Lets Build a Clone Machine *Step by Step*

hello cloners,

matt: i've had the most success keeping my stems at about the same depth as my net pot goes, but i haven't had the best success either.

do i have any luck after this point?

i think the water is too warm. i get to this stage after a few days and then most of them stop. i've had a few resilient ones pop out a puny root or two but nothing close to what i see other people get. no slime and i clean it and replace h2o 1x/week.

just a quick 24hr bump. I changed the water out today and replaced with rain water. I know they like it better than tap, but i'm also looking for any experiences with the ol' bumpy-but-brown stem, as chucking them would be seriously agitating

hey vibes thanks for response. At first my cloner didnt do much. Went 14 days with straight hard well water.its prefect comes out at 5.9 so i dont touch it.After 12 days i lost a few to rot and a few were nubbing.

21 days later and i got a bit better success.

Now the few that were rotten i replaced with new clones and after 9 days I'm getting roots, not nubs. So i think it might of just been that i needed to run the system for a while. I put in a 1/4 tsp of Root 66 from Technaflora and they seem to love it. I know it works with just water though, because i tried it. I've also got a bubble cloner going that i just built and gonna see how it compares to aerocloners.

as far as how far down i found the the further down toward the sprayers the stem is the more likely to rot. If they are kinda hidden/surrounded by the net pot i found it doesn't stay too wet. 2 of mine actually rooted up at the collar rather than the exposed part. I separated roots from collar and pushed stem down a little so roots would have direct contact with the water and that baby has SPRUNG!. I am gonna get some root porn pics tomorrow.:woohoo:

add ClearRez/Dutch Master Zone/homemade pool shock solution(1g per gallon of water to make the solution, then 1oz of solution per 5 gallons of water/nutes)and you will have roots coming out of your ears and ass. reapply every 5-7 days.

you do this to keep the Clones sterile, hopefully u made an effort to use clean/sterile blades when actually cutting the clones. That is beneficial only if you can keep the cloner and all pumps/fittings sterile as well. as the water temperature rises, bad bacteria/phungus/snot begins to naturally form in the water, encasing everything inside the spray zone.

A mild chloramine solution will solve your problems and get bright white roots.

Clear Rez is made by EZ-Cloner guys, Zone is made by Dutch Master. These guys are selling Chloramine for 15-20$ a bottle, when you can make your own for pennies.

what you need:

1 bag of hth shock n' swim(2$){all you need is 1 gram}
1 gallon of water.
mix.

now you have Chloramine for pennies. use at a rate of 1 ounce of the solution per 5 gallons of clone nutes/water. add-back solution every 5-7 days.

hope this helps

Great info. Always good to have different ways to do the same thing. I know this works and works well for you. I just have a question about fresh air in the system. As people use differing setups, Some are not as tight as others. Meaning that some setups will be getting alot more fresh air in the solution. I understand as this is working this may not be critical. But could explain how some have problems and others dont.

So what I take from this thread is.
1) Keep it clean. Make sure your cuts and equiptment are clean.
2) Keep your temps down. 75-80 best range

I think no matter which style of cloning you use if you keep these 2 points in mind you should have success.

Thanks for the info.
