Well I'm not sure what those two above me are on about (off topic?), but back to ICMag being banned in Oz.....

.... I'm not sure that complaining to Telstra that you can't get on to ICMag is such a good idea.... they've already proven to be hand-in-glove with the powers that be by sneaking in this "filter"..... Maybe complaining that you can't get onto HipForums is a better idea, at least that way you won't raise any red flags that you read about weed..... you have to remember there are a lot of morons out there who believe whatever the TV tells them, and would gladly dob in a 'druggie.'..... *sigh*....

I actually think that there may be positives to this - particularly in that being forced to use a proxy reminds us of the security issues involved with using the internet to talk about our favourite hobby.... if you don't use a proxy your IP address is traceable, after all.

Well lets see Publuic library NO Proxy straight in less then 10 seconds. DONT believe the HYPE.
Rudd is a chinese speaking former Beijing diplomat.
We have gone from $22Billion in front to Announce as $42Billion dollar deficiet in a very short Labor party Time..

dude, that wasgoing to happen regardless of who was in power. we were in front for a full year and a half no problems then all the credit shit happenned on wall street and the economy plummeted. Its got nothing to do with a labour government.

it wasn't off topic, my point was that if Ic mag censores its members/self so much, (eg. you cannot post ******s name because he didn't wanna sell his seeds on seedbay), why the huge outcry over censorship? It seems there should either be free speech or not, I don't believe in half measures.

But I do believe it to be a bad thing, I can't believe australia is doing this, but I think icmag should ease up a bit too. hope not to cause offense lol
peace an love

some ppl may not be able to afford to complain to telstra true....but some can....cops cant do shit to someone reading these sort of sites....if i cant read anything on the net theres no use in using it...cause whats next?...then after that whats next? telling them may not do a thing....but i dont like sitting on my hands.HH. =]-~

it's happening in australia because of its large populations of religious pple that just censor everything thats ungodly, I dont just mean christians and stuff but lebanese and other cultures that take religion more into the forefront of how they decide to live thier lives than the more relaxed populations you tend to find in say canada for laws affecting lives , ours is less influenced by religion(butstill lots of laws are based on a religious lifestyle) I will nto add america to that list not to offend but for the most part congress is a bunch of god fearing jesus folk although alot of them are not but act that way for the votes as religious and old pple vote mad, why appeal to the populations that barely vote?????? However the recent election of Obama has given those paticular americans the rebirth of thier illusion they control the politics and a single poltiician can make a change on the grand scale of things , Obama can do good things but he doesnt runt the country ....
Back to topic Australia's in a defining moment right now, and racial tensions are intense ...... internet censorship could have been an appeal to the less tollerent religious communities thier for votes ,who knows we can only speculate what the causes are but It's shitty that the nation has taken a step back in personal freedom and they have decided to treat thier entire population like KIDS, Like the parent that bubbles their kids from the real world.......TOKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you man,,,,, just be careful.

thing is they apparently have no intention of prosecuting anyone for sidestepping the filter.... its entire purpose is supposedly to stop 'accidental exposure' to unwanted/illegal content.... pity it slows down the entire internet in Oz,,,, and a pity it's some religious-right nutjob making the decisions on what gets on the banned list.... I really don't need some moron mormon telling me what I can and can't look at. Fricking nanny state behaviour of the lowest order.

I would have thought that parental guidance would work better, in any case....

anyways, fuck the man, and proxy away!

Please read my update to the original post. Things have changed again in Australia and there is a new opt-in filter they are trying right now.

If anyone is still having a problem accessing this site from Australia, please post here if you can! :)

I am in Australia with AAPT and cannot access ICMag unless I use a proxy through Internet Explorer. I have lodged a formal complaint with my ISP.

Didn't stop me getting my copy of that book.

That filtering program is only but a minor nuisance anyway. Probably good that we have to use a proxy server anyway, so they are really doing us a favour!!!!

Jorge Cervantes indoor bible may be banned but most good stores have a small stack of them.

Fortunately some do get thru as others have said.

And it looks like the police are on the verge of banning Mardi Grass... Good luck with that! Smoke 'em out, Aussies!
