Opened up my cobs to dry overnight.

Nothing smells bad. Everything looks good. Even those I thought were dryer fooled me. They all had a fair amount of moisture still.
Getting a little collection going

Opened up my cob after 24 hours, it wasn't wet but more gooey/sticky and has an absolutely amazing and rich sweet smell. Gave it a quick pat down with some tissue and have it resealed now for two weeks at room temp. The cobbed buds smell a lot stronger than buds from the same plant I am drying/curing the normal way at this stage.

Trying a low tech version while still following Tangs flow chart. Used a banana leaf to wrap for initial sweat and ferment. Unwrapped and dried a bit, then re-wrapped in parchment. Now, under a few weights for the final rest. Smells interesting, like silage/haylage but a little sweeter and spicy if that makes sense, herbal for sure.

Could have used corn husks since I’m surrounded by cornfields and Mexican stores but since the banana was on my patio, the lazy way out won.

To early to tell if I'm on to something. 🤔

I will say I'm very encouraged with this cob of Bruce Banner nugs that have always been kept in a Grove bag since 2022.
It smelled fantastic! Best nose so far when I cracked the cob open after a week.
The most terpy and the most like normal weed of all the cobs I've done so far.

It felt the best. If that makes sense. The most like I imagine a good one should feel like. Like a well stored cigar.
It felt springy and giving when squeezed all the way to the middle rather then hard in the middle.
A little too moist probably to let it just cob without checking it from time to time. I'll start a little dryer with the next one.

Too early to say if it will turn still. If it will get trippy like a more normal cob.
If it does and I can keep the terps and taste that will really be something.

It will also mean I don't have to start at harvest. I'll be to decide later that I still want to cob something particular after trying it.

It's encouraging enough I'm going to try some more of last seasons and see.

Starting a bunch of cobs and checking them a lot because I'm new has me burning through the vacuum bags.
I think @funkyhorse has brought it up before.
Here's how I'm doing it now and it seems like a good system. 🤔 See what ya think?

I make the cob no wider than the bottom of the new bag so it fits tight. Then I seal it at the top.
I write all the info close to the cob.

I them cut it open right at the cob when I need to check it.

What was the top is the new bottom of the next seal. 😉
I just keep going back and forth until the bag is exhausted.
Seems to be working the best.

The edges don't curl as much making it difficult to get the sealer to engage.
I also don't have to store all these little odd cuts of bag.
Works for me.
