In over my head - OG Panama Red

They are on 12/12 now and have been for 10 days. I don't think I've sexed them all correctly and nothing even close to a flower yet. The tropicana and OG are days away from flowering. The PR babies were young going into the tent though so that might be part of it? I had a message from a lady in the southern US who has a bunch of different landraces and she has quite a few PR. She said they start out broad leafed and after a few nodes, get long and witchy so who knows? I don't see a broad leaf but I'm still a newbie. I'm going to trade some seeds with the other lady for some of hers. She has afghani strains etc. and says they look like PR with candy striping etc.

I'll reiterate that fat fan leaves on a seedling doesn't mean much. and again, the short period it took to show sex is a BETTER indicator.

and again, the proof will be in the smoking (and how long they take to mature).

Re: your question about cloning while in flower.

You can definitely, but it takes quite awhile for the plant to switch back to veg and will have really strange growth offshoots. My mother plant went into flower and it took me a few months to reveg it and get it looking normal again.

Pics of the 7 seedlings at about 7 weeks old now. They have been in 12/12 for about 10 days now.

Wow those are some really nice sativa leaning leaves on the second pic.

Did you top these at all? The side branches look like their almost going to outgrow the main stem.

I did some LST on the babies to try and control their growth and as you can see, the new bud sites started shooting up and growing like mad.

Hey BSinger, I lurk around a lot of landrace sativa forums and there is a lot of chatter there about shortening your light cycle from the regular 12/12. Seems a lot of folks go 11/13 or even 10/14 to - moving towards less light hours as the plants mature or just starting that way from flower - seems to help shorten those ridiculous flower times..

Any other Sativa heads want to chime in and discuss? I’ve got a dr grinspoon and 3 durbans Halfway through flower atm and I’m thinking about moving to 11/13.

This is very interesting. I would love to hear thoughts on this. I'm 7 plus weeks in and still waiting on sex. I had a grower friend come over and I was completely wrong about sexing them.

This is something that the folks over at Ace Seeds make a point of recommending to their customers. I've been doing it on all of my sativas since I began exploring them. Skip 12/12 altogether and go directly from veg to 11/13. For some plants that's all that will be needed up to harvest day. For others, depending on how slow flowering occurs, you might end up halfway through flowering going down to even 10/14. It makes a huge difference. People who have tried these genetics under 12/12 oftentimes find that they keep throwing new pistils up until the end. This is diminished or eliminated with shorter day periods.

I am totally interested in others thoughts. The 7 clones will be moving out of their current tent with other strains into a tent by themselves so I could def do this.

As to the wide leaf/narrow leaf deal, I can tell you that Mr. GG's Cherry Bomb has wide leaves in veg state but when you flip them they grow really narrow leaves.

I would definitely flower with the 11/13 light/dark cycle.

It is a very good sign that these are taking their time to show sex. Makes me think these are legitimate.

Nice job!

I moved the whole strain out of the tent they were in and now are all by themselves in a new tent. I also started 13/11 this as well.

I also sat down and went through all my notes and today, they are exactly 8 weeks old.

They used to be a pretty plant but now with the long, witchy leaves, I'm not so sure. :)

Hi:)Have you checked the leaves with a mic to eliminate any bug infestation ?

On the daily a few times a day. I also have those sticky bug strips in there in case I missed any and have dill growing besides the plants.
I would flush her, and, then sit back for a few days to see how she reacts to that.

I was just checking on the 2 week old clones that I took off of 2 separate plants and tagged the ones I removed them from.

Is it possible for the clones to show sex before the seedling plant I took them from? I took clones off plants in 12/12 and put the clones back in that tent.

Was just about to post this.

Check under the leaves, the slight curling up of the leaves and texture slightly resembles russet mites.

Look for little red/brown dots under the leaves that may move. Should be able to see with naked eye

Just did this am and not a bug to be found. I use a magnifying glass. No bugs on white sticky bug catchers either.
