looking good as usual dav, is that LR under the 400w on the same flower schedule as the other led plant, or i mean did you switch the light all at the same time??
Hi rkrone. The plants are on separate schedules. April 23 was 12/12 start in LED. HPS LR2 is still on 18/6. However, now tell me what you think of this, there is another three plants(bagseed) in the HPS room. They will need 12/12 shortly. So I was going to switch the room into 12/12. Including the LR2.
Hi rkrone. In the HPS room is a group of three bagseed plants. They are vegging now with the LR2 on an 18/6 timetable. On May 5 I planned on the timetable going 12/12 for the sake of the bagseed. Oh the LR2 is budding up very well. A lot of sites and hearty looking size.
I think you are seeing the difference between HID and LED. Don't get me wrong, LEDs are great but it takes way too many to compare to an HID. Someone did a comparision awhile back and i can't find the thread but i believe to get enough LED's to equal to the light output of an HID, the money you spent on LED's could have bought you 2-3 HID lights (including all the boards and wiring for LEd's if it's not complete already). Sure LEDs will save power but come on a 400 doesn't even make a dent in my elect bill.
If someone gets bored perhaps you could find out how many LED's it would take to equal the light output of an HID.
I like how you really speak your mind quite clearly Chief. And that you took the trouble to share with us here. Imagine how I feel being the one who bought the LEDs. Slightly disappointed. I'm trying my best to get somewhere with them. I agree about some frequency being lacking, due to weak performance in budding. I believe that is why the company now has a full spectrum model. Need I say more.
P.S. ~ Minor point, about the comment you made on the cost of a 400w - it is a significant portion of my apartments electric bill, being on at least 12 hours every day.(Currently 18 hrs daily) It is more than any other appliance. Small point, Chief. And I meant to say what an articulate gentleman you are. Thank-You for visiting.
those look great davzap, is there a way to translate the LED output into and hid wattage rating. i mean like does your LED equal the output of say a 70w hps or can it not be converted like that??
it's very difficult to equalize wattage from different lamps. it's like you compare an apple to a pear.
but in my calculations, his led setup should be equal to 100-150W of hps, but as i said it is like i'd say 1 kg of apples is equal to 1.5 kg of pears.
id say lumens or light intensity, only because the leds are not penetrating the canopy the same way an hps would. although it saves money, leds would have to be super-light emitting to produce the nugs you see from hps grows. IN other words, leds dont produce enough light IMO.
