Here's some pictures. The buds were dried for 4 days.

This is 48 hours after the sweat, took picture while it's drying before the 3 week seal.

I'm not sure on the weight, it's more then 20g atleast :)

I weighed the sausage? It's 28 grams
That looks very good after the first week open and check weekly how it is progressing.
I cant comment on the smell maybe you should dry it a little each time you inspect it weekly then vac seal it back up to cure again.
It looks too good to be going wrong I wish I could sniff it I could tell you a lot better then.

I dont think anything is going wrong, it's probably strain dependent how these end up smelling. This is a random bagseed from unknown strain aswell. The buds smelled more like diesel, very intense not sweet at all.

I think that my nose might be lacking the experience to detect the sweetness. Or maybe we have diffrent perceptions of what sweet is? Some ppl think pickles are sweet, i'm not one of those ^^

how goes it tangwena . dug out the cobs i did at the start of may , haha nearly forgot them ! one lot was seriously mouldy .
they were all about 30g when i did them , the first one was wrapped in green grape vine leaves and was very difficult to unravel . it had sort of welded to the buds . except for the mouldy one the rest have a very pleasant , sweet fermented smell to them . haven't tried any yet but certainly will let you know how it went ..hitting the beach this arvo so might be the ideal time ..hahhaha..can't get into too much trouble there as well !oh , and sorry for the shit picture .

Hi my friend they look pretty spectacular to me once dried a bit you should get a nice nose when they are ground up to make a smoke.

The old African way was to bury them for a few months very traditional looking from the pics. What buds were they made from?
You made my day brother I was needing to see some good cob to lift my day out of the mundane ha ha

Yes you will be surprised how little you need ha ha being Malawi I would start at 0.25g or it will do damage ha ha.

far out ..that was pretty intense . i've been smoking for about 40 yrs and thought not too much would surprise me ..haha wave after wave ..yeah i don't know what that nugget would have weighed tang , fit on my thumb nail size i guess ...haha i feel like taking another bite !
last year it was quite hard and dry to chew , this lot is a bit like liquorice , nice and chewy and left my mouth tingling ..

Thats because you got it right this time. dry it and try a smoke it should be very smooth compared to the same buds just jar cured.
I could tell it would be strong just by how the pictures looked.
Nicely cured on that lot my friend.
It will give you an indication of whats possible with a bit of experience and enough time aging they can get pretty spectacular.
Of course getting everything right first time is quite hard but with a bit of trial and error you can make some super special smoking and chewing herb.

yeah i think that last year , being really the first time growing sativas , was on my part a bit of a failure ..i underestimated the flowering times of them ..this malawi i held off as long as possible , far longer than my usual strain .

Thats part of it harvest as late as possible with sativas then nice slow fermentation and a few months aging.
You will be amazed what textures, tastes and smells are possible.
But those babies look spot on from the pics its easy once you get the feel.
Just like tobacco the plug cut rubbing tobacco sweet and compacted.

Get the right strain harvested late and cured right it doesn't get much better.
Give the GT another shot it has some very special effects once you cure it right and harvest late. My best cobs are overwhelming like MDMA and a touch of acid rolled into one chewed.

I had some Swazi cob yesterday it was so intense at the 3hr mark I had to use a gum shield like boxers use to stop my teeth grinding it was like speed mixed with good cannabis not for every day. I am still twitching this morning ha ha.

Kind of dumb question here, but how do you manage to chew it for 10-15 minutes? By time time I'm a minute or two into chewing, I'm salivating like crazy and can't really keep from swallowing it.

Good question i dont chew it full time I chew it until its wad of fine powder and then just suck the juice out of it and give it the occasional chew so its just a question of keeping it in your mouth as long as possible.
But i do end up with less and less until its all swallowed, sometimes I spit the wad out and make tea with it and swallow the dreggs both ways work very well. If you are out and about make sure you have some fresh mint sweets to chew or your breath will smell of dope ha ha

Well, giving it a go. :) I cut her on Friday and let her hang in the dark until this morning, cobbed her today.

These are the two main colas off that plant. Together they came to just a little over an ounce. They dried a little, but they are still fairly moist if you press them.

All trussed up like a Christmas goose..

She's in a ziplock now to sweat a bit this afternoon in a heating pad, and I'll get her vacuumed sealed this evening.

The only husks I was able to get were pretty small so I had to double them up that's why she's a little awkward in the middle. I told you - me and crafts.... :D But I really wanted to use the corn husks instead of paper so we'll see how it goes.

Peace,
Maven

Went back over the notes I took and it looks like you now vacseal it for the initial sweat as well, so I sealed it up and put it back in the heating pad. She was already starting to produce a real nice sweat :) Tomorrow I'll take it out, dry it a bit, then seal it back up and fuggitaboutit for a month or two. :)

All good the sweat can be sealed or unsealed I usually do it sealed these days but either is fine.

When you take it out to dry it, only dry it until the maize skin looses its moisture not bone dry just not wet to the touch it should loose the wet perspiration in a couple of hours at most in a dry room.

Then seal it up for a couple of weeks that should be enough when you open the bag after 2 weeks it should smell sickly sweet. if it does you are getting a nice fermentation going.

Then dry the cob until the skin is dry to the touch about half a day or so. Then vac seal it for a month and you should have a nice result.
Let us know how you go and some pics of the end result would be nice to. Good luck you are doing a medicine man/womens work nothing like a little alchemy to get ones blood boiling ha ha

I did feel better about it once I went back and sealed it. Just a little extra insurance. :)

Thanks, Tangwena!! I shall follow your direction, Sensei! :)

And, win, lose or draw, pics will come along as it progresses.

As you advised Tangwena I opened the cob today(one week after). It smells okay, it's definetly more sweet smelling now, although it still has that hint of salami going, probably because I didnt use corn husks I figure.

Here's pictures for comparison.

One week after

Looks nice it def got some fermentation going on.
Now vac seal it for 2 or 3 weeks and keep it in a warm place it should carry on fermenting only slowly.

When you open after 3 or 4 weeks it should be right and you can dry it and use it or cut a piece of and dry it and re seal the rest to age a few months without fully drying.
Remember once its fully dried you stop the fermenting only fully dry it if it smells sweet and to your taste.

After it has been vac sealed for 3 or 4 weeks you should be able to dry a sample to test it, remember the get clearer over time they are usually very stony when young and get more clear headed with a few months of aging but otherwise looks very nice, it takes a bit of practice like anything to get it perfect but that looks like a very good first shot nice texture and color.

The bag was not as moist as the 48h sweat. I guess that is to be expected since I dried it for 2 hours after the 48h sweat.

It was super sticky when I inspected it this time tho im happy about that :)
