Malawi Style Cob Curing.

Took it out today and dried it - didn't get to yesterday, just too much company floating in and out. But I figured a little extra time didn't hurt anything. I must have had it trussed really well because the skin was still nice and tight on her. :)

I didn't unwrap it because I didn't want to risk damaging/losing the husk. I just dried it until the husk was dry to the touch, then sealed it back up again...

Tangwena, we are running the AC here in the house. Should I take it and put it somewhere with no air conditioning for the next part of the slow cure, or do you think it will cure ok in here? It stays around 70-75f (21-23c or so) in here. Much warmer outdoor temps, and I can move it out if you recommend it...

Hi Mary yes the warmer the better being such a slim cob it may be a tad dry.
But it will sweat slowly if it is in a warm place. Looking good so far the chopper read cob I tasted today is unreal the first 4 or 5 hours are just going up through stages very difficult to choose whats real and imagined great up rushing high very similar to going up on acid i love it a lot.
I think I will try another cob tomorrow from the same guy. Last time I tried it it was super trippy real Alice in Wonderland experience. Its now 4 months older and its def improved the chopper read out of sight.
Tastes like nepalese hash, smells like a sweet skunk hash and is slightly moist but would smoke easy and smooth its from uniborzum great curing style and killer weed to begin with.

The bag was not as moist as the 48h sweat. I guess that is to be expected since I dried it for 2 hours after the 48h sweat.

It was super sticky when I inspected it this time tho im happy about that :)
That sounds like your onto a winner then, it certainly looks the goods from the pics should be a nice result coming your way soon.
I hope you get a nice trippy high from it. I had some today that blew my socks off boy i have been hanging out to get that high again.
Nice to know I can whenever I want to, all i have to do is chew 0.35g and it will be on again ha ha

Those look great! :)

I took it down and put it in the barn. :D Should be fine there - nice and warm. It was still nice and moist inside, I think. At least it felt that way when I gave it a little squeeze. Hopefully it continues to cure nicely...now, patience....never been my strong suit, but I'm learning. I think it helps having it out of here...out of sight, out of mind. :D

Def helps just forgetting about it for a while. Unless your me i stashed 4 cobs of GT the best I have ever made and cant find them ha ha Its been a good lesson on stashing stuff when I'm high ha ha.
I have searched everywhere at home so I think I left them at a place I am only going back to at Christmas ha ha. They are vac sealed so all good but Christmas will be very good if I find them ha ha they will be aged 9 months and super strong.
i have a small piece I cut off one of them and its just so good the high is life changing.
Every time I trip on it I feel a better person after like all my problems have been lifted.

Tangwena : ''I use corn husks I have removed the day before, but you can use fresh they are just easier to work with 24 hrs later''

Sounds like magic waiting to happen my friend.
I use them straight from the corn cob, greener the better.
It doesn't matter if they are dry but green shrinks as it cures with the weed and makes a nice tight cob.
I posted a recipe on page one so not much reading to do.
If you follow it you should get a good result.
I should be making some cobs around that time and early January so I will post lots of picks ect.
A lot of people are doing this now and there have been some amazing cures done over this year. Some of the cobs I have seen posted would sell like hot cakes in Malawi I cant praise them higher than that.

You say you have even used weed that was only dried for 24 hours, I assume if the cob leaves are fresh and damp and that you are vacuum sealing that the full ounce of weed should be full dried no ? or do you only vacuum seal once the whole cob has dried enough?

The main variable in cob making is the amount you dry the buds.
They will sweat even if there is only a little moisture left it just effects the end result consistency.
The drier the buds going in the less changes occur during the fermentation process.
So wetter buds tend to result in a darker hash like result where the drier buds result in cobs that look more like the buds that went in.
You can see from the pics the darker cobs were wetter buds going in the lighter more colorful drier buds going in.
The highs are different as well the lighter cobs are more energetic and the darker more narcotic and everything in between even from cobs made from the same plant.
i always try to make at least two different style cobs to see which high i prefer.

I now go through each bit of bud and remove all stems as it's easier doing that before cobbing than later when the cobs are cut apart for smoking. My cobs are dense and heavy, so I need to cut off thin slices off the edges of the cob and this breaks up evenly when rubbed with fingers. If I cut off a big chunk that's large enough for a joint, then it's impossible to break it up by hand for rolling.

I really must try making a non-compacted cob....I'll have some bud in a month, so I'll do just that (and as suggested, I'll try dense cobbing from the same plant)

I've only had 14 posts, so I can't edit, which is silly, isn't it.

You will like it i am sure, once you see each end of the spectrum you will get a clearer idea of where you want to be in your curing.
Everybody will have slightly different styles and end results will vary a lot from person to person.
Most of the cobs I have seen posted look good with some mind blowingly good ones I can tell from the pics how well cured they are.
There were 3 main styles I used to get from my dealer, loose, medium and hard. They all produce outstanding cures in the right hands.

Zamaldelica both ways

Zamaldelica both ways

This is an example of the result of a short sweat and a longer sweat on some Zamaldelica buds.
The golden ones are like a speed freak on acid.
The darker one is way deeper and lysergic get right out of your body and mind.

Hi my friend I can see you have been busy thats a nice collection you have there its fun isn't it?

Its hard to tell without a sniff but those two cobs look very nice.
Its great to have both the light and dark how do you find the high?
Any difference in the taste?
Also what strains or type of cannabis?
Sorry for all the questions but I am always curious.

WoW thats a first nice result though thanks for posting that. I use the vacuumed jars but have never lined them its got to influence the cure for sure just the humidity alone.
Now you have got my brain ticking thats awesome you shared that.
This is why I like posting on here the more input from everyone the more the rest of us learn.
Welcome to the brotherhood of the cob my friend much respect.
