I don't want a civil war. I want people to get along. People need to stop shitting all over things other people like. It is quite simple. Live and let live. The next generations need to sail their ships in the waters they find themselves in. If you can't make people change you need to find fixes for the problems.
Way back the cave men were all waiting for lightning to start a fire and then carry the fire embers around wherever they went. One individual was responsible for keeping it going. Then some young new cave kid starting working on a solution and one day he rubbed two sticks together and all his generation didn't have to worry about carrying around hot embers.

Fix the solution. Invent something. Fix things and row your own boat.

I absolutely do not believe you. You were not in the Marines. No way.
My brother is 9 years older than me. He was in Viet Nam and was in 8 years. I joined for 4 years but got an honorable discharge after 2.5 years because they discovered I had a bleeding disorder called Von Willebrand's disease.
I don't give a fuck if you believe me. I only answered your question out of respect because you are a veteran and ask me.

Please insult me some more. It's great.

The shooter didn't use an AR15.

Only shotguns?? Go watch some old zombie movies and see how many people you can shoot with a pump Winchester Model 12 12g shotgun. As you keep the trigger pulled it shoots every time you pump it back and it holds 7 shells of 00 buckshot. One shell could put down 10 people in agony. Then you can slowly walk around putting a 22 round in their head from a 19 round pump, tube fed 22 rifle.

The shotgun has been around since 1909 and the pump 22 since 1960 or so and very few people went around killing more than 4 people at a time.

It is the crazy people. They will find ways. They could poison people. Kill with a car. You can't ban everything. The crazy people are from everywhere. They aren't just white. They aren't just republicans. They aren't just men. We need to stop debating those false talking points.

I WANT TO GET ALONG WITH MY FELLOW WEED ENTHUSIASTS.

Don't care subrob. Who are you? Fuck off. How can you steal valor when I have never mentioned it. You ask I answered. I will never bring it up again. There was no stolen valor. Do you know what stolen valor is?? Evidently not. Please STFU and stop asking me any more questions about my life. This thread isn't about your beliefs. Stay on point.

You guys do live in legal land right? You could always just state when, where, and what regiment you served in right? I've never served so hope I got my terminology right, but that'd be a quick way to resolve this.

I read those reports about Half Moon Bay today, as I used to live there, and recall thinking 11 didn't even seem like a mass shooting any more. That's a pretty fucked up way to think about it, but it's such a common story these days that when it doesn't effect you, it's just another story. I'm inclined to agree with the culture comments from previous posts. Where I live, we had one of the worst mass shootings in recent history, 50 people murdered, yet have some of the most stringent gun control measures in the modern world. That guy bought all those weapons legally, then legally trained himself at local shooting ranges.

The instant gratification our modern culture is being built upon is starting to have far dire consequences than I think we ever realized.

I don't care if they ban AR15 type weapons but I also don't care if they allow them. I don't worry the least about my many friends that have them. I like to hunt a little and my ammo is precious. I have older rifles and pistols. The ammo is scarce and expensive for my .218 bee and my Winchester 32/20. Even reloading. I like to use the .218 and carry the pistol for some fun shots.

My friends spend a ton of money on ammo. 22 shells are not always easy to find and seem cheap but when they go through 1000 rounds in a day having fun it adds up quick. 9mm shells are roughly $30 for 20 shells. And their 9mm pistols hold 14 and the old guns can fire as long as the trigger is pulled back. 14 shots in a couple seconds.
22 shells are 10-20 cents a piece. Most bigger shells like 9mm or 30/30 are a $1.50 a piece. Some of the AR15 shells are 50 cents each.

I don't understand how people can afford to shoot for fun like they do. How do they sell so many expensive to own toys? They all drive big trucks too. Then I show up with my old pistol and my Chevy Spark. But we all get along even though we are quite different.

I remember someone posting a video, maybe here, of a YouTube video. It was an elderly Asian naturalized American citizen testifying before congress. Pointing out America does not have a gun problem, but a cultural problem. Great video. Guns have been here as long as us colonizers have been. And mass shooting were not a problem until recently. Recently in historical terms. I firmly believe this is 100% true. The issue has now become...our culture is so rotted, our society in such shambles, that we need stricter laws just to limit the damage. As PATHETIC as that is.
I'm now a big proponent of the idea I first heard from guys in Lynyrd Skynyrd...revolvers, bolt or lever rifles, and shotguns. Not that I don't like semi's or think that they are the problem, but it would cut down the number of children that get murdered in these mass shootings. Which, regardless of what's laws are passed are going to continue for at least a couple more generations.

Here's the best things both 'sides' can do to further discussion:

2a boiees- stop citing the 2a as set in stone and spouting the nonsense of militia means white trash beer drinking clubs.

