iPonic 600 controller

I finally got ahold of them. They're sending me a new one then i have to send the old one back. I'm disappointed with how long it took to talk to someone but happy that they'll replace it like that and would still recommend it to everyone

@PrivateAero: Im surprised you had such a problem getting a hold of some one. I had a receptionist pick up right away and had prompt callbacks by the techs same day.

I also have used their 24-7 emergency line which dialed some guys cell phone.

Dont worry once you get your new unit. My original one had the same problem yours did.
The buttons now work like a charm and the whole thing is a pleasure to use. [At first i thought maybe it was just super sensitive or something, but I was explained that the circuit board they printed it on simply has almost too much going on and probably had a short.. ]

Dispatch of the new unit did take a few days as they throughly tested the unit a few times before sending it out to me. I was happy to note, once it arrived the interface had a few updates (on start up and reset) despite the unit being listed as running the same software version.

I think some of the local shops just have or are selling original production models, Iponic has improved the design despite it looking and function the same.

@ LandscapeEscape, I am trying to hook up a ZoneMaster dampener to the low voltage relay... Schematics for the dampener are http://www.suncourt.com/ZoneMasterDiagrams.html

Damper says it requires .25 amps & 7 volts to open, When i have the low voltage wires from output 7 ran from iPonic to damper it doesn't open... Not sure if I am doing something wrong or if ZoneMaster really requires it to be hooked up to to its own power supply. iPonic says low voltage out just should not to exceed 1 amp?

IPONIC 600

IPONIC 600

I am new to this forum, but am always reading about the Iponic 600 controllers. I have the Iponics myself but have yet to get it setup and in use. I am in the middle of setting up a new grow room and am waiting for a couple PMX-2 to be delivered to run my lights. I have played around with the controller some and I love it so far and its not even running my grow equipment yet.

I do think there is so much you can do with these controllers that has not been covered by Link4 or other growers. I think an on going thread just for Iponic users is a great idea. I know I will need some help with my setup in the next couple weeks.

As far as using the low voltage to control the dampers. I did read a few pages earlier of LEDNewbie Iponic's setup doing this same thing. I am not sure how, but at least you know it can be done.

I also had some problems with my first Iponic that I recieved which was ordered though Hydrogalxy. They took forever to ship and then I recieved a unit that just did not have that new look to it. I opened it up and there was a little sticky note saying "fixed 7-13-12" I tried calling hydrogalaxy got a run around and then called Link 4 directly. They answered. They where great! Long story short is I got a brand new one at no charge with a 50 foot cord, extra sensor, and communications module for hydrogalxy's screw up. Aparently they had sent me a refurbished display model iponic 600. I give there customer service A+. Have you ever called Sentinel??? I have been trying to get replacment parts to my co2 generator for a month. Never an answer never a call back even my e-mails go unanswered. I know around my area the hydrostores are no longer selling or ordering from Sentinel just for that reason.

Iponic Ethernet Communication Setup Tip

Iponic Ethernet Communication Setup Tip

Here is a tip I found. If you do not have router setup avaiable directly in or near your growroom like me. Router is in the office top floor of my house, growroom in the basement. WNCE-2001 or WNCE-3001 made by Netgear. They are Universal WIFI Adapter for smart tv, and blueray players. They are universial and works with any device with an Ethernet port. The WNCE-2001 is so small that it can fit right inside you Iponic controller that will be one less wire you have coming off the unit. It comes with sticky velcro so it can be secured inside the unit. The WNCE-2001 comes with (2) power options. A USB power adapter, or a wall plug adapter. If you open your Iponic and move the controllers power plug down to the bottom outlet inside the controller you will then beable to utilize the other avaliable outlet located inside, and still have your USB port available for your link4 Iponic 600 data. The WNCE-3001 is not small enough to fit inside your controller however will still be able to connect your Iponic to your home internet without running wires through out your house.
Also this little internet adapter comes with push"n"connect for easy setup.
heres the link for anyone interested.

I hope you find this helpfull.
Please keep sharing the information.

