Are you guys washing the filter material with ISO and re-using or just chucking?

I wash my filter material I use which is the 25 u hash bag I cut up. Just pour some iso is a cup an swirl them around after all have been pressed. Grab a paper towel to dry them an clean the remaining hairs an such off. If I press the same strain I usually can get 2 presses out of each filter before I clean them. Ya just gotta pic off anything that might get on the outside to keep the rosin clean.

I can't stress this enough on getting a tight wrap on your material an giving it a pre-cold press. You want the steam to expel the oil out of the pouch an not sit on the sides where it is loose possibly. My gushers come outta 2.5-3.0 gram presses that are pre-cold pressed an wrapped tight as hell.

Soooooo It seems I have been pressing at 155-160 my heat gun says. I got it for my banger to see what temps/times to hit ect. an just decided to get a read on my plates last night. Ya setting 12-13 is not 220 lol. No wonder my oil is so light colored

Ive been using coffee filters to press my keif. Has anyone tried the coffee filters and the screens and do you see any differences? Besides you can reuse the screens obviously.

I like the hash bag material because it has a little give so no rips, an the reuse factor too. Never tried coffee filters cause this tech gets me good numbers.

Saw a demo of a rosin press at the Hawaii Cannabis Expo this weekend. Dude was telling people to press for 2 minutes at 200 degrees lol. Sad.

Here's some pull an snap i pressed of A5 haze bx1

An some bud chips

I use un bleached coffee filters with a double fold on the seams, and I apply pressure gradually to avoid potential tearing. I only use the filter for kief/hash. I have yet to try it with flowers, but if I did I would definitely pre press/form the flowers into a a snake and burrito tech wrap the filter

I tried coffee filters with flowers but seemed like much of the rosin was absorbed by the paper? perhaps my handclamp setup isn't forceful enough

when using the paper filters you really want to size your filter pack to your material well, and limit the excess paper, when I press hash I pre-press it into a chicklet size piece roughly and then fold the filter around it. with kief I make up a pouch then press the kief into it as well as I can. ultimately I think that reducing the amount of excess filter paper and prepressing are key(pre-pressing is especially crucial when pressing flowers & keif)

I'm gonna try a little burrito tech with some jelly donuts right now actually lol I may even take and post a picture lol

i've got a new pre-press tech---it's the budget version of sunfire's :biglaugh:

i just put my trim in a quart ziplock under a board and stand on it for a while! then i use scissors to cut up the pressed rectangle into smaller pieces that will fit my rosin press properly.

i measured the bag and then weighed out my trim so that i'd end up with the same 0.5g/sqare inch i've been working with.

way faster than packing pouches!

it's been a while since i've measured deez but last time i was keeping track i was getting an average of 15% for first press.

i have been extracting more from the wafers using ethanol every time i accumulate enough to make it worthwhile.

we have great trim tho.

that's a completely reasonable return, I'm going to have to give that a try. thanks a bunch.

my snake in a burrito blew out on me, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get the return that I would have just pressing fat bowl sized nugs pre pressed into small balls with no filter. just gotta keep trying I suppose.

i'm using a 4 ton shop press btw, so i'm in the 1333 psi range with these pieces (they end up right aroudn 2"x3" after squishing).

you can totally press your material like this to prep for the HMK press, but i was getting more in the 10% range with first press trim when i was using one. quality was excellent tho.

the same sized packet in the HMK press would be squished at around 100 psi.

The hand clamp I use is the 600 lb one an I sit on a chair an use the edged of the chair to push the clamp trigger so both hands can force it downwards getting as tight as possible. :tiphat:
