First of all calling people yanks where I'm from is the utmost of disrespect. but your not from here so you wouldnt know. as for the cool factor, guns arent cool and I wish so bad they never existed but unfortunately they do. If the police and government are gonna have it then I should have the option as well. what makes a community college educated retard more capable of protecting me than me? Does your country's police have guns? If so then why cant you? its truly sickening but research what happened to Jews in Nazi Germany. if shit truly hit the fan and you where part of the group destined for the camps would you at least prefer to die fighting them or does being a slave until too weak to work then being turned into soap sound preferable? I hope no one takes offence to what I've said its just how I feel.

The Howard government offered free software to parents 3 yrs ago to do exactly the same thing,, to date there are only 26,000 households using it.
I think Kevin Rudd is impressed with how the Chinese govt. have successfully blocked all free speech.
I use to think having a Mandarin speaking Prime Minister was cool, but now I'm not so sure.
For the record I haven't had any probs to date, no proxy - yet.

Cant edit? Owell, for the record, i discovered this site whilst doing a year 11(or 12?) science project on hydroponics. This site is perhaps the best free source of info on hydroponics i've ever found. And i hate to tell the government, but not 1 person has ever died from smoking MJ.
Let's not just fly off the handle here and call Americans something when clearly your having an issue with a few peoples opinions not Americans. How much time have you spent in the U.S.A. or even with Americans?
For everyone who has something negative to say about what Austrailians are letting their country become they should take a look at their own.
America is the in the top ranks of stealth rights removal. We were easily, I repeat easily scared into shitting on our most sacred rights when we let the government destroy privacy forever. Even worse is the failure of the general American population to even recognize it's happened. I would take a superficial website ban that can be defeated with simple alternate technologies over the current state of privacy in the U.S.A. where they admittedly listen in to phone calls without warrants, searches without any requirement for warrant or even to announce they searched. How about the entire new wave of government employees who comprise Homeland Security, these people are the new secret police specifically working to keep an eye on Americans, you know so we don't get hurt.
The America my grandfather fought & died for is gone and guys now it's looking like the fear that killed it is leaking out of the U.S.A. into the rest of the world the same way the bubbles leaked out of our banks and wreaked havoc on the rest of the world.
I only hope that the tides don't wash over the entire world as we know it and leave the shoreline changed forever.
