seriously though, i just want my girls to be done already, they look so tasty but they still have a ways to go. im gettin sick of spending money on local schwag when i have hydroponically grown nuggs in my closet

Really depends on how mature they are. If i'm starting from seed i wait until i see preflowers (pistles) before i switch the lights. Usually the plants are mature by this time. After switching the lights, it's usually towards the end of week 2 that i start to see bud formation. Bud formation is still relatively slow to the 4th week
Slow bud set can also be due to less light intensity. Do you know how much your LED's are putting out compared to an HID?

Whats the deal on LED growing? Is it supposed to have a more effective "per watt ratio" ???

My friend and I have 4 girls in flower under a 150watt hps with some supplemental cfls. Let me say that touching those many white hairs got me in the mood.

LED lights are way more effcient on power consumption but then you run into the problem that they're not cheap and it takes alot of them. Plus they generate very little heat.

The LEDs are high efficiency. They are not optimal for buds, as is. They need a little extra something to get a really good bud. You are growing with 150w HPS + CFL< thats cool to combine lights and build up those total lumens. I'd like to see your grow. Good Luck with it. I hope that you get good buddies.

Chiefsmokingbud if the LEDs are reasonably priced, as they can be had now, they will pay for themselves in electricity saved. At the very least they can be used to partially veg. They can be combined with other lights as side or lower plant lighting. offsetting your utility bill.
