the only time i ever got busted i was 14 had like a nickel with me and we where smokin down at a construction site with no one around. My friends and i are high as hell and just tossin rock around because we were bored. Well a man had decided to call the police because he saw 4 kids down at a bridge one with a sledgehammer (friggin stick how can you mistake that, real little one too). Two of my friends had left and one of which yelled my name. I turn around an there are the cops. I'm pretty stoned so I take off and so does my friend. We get to a restraunt with no where to go (but i thought of multiple ways after that) and we turn around, the cop says freeze. I'm like sh*t. Got hook with a nice little misdemeanor and a $63 dollar fine. Could have bought a quad with that. Of course there that one time I got arrested for driving while suspended. Otherwise thats the time i got busted.

So far its usually someone rats or stupid behavior.
No Flir or exorbinant electric bills unless someone out there knows differently.
I know there is the odd case where smell gets the cops involved but that fits in with stupid behavior.
Its seems us growers get caught due to someone giving us up or a dumb mistake (driving around with a pd of pot with a tail light out). Nothing sophisticated unless there already on to you and there're building a case.

I have never once seen a case of excessive electricity useage led to a bust of growers. I have seen LEO raid that families house in Cali, I believe, but it was a normal family who did a lot of laundry.

Most of the time in Canada if you read carefully, it was a rat or stolen electricity.

if you want to know how someone was busted, read the damn court transcript or look at the search warrant. all these documents are public records.

Supertoker I've done that (looked for cases on the internet) and only a few are posted. Anyways the idea is to benefit everyone with this thread as to what is a threat to your security and what isn't.

No offense mac but the whole premise of the post is like asking retards what makes them so smart. You should start another post for people that have grown for very long stretches without ever being busted for they seem to hold the info you need.

never had a prob yet.{ knocks on wood}. real easy to not get caught. just takes some basic steps and common sense.

stealth,keep mouth shut and dont trust anyone. stay away from other growers,dealers much as possible.dont get your woman\man ect involved if possible. the more they seem to love ya now the more mad and spitefull they will be later. pretty much sums it up

Sorry bout that, it wasnt intended to scare them off but in reality we already know about 99% of the mistakes growers make to get themselves busted. The po-po hasnt really learned anything new in the realm of investigations and havent been given any new powers that are grower specific for getting us so the playing field has gone largely unchanged for a long time.

A lot of busts vary from location to location in terms of legal help and their methods of justice. For example I have heard of people being served warrants based on anonymous tips with no physical evidence. In my area there isnt a judge within 250 miles that will sign that warrant. On the flip side I have also heard of lawyers that will tell their clients to plea bargain those cases when a better one would fight it.

When the majority of grower cases get plea bargained based on the assumption that the state has/had enough evidence to charge you with the crime then the other good information to know would be the court proceedings. Like people that successfully got their initial warrants tossed out for lack of probable cause.

I got fucked by a buyer and did 5 months, just got out days ago actually, oh well he got it worse.

I start this thread and I forgot the story about a local who grows ( common knowledge)that had a plant or three growing in his backyard which backs onto a high school, don't you know.
The house next door went up for sale and the realtors had an open house where upon the listing agent saw the plants and feeling that this was bad for business bragged at the office she was phoning the cops.
Another agent probably a occassional user knocked on his door to warn him of his impending demise which he shrugged off.
Well Leo busted the joint and because he was at work took his wife away in cuffs (a wonder she ever speaks to him again).
He still grows to this day (in his backyard) and like clock work gets ripped off by the high school kids who giggle their asses off about just how stupid he is.
This happened about 5- 6 years ago and as I say its common knowledge amongst the kids he grows and leo is either not well connected or chooses to ignore it

City water services called RCMP, RCMP did two warrantless property serarches, then months later they got a warrant based on lies and the one high water bill months earliar.

Trial is in mid-December, trying to get the evidence thrown out for Charter reasons, since entering evidence obtained in shady manners would bring the court system into disrepute. Defending myself in court cause I'm broke.

me and the ol'lady got busted monday .not my grow it was my sons grow.they picked him up last nite(he was in the holding cell as i was gettin bailed out) i'm screwed! wasn't my grow but it was in my house and i knew about it my wife didn't know. they released her without charging her. i got charged with manafacturein a controled substance (they said 33 plants,i had no idea how many plants they were growing) and possesion of parifinalia. we were snitched off by some rat bastard who said we sold him a bag. i dont sell weed, i never have.i was useing for med porpose only.the only reason i let them grow in my basement was so i could have some for me. ah well i'm fucked !