Anti 2a boiees- if you know nothing about weapons, never used them, stay out of the discussion.(not THIS discussion, the larger one...lol) You not helping any more than fat bubba boogaloo is.
I agree that the US has a cultural problem that extends to a general disregard for much of life, and others' values, too.

That has been with us for years... centuries, even.

Ask the Sioux if there were drive-by shootings. Or those who were involved in mixed-race marriages in the 50s and 60s, who had their houses shot up, or found burning crosses in their yards (Spokane saw such things from Richard Butler's ilk right into the early 1980s).

But now, reminiscent of Dick Gregory's commentary at Kent State a year after the Nat'l Guard shootings, we've turned our guns on ourselves
.
Ironically there's folks here at this pot site who think it's dandy if a member of the LGBTQ groups or sub-groups gets wasted or beaten. Ironic because this group, the weed smokers and growers, spent about 85 to 100 years being victimized, persecuted by others' standards and biases who thought that we were harming someone by merely being, having a toke, and eating too many cheese burgers or Doritos.. Sound familiar?

Why not? 'We come from a culture and history that romanticizes cowboy-ism, and more. We play world policeman and justify it sixteen different ways. We commit crimes in others' countries that if they did the same here, we'd threaten to turn those nations into glass. And we elevate much of that to hero status based on PR that's often so full of horseshit it's amazing anyone even swallows it, let alone digesting it. Toxic nationalism, clanism, group-ism, partisanism, and more isms.

Add some poverty, a major disparity in economic or social futures and related prospects, a pandemic that has everyone questioning tomorrow, and life becomes more tentative than most of the comfortable middle class has ever seen or experienced before.

We can't glorify the 'Big Stick' approach to International and National issues, thinking we can justify 'some' outrageous violence, and not expect that message to trickle down. Like a drinking parent telling their kids to be sober. Doesn't work very well. Never has, and never will.

That ain't how this goes down slick.
You don't "mention" valor to steal it.
You 100% did not serve. Maybe you wanted to, and couldn't because of your medical condition. And if that's the case, you get a very small amount of sympathy from me. It would be a normal size serving of sympathy if you were not right in the middle of stealing valor.
So here's how it's going to go. I'm gonna quit busting your balls for it. For now. This is a European site filled w people, I'm sure, who couldn't care less about American military subjects. But if I see one fukn mention of anything military from you, on any subject, you will get a proper response from me. And trust me, that is the absolute gentlest response you will ever receive from a veteran.

Brother Nature I live in Pennsylvania. It is in one of the worst states to be busted growing in. This is the only time I ever mentioned it. If you would go way back in posts I told people I was never in the military that asked because I don't care that I was. I don't care now. I was 9 years after my brother joined. The war was over. I didn't do one heroic or important thing.
I am getting older and I don't care what anybody thinks anymore so I didn't care that I answered him and I don't care what he thinks. He is always insulting like many around here.

Hey @Gypsy Nirvana there is somebody in this thread that thinks all old people are fat, lazy and can't fight. After I beat the crap out of subrob do you want to give him a go so he knows he was wrong. LOL!
He said you are lazy, slovenly, can't run, are afraid of blood and would run at the first sign of danger. He did. He really did. You are as old as me.

You cared enough to bring it up in the first place though. I wasn't trying to shit on you, but the way you type about it comes across odd. I come from a family of service men, from Europe, the Commonwealth, and the US, it was always imprinted on me that they served so I never had to, to me there's a level of respect that those who have served do deserve and to fake that is a bitch move, as is tattling to the big man.

You should change your handle to 'Gunna'...

Laughable. And sad at the same time. And actually criminal. Pathetic. Typical. Not to mention more transparent w every word you type.
For someone threatening both assault AND murder in the course of this conversation, running to gypsy seems an odd move. But then again, you jarheads are known for crying to authority. 😂🤡

When I say what I say about the 2a boiees, see itarzan for exactly what I mean. Again man, thank you for illustrating every one of my points so..... beautifully

All these God fearing people with guns. You would think that they didn’t need guns , if god was looking out for them. 🤷‍♂️

What the hell are you talking about subrob. You are a pedophile. Nobody cares what you think. You throw your veteran status around as much as you can. But in the end you are still a pedophile. You are laughable and sad at the time. See I can make shit up too. Murder?? I never threatened to murder you. Stop it.

And stop pretending you can tell what people did or didn't do by their post on a pot forum.

The post to gypsy is funny. It's a joke. You really believe it was a cry for help? He is one of the old people you speak of. He should know what you think about him. He will see the joke but find the base concept very interesting.
