Jar curing

I have stored pot in jars for 3 and 4 years (without a vacuum) and never had a problem (well, once but it was the same strain where I found mold 2 or 3 times). If you never take it below about 55% RH, it seems to do well in jars, even for long periods.

However, I don't know how a vacuum would affect things over time. Yeah, it would seem that it would slow down or stop decarboxylization. Not sure how that would realistically affect potency. Taste and smell would logically be different in a vacuum.

I wonder how some fresh picked (dried for only a day or 2) would do in a vacuum, long term. I have a small harvest coming up soon. I'll put some fresh-picked in and find out.

On that note, I wonder how pot would do if you salt cured it and put it in a vacuum fermenter like they do veggies. They water cure pot all the time. And, bubble hash. No reason not to store it in water/salt water/whatever.

Inquiring minds what to know. LOL

There's probably a reason why pickled pot isn't a thing. If you think about it I'm sure it will become obvious.

What about filling the jar with an inert gas so there in no O2? My mig welder has Argon I think.

Already being done. They replace the oxygen (air) with nitrogen.

This is a smaller "home" unit for bags. Your nice nugs are not crushed. This demo is an extreme example, but you can adjust it from "fill" to fill and vac".

I gently roll my jars all the time to break up the clump. Otherwise all the buds clump together. Sometimes they get stuck and I give them a good shake to loosen them up. Sure a few trichs fall off. WTF, I have plenty. LOL

I love playing with my pot. Sometimes, I take them all out of the jars and sort them again. And, then put them back into the jars. LOL After all, it is a hobby. Gotta play a little. LOL

Same. :tiphat:

Never an issue taking it out and playing with it. I agree, it's all part of the experience. For those playing at home, just make sure you do it over a screen...keep those trichomes one way or the other! :dance013::woohoo:
