Jar curing

I'mback

Comfortably numb!
Math isn't the strong hand around here, is it? 16/4 is never 7.
My mistake! Like most people aroung here I was buzzing. I used 28 and divided by 4=7g not ounce Oops!

Regardless, others have chimed in and you have created your own problem. I'm done here :tiphat:

Hey Bobby. What 'loggers' are you talking about?
Thanks

Sensorpush.

Wouldn’t settle for less, for the sake of how seamless the app is.

Whatever that picture is Mr. Boucher - my jars are nowhere near to being subject to those swings. Curing, not drying. Stashed away in a 58*-60* dark place for months. I keep little pint jars handy for getting into regularly.

Not a bad problem to have actually.

I’ve given away 2 SensorPushes already, just because I insist on others having them.

That sensor push moves everywhere. I use it in my clone tent, veg tent, flower tent, dry tent, my warming cabinet for my chocolate, my guitar cases.. you name it.

I need to buy more. The two I own are hardly enough. I wouldn’t know if my weed fluctuates. It’s never around very long, which isn’t a bad problem to have either. Anything that gets stored goes in a vac bag in the freezer before it browns out.

I like drying really slowly with a humidifier and temperature in the 60's. I smoke cigarettes unfortunately and need my weed smoother so it doesn't choke me out. I set my humidifier at 70% for a week then bring it down to 65 a week before going into jars. My buds usually have a yellow tint even the bud leaves. The stems still bend a bit but if I leave the buds out on a plate for an hour they will be crisp dry. I'm always looking for ways to improve.

Man 7 ounces def not a qp I think I got that from I'm Back's post. Even 4 ounces in a jar is way too much. It's a cure jar, not a throw pillow.

Huge kudos to Waka in the Jamacian Lambsbread thread for this lab site link! Go see his post of lab results for a no kidding sativa. That is when I looked at OGs to see the difference and discovered the below info...

I think I have found some info that confirms my suspicions. Looking at this lab site I see most dope is almost devoid of THC because it has a bunch of THCa. This is a cool lab / site, if the data is accurate.

See for yourselve(s), what I say. Then look at "oboma OG" and it has some THCa, but it looks like some been shifted to THC. Decarb is my guess, and thus my gas pressure. That is jar cure I suppose.

Heat only accelerates the process. Not 250 for 30 min is a moot point.

Whether the pot decarbs at 300 or at room temperature, the amount of expelled co2 should remain constant.

I decarb a lot of dab. It’s not enough gas to build the kind or pressure you are describing, not as regularly as you are describing it.

Have you googled it? Every answer.. “excess moisture. microbial respiration.”

The process of converting THC to THCa does not produces a bunch of out gassing. If you are getting jars that are bulging it's because of biologicals. Full stop.

Been thinking about this, my jars aren't popping from excess gas being released. Rather I have to pop the seal, its almost like a vacuum. Lids arent shooting off when I pull off the ring.

You could be trimming them in a warmer environment than you are storing them in. I usually do.

I hate standing still in 65 degree environment. I dry at 65, trim up at 68-70 and store back at 65, for what few weeks my shit stays around. I figure its not worth sitting in an uncomfortably cold room for what lb er two I get. If I had a big ass harvest, I'd probably reconsider trimming in a warm room.

My jar lids also suck in a little, when I've used them. The sticky around the lid exacerbates the situation a bit.

I remember my first jar harvest puffing up, though.

Mr. Boucher, I said vac pack. Dried, hand trimmed, vac packed. I have no control over that, it comes from the walmart that way.

The inner lids do kinda have to be pried off once the material has stopped off gassing, and it kinda seems like there is a slight vacuum then. That might be stickiness though.

Sry, I don't know anything about the off gassing.

I decarb a shitload of dab and have a very good visual idea about the volume of co2 created during the process. I play with bottled terpenes in my edibles, co2 and butane with my closed columns, steam pressure in my pc, negative pressure in my vac chamber.. been frequenting the weedsites since round about '00.. still unfamiliar with whatever process is occurring in your jars.

Can't know everything.

I've only ever had my pot swell like that when its dampness allowed for biological activity to take a foothold. Bet the same thing would happen if you stuffed a jar with damp grass clippings.

Just an opinion. I don't know much about much.

Something to note about bovedas.. they won’t help draw moisture out of the environment if they are already at maximum saturation, as they come out of the pack. If they currently weigh as much as it reads on the satchel, it won’t put on anymore weight. Don’t treat them like 2 way humidifiers unless they are at least partially spent.

I’ll use dried up bovedas or silica beads to draw water out of environments I deem too moist, but a brand new 62 boveda won’t help keep your jar or bucket at 62 if you put it in there with weed that is above 62..

If you don’t want your weed to dry out too quickly, dry it at 65f and 65% and let it stabilize at 60% before throwing it in a pack with a 62 boveda and a sensorpush.

Just my 2 cents.

I personally dry my shit down to 58 or people look at it funny. I don’t generally use bovedas in my buckets, as the gamma seals do a perfectly fine job of locking the humidity in at whatever the pot was at when I threw it in the bucket. I’ll pull o’s from my 2 gallon hp bucket, and hp’s from my 7 gallon bucket.

End of the day the 7 gallons only get opened up a couple times and lose almost no moisture. The 1 gallon containers get thrown into the 2 gallons, get thrown into the 7 gallons, and they all sit happily in my closet like a set of babushka dolls.

Trying to phase out the 3’s and 5’s into the garage somewhere.

I had that one jar pop and the bud was dry, crumble between thumb and finger dry. Definitely not microbial. It didn't explode, just made a "pop" sound. It was a 250 ml jar jammed tight. Jarred in the cold and opened 2 weeks later on a warm day.

Cvaults are the way to go, and come in sizes from personal jar sized to industrial sized. Perfect cure, and stays perfect. Also turns overdry weed back to the proper moisture content. Jars are a thing of the past. This is your solution. Take it of leave it, I'm not being paid to promote it, but problem solved.
