Nope...So Cali (Orange County) area. Grew up in fabulous Long Beach area for the first dozen years of my life or so.

Yeah, KTLA and KTTV and KHJ (??? channel 9) were the kiddy channels. And all went off the air playing the national anthem. LOL, you would fall asleep watching some show and poof you would wake up with "da da da dah daaaah...." playing rather loud.
Long beach pike ?

Cylcone Racer I think it was called. Wooden roller coaster that was almost on the beach sand. LOL, the Pike got racy in the 60s--all the navy boys looking for a little nookie, and hotel rooms were lit with "red lights".

I recall stumbling from AM radio (KRLA) to KABC FM with Doctor John as the DJ. Long before KMET, KROQ, KNAC or even KLOS came on the scene. Then, at night there was always KPPC (an artsy freedom of speech radio that had this crazy guy named "Dr Demento").

LOL...my dog spot. Didn't that guy used to wrestle tigers or something for his commercials?

And then there was this corny show hosted by Chuck Barris...The Gong Show. There are 2 moments that make me laugh everytime I watch them...and both were "live TV" and were never re-broadcasted on the West Coast. Both are a kick to watch--

Twins sucking on popsicles like no one's business

And the one Jaye P Morgan flashed her tits (about 1 minute into it)--

Back in the late 70s I was a candy man to the Hollywood scene and one of my customers (yep had a beeper...lol) was a script writer for TV soap operas and had a huge library of crazy shit that happened in front of the camera...much of it never was aired (except when it happened "live")...lol.

Loved the Gong Show. Pushed the limits of TV. Chuck always looked blazed and loved his clap.

The unknown comic was cool too.

Damn near everybody I've ever spoke to about those Cal Worthington commercials thought the lyrics to the song said "pussy cow, pussy cow, pussy cow" instead of "go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal".

I say nearly everyone because one person said they thought Cal and Worthington were partners and the guy who wrestled gorillas' first name was Gosee and his last name was Cal! Mr. Worthington wasn't on the commercial!!!!lol

I remember when there was no weed at all. Just hashish. Mostly from Maroc, Lebanon and Afghanistan. Often terrible quality, but sometimes it knocked you down and sent you out to space. Sometimes, not often, there were excellent qualities. I remember a yellow lebanon hashish, which was creamy when you warmed it up. I remember we were so stoned, nobody was able to lift his arm to start the MC again.
I remember when we smoked in the car, often on crowded parking places in front of our favourite pubs or anywhere out in the countryside watching the sundown, listening Fela Kuti. Spending whole evenings stoned with our buddies in the car smoking, listening, chatting, laughing, smoking, smoking, listening...
Greetings from Germany.
