Greetings and Welcome!
In time, I've gotten used to doing my daily gardening chores, and now enjoy it. Some of my best grows have been small grows, I think it's the attention to detail that allows you to do a better job, giving you better results. I'm unsure what your situation is, indoors, outdoors, plant limits, lighting, space etc....I'm sure we could help you setup something manageable, or work with you on how you're doing things now to maybe make it easier.
For me, it's a labor of love, just like you have.

my wife needs it as medicine so I am constantly growing it

I love growing but it is hard work growing suitable quality and quantity medicine for yourself or a partner.

What a great person you are to be doing all this hard work for your wife.

Most of the hardwork for me is hauling the water and compost.

Maybe you could try to convert to rockwool cubes or a lighter medium and get a plumber to plumb a water source closer to the tent may help too.

I hang a hook from the ceiling to do trimming and do it standing up as it is easier.

I hope you find love for growing the plant again

Hi, new guy here. I grow marijuana but it's a lot of work. I dont really want to do it anymore, but my wife needs it as medicine so I am constantly growing it because of legal restrictions. I cant just do a big crop and relax. Cant afford to buy it, so I'm stuck. It's like a damn nightmare.
Why not do a perpetual? Even in a 2x2 tent you can simplify your process. While one plant is flowering, you start another seed. So now you have one major plant to focus on vs an entire tent. If you get what I’m trying to say?

Welcome 👍

When you say legal restrictions, do you mean you are restricted to a small number of plants? Or do you mean straight up prohibition? Do you have a yard to grow in or are you strictly working indoors?

Cannabis growing can be pretty complicated, but it doesn't have to be. If you can grow outdoors, the plants can nearly take care of themselves. If you don't need the bag appeal of retail/black market cannabis, you can produce adequate herb with minimal effort.

And if you need to grow indoors, try to learn to appreciate the plants. Cannabis is beautiful...think of it like growing flowers. Or try to appreciate the miracle of being able to produce natural medicine that helps your lovely wife.

Anything that is grown with love will be far superior to something grown with resentment, so I recommend finding a way to inject some love and appreciation into the project.

I wish you and your wife health and happiness ❤️

Growing weed seems like a very minor inconvenience if you are able to help your wife in a way regular medicine can't. That sounds like a dream to me, more than a nightmare. Cheer up and enjoy the forum!!

That would be nice. I have not changed anything because if I mess up and lose a harvest we both suffer so I have stuck with what works. I would like things to be easier, and there is a lot I do not know or have not thought of. I have to stay relatively legal, but there is no inspector coming around as of yet. A recent surprise power outage showed me how suddenly strangers can need access to inside our apartment. Our only option is indoor growing.

2 seperate tents. 2x2 (60x60x160cm) and 2.5x2.5 (80x80x180cm) Homebox ambient. Clip fans.

Lumatek attis pro 200 in the bigger tent. Viparspectra xs1500 pro in the smaller tent.

Dehumidifier

Plus a cardboard box. I mention that because of airflow. Inline fan pulls fresh air into cardboard box which is where we hang fresh cut plants to dry in darkness until ready for jars. Then that air enters small tent where it exits into bigger tent where it goes through an air filter and exits into the kitchen. This way there is no smell to disturb anyone.

Been growing organic, using cannaterra professional as growing medium. Started with biobizz nutrients, but switched to ordinary tomato fertilizer (4-8-10 for flowering) and herb fertilizer for veg to save money. Works fine. Dont need to pay extra for cannabis labeled phosphorus or nitrogen. Would love to use a 0-15-15 for flowering but to many shady companies adding synthetic PGRs is not worth the risk. Soil enriched with DE and mycorrhizal fungi. If I overwater mushrooms pop up so I know the fungi is working.

I use rainwater I disinfect with a little H202 and water collected from the dehumidifier. Dehumidifier makes about 2 liters of water in 24 hours in winter. If I use tap water, I have to add a little vinegar to get it where it needs to be.

Genetics are true medical cannabis (as in medical strains of antiquity) most of the time like Lesotho and Nigerian, or heirlooms like Mazar or Idukki. Depends on what has run out on the shelf. I dont even grow what I would like to consume because of limitations. Maybe one day.

The law here is 3 plants per adult per household. There is a harvest limit, but it's not so important at this point. The real limitation is the space. I cant devote anymore real space than what I have now. Maybe a small spot for seedlings. The only thing I can think of is adding cO2.

I reuse my soil one time, mixing it 50/50 with biobizz all-mix to make sure there is some nutrients in it to kick things off. The constant buying of soil, and throwing it out seems stupid. But in an apartment I cant make a compost pile or even a bucket without being a problem. So I am open to trying coco but not hydroponic. Too much is lost in hydroponic for the end product.

Germination is always a tense time. With such genetics, each seed is valuable and seed stock has to be taken into account. Old seeds need help to germinate, I'm slowly becoming an expert at first aid for semi-old seeds.

That's about all I can say about equipment and supplies.

It can be a lot of work especially the trimming. Maybe you could teach the wife to grow or at least help out . Share the work. And change the attitude into being more positive about it .happy happy..
Take the bull into the china shop? I've had to save the grows a few times this year already from sudden death. But you are right, if I can get her to listen, and if she had the desire to help, that would be worth working towards. I'll make it a long term project to work towards that. I already have been telling her secrets in case I leave the body before her. Being positive is as imbalanced as being negative. It is what it is. I just accept what is.

I think you understand my situation best of all. Quality and quantity. We are older. Arthritis was hard this winter. Some days I could only use one arm for most things. I appreciate the tips. I will try that with the trimming. I didnt think of that. Now that I think about it... I can run a hose from the dehumidifier to the tent and collect the water it accumulates closer to the tents. I can repurpose ab electric water fountain pump I have to bring the rain water from the balcony. You have already saved me some aches and pains in the future.

That would be great. Carrying the soil up and then down the steps again to get rid of it is a constant chore. I have to research lighter mediums.

I appreciate your compassion. It makes me feel as if I am not so alone in this struggle.
