LED and BUD QUALITY

Lots of talk of yield and 620-700nm and zero talk of what I care about: how it smokes and if it gets you ripped.
The problem there is being “ripped” is so subjective its impossible to delve into. Nm range discussions are to optimize everything possible. To get you “ripped” as possible. Any high quality strain grown well under any decent form of lighting should get you super baked my friend.

very often the limiting factor is the "grown well" part.

I can try short and sweet if you prefer:
Yes, it got us ripped. Comercial grow: the stone is not the only factor, you need full commercial bag appeal to succeed: bud structure, smell/taste, stickiness, tricome shine etc. + you need a "modern" hype cut. Good quality but not sought after strain doesnt help us really.
Comercial value: +10% without loss of yield. It puts us in the top 10% of the price range of what smoke clubs are paying growers. Plus quality got us out of "buyers market" into sellers market: we pick where to unload now, before we unload wherever we could. And less haggling.

How we did it:
30w/ft2, 2700k 90cri + 660 + uva (2 parts 400: 1 part 365nm)
Strain: rainbow chip.
Theres probably room for improvement still

Lighting strategy: focus both on intensity and plant specific light, high reds and blues violets well covered: 630, 660, low green, 450, 400-430nm. Possible improvements: adding 285, 730 and maybe some infra red but likely not thru leds on the last one.

This kind of light youll generally have to build yourself, can only find one light/board on the market that has this focus; well be trying it next cycle ;)

Sorry if i get wordy but hard to actually convey info in 2 lines of text.

How about you tell what lights youve compared to HPS in order to come to the conclusion HPS>all leds? Please try to answer this,

Caveat: yes you can grow great weed with HPS but you may need the right cut. HPS cover of blue is wide but minimal so each bioreactive wavelength will have some cover though much less than what you can get with the right led strategy. On the contrary, you can also grow great weed with standard led HE spectrum with the right cut.

What i compare to: most ripped and stoney weed i ever tried: Glue trap, elite cut, grown outdoor in accidental/unicorn run outdoors flowering during spring time rather than late summer autumn. Shut down the party for 3 hours, no words between 10 people as our faces where melting. Not my favorite smoke, this weed would not have been the best comercial appeal.

Sorry for wordy again but this is all the info as short as possible.
Happy growing.

C) Weak boring flavor
D) Weak boring affect
E) Gene pool getting progressively worse
HPS is great much better than LED for resin quality.
Strain: Rhian BX1 (Trichome Jungle Seeds) - same cut
Grower: Noreason
Lights: Lumatek HPS 600WSL / Lumatek LED Zeus 2.9 pro

I want to believe you, but in multiple blind tastings no one has been able to recognize which is which. Same flavor, same effect. The only difference is that the LED buds are heavier. :dunno:

This is so fake man same cultivar will always be different under hps and leds...you just put 2 buds from the same crop.
Why are people doing this Idk...

By the same logic, you shouldn't believe any buds photos you've seen in this thread.
With such a different light sources as HPS and LEDs you cant get the same looking buds. Thats my point of talking. Not you,not me,not anybody on this world.

I respect your opinion, but if your premise/dogma/experience is that under no circumstances can two LED and HPS buds look the same (although with different density), you will agree with me that there is no way to convince yourself otherwise; even if we meet at the IC420 to smoke a sample, you wouldn't believe the origin of the buds... So, why comment on my post? Thats my point of talking.

Ive seen my clones grown at other places that dont look the same under any light. Blaming a light for poorly grown weed is a lame excuse. Any excuse to blame something unrelated to their failures at growing well is the easy path. No one is immune to a decline in quality. Ive had plants not perform as good from time to time. Growing a high quality product consistently is not easy.

Then do you bring some pics to show us that?

Those buds look very similar but there is difference. Can you spot it?

I wont say that id be able to tell which was which without labeling, theyre really similar, but there is a definite definable difference which would give a hint which is hps and which is led.
only difference is that the LED buds are heavier. :dunno:
Tru dat. I guess im HID baiting here which may not be nice but its still funny:
"Led buds are denser than HPS buds"

Yes, its completely true. (HID crowd grows into wild outrage...)
