Many Forest Gorillas vs Several Forest and Well Tended Plants

Please allow me to bitch because these drought conditions are kicking me ass.

I've had to water every 3 days. It really should be every second day. Daily temps between 28 and 38 (40+ with the humidity) and not a cloud in the sky.

I didn't use water crystals because, well... I'm in a fucking watershed for Christ's sake. Even my spring fed pond is down to 6 inches from 4 feet, and every drainage ditch is empty but still damp. I've read about ShamWow and how it also helps by drawing moisture and even dew to the roots. Anyone with experience with that?

We haven't had more than 1mm of rain at a time since May5th. And that only happened 3 times. Apparently.

I certainly can't say I've never manually watered a plant in my life. It's all I've done this year. Thank god for the creek. At least I can water easily there.

Wow Tycho amazing pictures! Keep them coming! :)

MoneyMaker looks exactly the same as my lebanese right now...

Hear you on the drought... thankfully you have water sources nearby?

It may pay off investing on an automatic setup... if water is near you may setup something with batteries and even a solar panel/turbine generator, or oversize them and change them periodically.

Biggest deposit you can get camuflaged on elevated site (barrel, etc), float switch, battery, DC pump, timer, cables, polivinyl tube, autocompensated drippers, etc.

Thanks repuk. Love wtching them grow.

Some do, some don't. I should have just filled the spot. I can haul on my ATV but it's still a lot of work because I can't drive all the way.

I can set everything up with a battery operated timer (I have one for my veggie garden) to turn on and off once a day. Just didn't think I'd need it. Last year it rained every three days the whole summer.

Wow that's a lot of watering. I visit my plants every 6 to 10 days for watering and they are in contractor bags above ground. How much water do you give them each time? Do you bucket bomb or use a water pump? I carry buckets of water from a nearby creek (also adjust the pH) and each plant in 16 gallons of soil mix gets a gallon of water. The 5 gallon buckets get half a gallon each. I don't use water crystals but instead use vermiculite at the bottom.

Ah.... found it in one of Silverback's threads. Should also work for containers.
Dry/Swamp Auto watering tip

I then started using materials such as vermiculite, compost, polymer watering crystals and anything else to retain the moisture just around the roots. In my shed, i discovered a material that may be a miracle find for the cannabis grower. That material is ZORBIE. Also commonly sold on TV as SHAMWOWZ!

This material retains water thousands of times that of watering crystals. One cloth, 20" x 20" will absorb and hold over 2 quarts of water. I estimate it would take 15 bottles of agrosoke crystals to absorb that much water.

This material is so absorbant that the ground around it cannot suck it dry. An equillibrium is reached approximately 1" from the strip of material where the ground is pulling but the strip of Zorbie cloth is sucking back. The water that touches this strip is maintained within 1" of the strip and the roots can utilize the water. The remaining soil remains dryer.

Last year, I was giving each plant 2 gallons of water about every 5 days in July and August unless it rained a lot.
I would water 4 plants at a time with the one 2 gallon bucket and collect 4 buckets to do all 4 plants. It's best
not to put too much water at one time I find. Luckily, I was growing beside a swamp that had endless amounts
of water. Carrying water far sucks in a hurry.

Ya... I water twice. Start at one end and restart again at the beginning to make sure I get penetration.

I'm buying 10 rolls of ShamWow. Other than at the creek, I ain't fucking watering next year (famous last words).

Hahah, consider that paleo-training... that's what I do think when I daily haul the buckets, but my scale is microscopic in distance compared to yours...

If I were you I will for sure try to come up with a method for peace of mind... I'm lazy! the piping is really cheap!

An ex green beret friend grower on the North (Asturias) had his plots very well thought out, but again his zone is really low density population wise, and the amount of bush considerable... and to reach there the amount of effort and knowledge was respectable and exhausting (not for him).

He built the watering dike by digging, and watered at will by turning gates and flooding. He planted wild plants, put rocks, stumps and natural elements etc to make it stealth and unless you knew it was there, you won't possibly notice in ages.

I never imagine I would climb, descend, or go through the places he effortessly taught how to go through, be it in the bush or by the cliffs.

I met him by chance: I spotted the smell of his smoke while he was fishing... I had been desperately trying to score some for days... how would you approach? He thought initially I was an undercover cop!

He grew quite impressive quality weed.

The plants I put at my buddy's chicken coop are super bad for stealth. I showed up and he had big laneway reflectors in so he knew where they were in the tall grass. Lol

I changed them for bamboo. Sheesh...
I gave him my STrimmer to help him out. It's always an adventure with that guy.

I started this little test to see how the plants in the field would be like if I took care of them like a new girlfriend.

Northers Lights Auto (reg)

I have 2 groups in this test. Both groups have 6 plants. The Control Group is 20 feet from the Test Group, got the same water and nutes at the same time. Holes were dug 6x6 inches deep and plants were put out at 4 weeks old.

ProMix Liquid 12-6-6 in veg
ProMix 9-16-16 soluble in flower.

The test group got 1 shovel (2Lt) of household waste compost at planting time for the whole group.

The control group is only 3-4' tall.
The test group is 6.5-7' tall, flowered faster, and is at least 3 times bigger.

Obviously it only takes a little bit of good compost to make a big difference. By "good", I really mean something I had in my own household pile, not a commercial brand. The extra heat might be doing it, but honestly, it's been like an oven here for the last month and I'm surprised they didn't cook. The control plants are in full sun yet much much smaller.

Now obviously, they're NOT Northern Lights. And they were supposed to be Feminized, and I culled the half that were males (I kept one for the pollen that I missed and brought it in before the money shot). So the breeder fucked up the packaging at some point. They're way too Sativish to be NL.

And ya.... I'm seeding the bitches. lol

Nice plants dude. Reminds me of my buddies uncle who grew a sativa behind his barn and tried to hide it with a bean plant. The weed ended up growing over his barn lol. So much for stealth.

:bigeye: compost or vermicompost is incredible. I'm out of it, but will have in some months.

Wow! you have to be a happy man!

That looks like a lebanese, bit by bit to my not expert eye... I just happen to had a couple. Ethiopian maybe.

Yours looks ike a pack of ACE Tropical Mix...

Who knows! plants will be indeed very productive! Keep us updated!

Thanks repuk.
These will be fun to watch, and I would be *very happy if the ones in the field were like this but they're not even close. Not by a longshot.
