HMK Rosin Press Tutorial

Aright, round 2. This time i did it by the book. The only thing i wasnt 100% clear on was the also the part that included exploding presses, so I wanna make sure I got this right before I fire it up. I ductaped around the press end real good, then put a layer of cardboard, then taped over that, then taped the switch unit over that. I turned it on for a second, then got uh lil nervous and smelt some burning rubber maybe, so decided to unplug n take some pics...
Looks good GET MO! I press at the setting of 12 for no longer than 10 seconds but I try to do 7 second presses until there is nothing expressing out. To melt the plates turn it all the way up an slowly apply pressure as they melt together. When ya get then looking like the pic in the first few posts then your golden an you won't have to bring it up to that temp ever again.
I ran a heat gun an found I was pressing between 155-165 around, originally thinking I was at 220. I used a chair to press down the trigger an sit in it as I clamp down because of my arthritis an it gives me a stronger an quicker clamp down.

I'm familiar with the hibernating my friend lol, I've been getting cabin fever over here with the guard dog duty to keep my harvest in my hands.
Took this down over the last 4 days, so I should be squishing some in the next week. Ended up with an insane amount of sugar trim to make some IWE to press up.

you can drill and put a nut and bolt through the clamp bar to stop the bottom jaw where ever you want it to to avoid ever having it rip the wires off

these str810ers all have nice plastic coverings. why didnt you take it apart so you could use the coverings to house the electrical compentnts the way they came? just saw the portions that the elements were on, off. then screw everything back together.

oh man, I wish I took a pic of yesturdays doobie. melted some 73u bubble rosin all over inside the paper, rolled up a fatty, and coated the outside with 73u first wash micro planed. I have to say, it was nice. And this is the first time I ever microplaned my hash, I usualy just squish the water out and smoke it, its like a whole new thing being done the right way I love it.
oh, and I guess my HMK is going to retire, as I now have a 20 ton press and pids and goodies being shipped here as I type this, dang I cant wait.
Love the rosin pics everybody, I find we dont smoke to much bud anymore, just rosin for the most part...

Squishes look killer. I put off my press build cause of certain issues but she will be built someday. Get some pics up of that press when ya get it in action. Hoping to press some in a lil over a week probably.......hoping lol.

How do you guys gather all the rosin together once you have squished it out all over the parchment paper?
How do you get all the goo off the buds and keep it on the parchment too? This looks like it would cause a lot of waste to buds. What about the bud once you have squished it??
i make glass tools to collect it, they work great. I can get over 20% yield on some strains, i think the waste is not much if any.
like the squished bud after getting the rosin? can squish it again, alcohol soak it, bho it, make oil/butter for cooking, vap it, etc

I can rarely dab up the rosin from a fat joints worth of herb in one sitting...I generally have zero problems smoking the entire joint if I rolled it up instead...I'd go as far as saying I conserve more by making rosin.

Yeah, I would smoke so many damn joints in a day. No matter if I'm alone or with ppl, I tend to roll very large joints. I can make a gram of rosin stretch out 2 or 3 days if I try to conserve. Like you said, the bud that would of made that, would of been smoked and gone sooner than the rosin would of. Crazy to think about lol. Def going to start growing extra just for rosin. tbh, I have not smoked bud in couple months, just rosin...
Thanks again for the idea of the HMK setup Hashmasta-Kut, been checking out your wares online, looking nice. I went from the flat iron, to your hmk setup, to now a large press with my own custom plates and controller, Ive come a long way and your thread here has helped me get to where I am now.
