Killer A5 Haze

This is all probably true, but with the absolute first bean I popped of the testers I got Abbott; a massive NL stinker that I never found again and that was pure crack cocaine of cannabis. The best of all KA5 I popped, maybe 7 fem seeds. Smoked it for 6 months straight. One joint of abbott would outstink a pound of cookies right next to it. Pissed people off;) It should be in my thread around when the strain came out. Made me want to look into NL5 to see where that came from.
Same happened to me, I popped 1 Killer A5 Haze and got 9-10 week pheno. I've taken around 100 cuts and distributed to all my growmies for the sake of preservation. Gonna cross the King's Bud to it and GT, should be interesting.

Hey Deep water dude

What I meant was that if we exclude anecdotal evidence, statistically, in an adequately representative sample, it should be an outlier. Let's say the odds were 1-5% hypothetically, that doesn't mean you couldn't find it in 7 seeds or that you would be 100% guaranteed to find it if you popped 200.

Crack cocaine type effects is not what most people would assimilate to an Afghani leaning pheno or NL5. That's what Nextgen was asking about, and it doesn't seem like Abbott had Afghanica type effects either or am I misunderstanding what you mean by "pure crack cocaine of cannabis"? That sounds like a speedy effect you'd associate with certain pure Sativas/NLDs and what most of us here came for.

Nevil's NL5 had a discrete smell and almost no taste, it's not a strong terp variety (I believe that's one of the reasons it lets Haze terps through)

How was that pheno NL dom if it's stinky and has speedy effects, am I missing something? That sounds like maybe the NL/Haze pheno no?

Morning @thugpoet - by crack I don't mean speedy, I mean addictive, can't think about anything else, perfectly balanced hybrid weed;) We'd both have to go back a few years in the posts to see exactly what I was thinking, but Abbott was an outlier, according to the rest of the beans I popped of KA5, and one I should have kept around for its greasy uniqueness. She's certainly in this thread at the beginning. Looked terrible by the end, by the way.

1 week since flip and she's stretching, I'm contemplating topping.

That's kind of what I'm wondering, with this strain, I'm thinking it's probably fine, but I really don't know. I generally just do things and see what happens, fuck around and find out, if you will. @dubi what do you think?

I think topping would be no issue at this early stage of stretch. She will probably get too high if you leave those branches like they are, so or top them or keep scrogging her low for another two weeks until proper buds start appearing.

Cheers

I think you'll have more issues if you don't do something, to be honest.
I feel like you don't have enough height for her and you gave her a lot of veg. Just one foot above the net seems like it would already be pretty close to the lights.
A x3 stretch would be an absolute nightmare in that setup (and that's pretty much average for this variety as far as I can tell)
My intuition would be that she's going to overrun that growbox easily if you don't intervene with some countermeasures, especially in Hydro.

Good luck taming the beast... On the plus side, it looks like you'll have no trouble getting a real opulent yield out of that grow.

Thanks Thug, I appreciate the response and I agree with you, I'll be topping, supercropping and/or adding a third trellis. A few further details;
-Afaik it's (hopefully) the NL pheno as discussed earlier, but you're right, best not to take chances.
-There is a little over 1' the lights can go up.
-Thats a living bed SIP baby!! So easy, highly recommend. She gets extras, FFJ, aloe foliar, blah blah blah, but you could get a great result in one of those puppies with very little effort.

That said, again, I agree. I'm gonna sleep on it and have at er tomorrow. Many thanks, cheers.

@dubi greetings, apologies for the lack of photographic evidence. nonetheless, I am very, very happy with the results of what I found in two packs. very nice combinations of A5 and Malawi, though every plant was slightly different, very nice and some specimens very high quality flowers and resins. if you (gentle reader) want to play around with A5 Haze, I highly recommend Killer A5 Haze! some flowers were very close to the mother in terms of the bouquet, undoubtably! i really like that the Malawi lets the mother come through both with KA5 and SMH. (can be very potent end result, but manageable for experienced cultivators and smokers. I had better results from KA5 than with the A5 s1, fwiw.

Well I just turned on the lights after 36 hrs of darkness on miss Killer A5 Haze. She was planted outside from seed in her container about the 3rd week of June and then brought in side 36 hrs ago. I think her structure looks strong.
Looks good. I love seeing people "break the rules". So many people would be afraid to bring a plant in from outside because of pests, but if your environment is good and the plant is healthy you should be fine. I used to think it was such a no no until one day a friend told me about how he used soil from his garden in an indoor grow and grew fire weed with no pests whatsoever. Good stuff.

...and then there was this guy who planted in a five gallon bucket of native soil. When he opened his closet one day, a thousand grasshoppers jumped out, and his plant was just a skeleton of what it had been...

I would be very careful with that. However, when i go to the big box stores, and see flies and gnats swarming around a pallet of bagged soil, i just have to wonder if all soil is a risk.

For sure, I'm not saying you don't have to know what you're doing/be careful. But it's not a guarantee that you will have problems. Can always use things like neem to be on the safe side.

I sprayed the plant down a week before hand with a organic contact insecticide then washed the plant down and then put some predatory Thrips on the plant. Then just prior to to putting her inside I repeated the process. No bugs.....it can be done but there is a risk of the little buggers getting in as well as when you bring in bagged soil from the store. Plant appears good now.....