THIS CAME FROM PAGE 51 of USER MANUAL
To save the log file select the Save Log Files option by highlighting it using the Wheel or by pressing Button #2 and press OK.
Currently supported Save Log File options include:
• Save History Log File
• Save Event Log Files
• USB Logging Setup
Buttons #1, #2 or #3 are used to go to the corresponding options.
On selecting the Save History Log Files a popup indicating the file formats pop-ups. Log files can be saved in either .xml or .csv file formats.
Select a given format using Wheel and pressing OK
After selecting the required format the user is promoted to choose the drive to store the file in.
User can select an option by scrolling and pressing OK
The system prompts the user to enter a file name.
Note: The process of writing from system memory to USB can be time consuming.

Thank you for this.

Lastdon, the Iponic would not be as ideal for the video you posted as its a multi room setup. Major issue is there is only one sensor with the iPonic, while it can support two, its not going to split up the functions the way you would like.

Id recommend putting the iponic in a bigger single room, but the benefits of having the iponic controls could be seen on any size setup.

Im barley pushing 4K in my flower room and its keeping my powerbill down and making my plants healthier than going old school with everything on timers. The iponic staging ensures that you dont run more equipment than you need to to keep things ideal.

the .ICF is one of the back formats for iPonic. It can save schedules and presets. The easiest way to view this file format is on the iPonic. ;-)

I wouldn't advise putting a router inside the iPonic box, sure there is room but its just one more thing heating up the controller circuit.

Well you can just stick it on the outside of the Iponic or on the wall with all the other devices. I just can imagine it getting alittle crowded with (8) power plugs (2) low voltage trigger wires, than cat-5 wire running to modems. As far as heat goes I will test and see how hot this little guy gets. I can see if it does heat up causing issues, but I also cant see it producing much heat. I will let you know.

I only posted this on here because the guys at Link4 are the ones who recomended me using the outlet inside the unit, and also sticking it directly inside.

I also wouldint of done this myself if I had an easier way. But running cat-5 wire from three stories up down to my basement was not an option for me.

Being on for about an hour the WNCE-2001 adapter temp is between 74-85 degrees. The 85 degrees is where the ethernet cord plugs into the WNCE-2001 adapter. This is the same temp the Ethernet cord is on the communication board. The adapter on the WNCE-2001 is rated at.03 of an amp. I admite this is added heat that otherwise would not be inside the controller but I feel the guys at link4 would not of adviced me to secure the adapter inside the controller if it was any issue.

Just tought it worth adding that since loging off from my link-4 cloud the temps have droped. so the above temps on the ethernet cords are only when online with link4 cloud.

Lastdon, sorry i haven't been on in a bit and I honestly wouldn't know the answer for a room that size/setup. Never worked with auto drippers/dosers.

R.C. they sent you a second sensor? where does this hook in and does it average the two readings together or can you assign them to different channels?

Landscape escape the second controller gets wired to the board. Open up the iPonic and you can see terminals to wire it labeled. As far as I know the second sensor has its own channel and works well for overrides. [Such as don't turn on fan intake if outside is 20degrees.]

They gave it to me more as a way to make good on there screw up. As far as I knew the second sensor was just to have a back up. I know the sensor only has a one year warenty as compaired to the controller its self has 3 years.

I have wondered if I could some how wire the extra sensor into the weather station inputs. I would love to beable to use it as a lung/mixing room sensor. However I have not asked Link4 about this, and wonder if it could be done if they would advice me to do it over buying individual temp/humidity, and co2 sensors.

I also am curious about the (7) anolog inputs that are also located inside the Iponic next to the weather station inputs.

So do you think if I was to remove the end of the sensor wire I would be able to wire it directly into the weatherstation inputs, or into some of the seven the other anolog inputs?

Gotcha, yeah i didnt think there was a way to wire up dual sensors. As far as i know the weather sensor is different and you can't splice a room sensor to hardwire.

Honestly they should have more sensor inputs. Run the iponic like a flip flop. 2-4 sensor inputs, the iponic checks each sensor every 10 seconds. 1 board, 4 sensors. assign different channels to different sensors, cus you don't need second by second readings. almost imitates fuzzy logic.
