Works great ;)

Nice job! How many days did it take to get those roots that big?

Thanks rumple!

BigTex: Took about 20 days to get that root mass. Didn't get any roots till around 14 days in, then they exploded!

I'm looking forward to getting some of that action going on over here. You use anything besides just water?

I changed the water in the bucket every 5 days, PH around 6. Once the nubs of the roots came out I put a 1/4 tsp of Maxibloom in there.

Look forward to seeing what you are workin' with BigTex :)

I ordered a pump and jets. $25 for parts and $27 for shipping. High gas prices sure are driving up shipping costs...oh well I'm looking forward to this build! I was gonna just use one of my pumps I already have but they were heating up the water after about 12 hours so I went with the via aqua 1300 you recommend. Thanks for taking the guesswork outa this project Rumple. :D

I finished my clone machine over the weekend, well almost I still need to paint it black with some krylon fusion. Here it is...

bucket cloners work

After having lots of trouble trying to clone every which way I revamped my aero cloning from a rubbermaid to a solid black 3.5 gallon bucket.

I use irrigation tubing instead of pvc. Managed to squeeze 19 neoprene collars on the bucket lid. Only 5 360 spray heads.

Applied a small amount of Olivia's gel. Running it with EWC tea on a 15 min on, 15 min off timer under 2 40 watt flourescent bulbs. Just about to bat 1000 on all the cuts.

I put my new cloner into service today. I put 2.5 gallons of RO water in the bucket (my tap water here is terrible), added 10 teaspoons of clonex cloning solution, and dipped the cuts in clonex gel for 10-20 minutes. The cuts are about 6 inches below a two tube 40 watt fluorescent fixture. Water temp is hanging around 76-78 and humidity is 45%. And of course light and pump are constantly on. I put little sticky labels on the neoprenes so I know what is what.

Very nice bucket Bigtex

Thanks for the kind words! I'd bet you are right about the clonex. Next time I root some cuts I'll use plain water just for a comparison. Those cuts went into the dirt after 6 days in the bucket with a 100% survival rate.

Thanks again Rumpleforeskin for sharing your knowledge.

thank you Rumpleforeskin!

I followed most of the directions, just straying here and there.

Extended all of the PVC so it would fit a 18G tote, 2300 ViaAqua pump (600gph), didn't use net pots (hot glued holes to hold collars tight). added a auto 78f heater and thermometer to know when to turn on the heater.

Not the prettiest little thing but man does it kick up some water!

One side of the longer PVC pieces got slanted during gluing, i dont think it should have too big of an effect.

I made it 35 site but i only bought 30 collars, another trip to the store!

Okay guys...
I put the bucket together and filled it with 5 cuts.
Changed the water every 5 days.
15 days after cutting and not a single root.
Temp: 80F
All 5 dead.
No additives.
Run 24/7
I rebuilt the bucket with a 45 gallon rubbermaid tub, using an
850 gph pump and 112 clone sites.

Filled w/ 12 gal. tap water w/ Ph to around 5 to 6.
No additives.
Run 24/7
Temp: 80F
Same thing. No roots and all cuts died after a few days.

I noticed that the ph goes off the chart over night and re-adjust every AM.

Now I have placed 30 cuts in the cloner w/ 12 gallons of bottled water.
Ph between 5 - 6.
Temp: 80F
Run 24/7
No additives.
11 days later, one cutting has approx 1" root and half are dead.

Humidity remains around 40% through out.
Ph still climbs dramatically over night, re-adjust every AM.

Any suggestions? I'm nearly at a loss.

Greatest jump in success I had with my bubbler came from soaking each stem in full strength Hormex for 1 minute (any iba/naa solution will work)

May ez cloner fans have had luck with EWC teas

do you really need that many sprayers in those things with the radius of spray that they let out? of course it has to be sprayed but dont you take into account the water spalshing and bouncing off the sides?
