. I can't really say for certain if you got into a larger grow and into more fields)areas what you may find as far as native feral hemp or anything. It was mainly just something to have outdoors. I used to do large scale indoor grows and liked to mess around outdoor. I never really scouted the area like I would if I was guerilla growing. Like me current guerilla grow in Appalachian....I know every 🌲 and rock around my paths and try to learn the area the best I can when guerilla growing. But I just set out those plants in the Midwest and water them and didn't scout to much of the area. Just enough to hope security was ok. The best advice I can give and I'd say other members will also is to scout a large perimeter of the area your going grow in and try to see if you see any signs of feral hemp or ditch weed. Also look for signs of hunters and things that might be a security issue friend

Thats funny, the wife has a black thumb. Its more than just plant and watch grow. Have to be really good at remembering things. Gardening hones your skills. Tell her to keep trying!
Some of those non planted areas turn into little creeks during rainy seasons. Just keep that in mind. Farmers go through and fix the washed out areas with the backhoe in the spring, but over time they can come back. May lose your plants in a gully washer rain! Just use common sense.

Luckily we don't have hemp growing feral around here. My friend who farms our field wants to look into growing hemp for grain when its feasable. I guess the years he grows hemp, my crop will be seeded. I really won't care. Will just have to plant another couple plots that year. Maybe down in the creek they would get less pollen. :smoke:

Thick as mate, what sort of smells you getting there?
I've been trying to put my finger on it. For the most part it the smell you get when you open the spice cupboard or drawer. Lol

But the short ones have a very strong chocolate mint/lemony diesel scent. It was gone by the time I chopped it.

I need to take a weed sommelier course. Lol

Thanks Repuk. I have another 25 to bring in but they're certainly not like these. These were kind of an experiment to see how much difference there would be in a few well tended vs many forest less well tended gorillas. I knew there would be differences, it just shocking to see what a little compost and a watering schedule can do.

I'm seeing the same results with my photos. Not as extreme but still noticeable. Probably because photos have had a few more thousand years to stabilize it's survival mechanisms.

My family are farmers. When something breaks, it's party time. They'd all get shitfaced and have it fixed in a couple hours, and everyone would take a turn and make a fucking mess of everything. Lol

Boy, I wish I'd grown up in your family. When our farm equipment broke, there was no party, just a couple boys desperately trying to give dad the tools he needs quickly, so he didn't lose his shit. There would be no parties until that hay got baled.

I really wish that my dad had used cannabis. I have the same hair-trigger temper that he did, and cannabis controls it wonderfully.

Thanks.
On a personal level, I'm a total lightweight and got high trimming it. A heavy smoker I know said "good". I have to find a lab to test though. I still have lots to bring in.

My dad didn't chill until he stopped drinking at 60. He still had a temper, but he was all bark by then and I could distract him with a chocolate bar and a pepsi. lol

16 brothers and 6 have adjacent farms. Typical big french Canadian Catholic families. They drive their tractors with a bottle of vodka or CC between their legs with Johnny Cash, George Jones and Tammy Wynette blasting in the cab. They're the most violent people I know with great lines like "I'll feed him a fucking brick" or "I'll grab my hammer and knockout all your teeth." lol.

My father's. There's ONE girl in the mix, and she's by far the most powerful. She was COO of one of the world largest energy companies and a power player in Canadian politics.

I have 8 siblings. 4 defective and 4 "normal".
