It's weird, huh FP? In my case it's only happening with three of the 15 plants I have in the ground. I wouldn't be surprised at a little early flower formation, but these three are seriously busting out some bud and have been for weeks now.
Good idea on the supercropping, smokateer. I'd heard that it slows growth down a little but never thought to do it specifically for that reason. I'll try it!
Wow, with all the amazing outdoors grows going on here, I'm surprised anyone's paying much attention to mine! I've been remiss updating because I've been converting my basement to a grow room...and also because I cleverly lost the 1 gigabyte photo storage device for my new digital camera.
Tell you what though, I'll bust out my old cam and snap a few shots after work. The garden is doing amazing. I'm really, really psyched about it.
Yes sir, that's the plan! With that room at a near-constant 68 degrees ambient temperature even in the summer, I just had to make it over. Proving to be a bigger project than I'd bargained for, but also an exciting one. Gonna take my time and do it right, especially since I've got this grow going on...it's not like I'm going to be doing without!
OK, I took a coupla pics with my old digicam this afternoon. Here's one of my stitched-together dealios showing the whole garden (can anyone spot the tomato plant?). ::
I like the sunflowers in this one...wish I'd planted a few more of 'em.
You can't see these two plants in the "big picture"; they're hiding out behind a patch of daisies. The one on the right is a White Widow, and the one on the left is one of the Caramella clones that I put in the ground. Seeing it get so much bigger than the ones in the five-gallon pots makes me wish I'd done the same with the rest of those clones, but hey...shouldn't get too greedy, right? (Yeah, I'm not convinced, either.)
That White Widow is bushing out so nicely that I've decided to start my first basement grow with clones taken from her.
I'm looking to improve my cloning skills and hope for 100 percent success with this attempt. Wish me luck!
Actually, I just realized that I put the Caramella clones in 3-gallon pots, not 5-gallon ones. They started flowering awhile back, which may explain why they didn't get bigger...though the fault may be mine too, I probably could have given 'em somewhat better drainage. It's OK though. Kinda fun watching 'em go bonsai.
Whatcha growin', jayroach? Do you have a thread going?
yeah my plants just seem to be blowing up. Compared to my last few grows this is def my best. Im thinking I should top them. they are almost 5ft I think. some have preflowers some dont...so theyre gonna be huge.
I am growing a crapload of motarebel strains. Gbolt , lemon spice, krystall queen, berry blaster, Starkush, skunk#1, city slicker x uzbeck, and great white shark x molokai frost...there might be more lol I dont know lots of strains...
I may take some new pics tonight. I dont have a thread though. they are in my backyard also. Ive been kinda paranoid to show pics...
I've never even heard of a bunch of those strains but you can bet I'd be interested in following their progress. I'd def pull up a seat if you decided to document your grow.
nice variety there jayroach. I wish i could just grow a shitload of pot out back like NPK can though...I have three seedlings in a one gallon pot right now...haha
check out how well those blend in with the surroundings...the other ones are on the porch..no traning just lettin them go natural for now..might have to do some tying or topping though..
theres more plants all over the yard but these are the biggest and best to look at.
Wow Jayroach..nice plants dude! i find when i train my plants, they're more susceptible to mold due to the denser growth. I lost almost 1 lb. to mold earlier this year...I don't know about how much humidity you get around harvest time, but it's a serious problem for me.
yeah I notice when grown naturually they are nice and spread out branches. lots of airflow bewteen the nugs. I think I should top it though cuz its still got a lil growing so maybe I can get a couple more branches but I find it slows growth a lot outside. atleast it did when I topped a plant this season. but I just like to see how tall it will get lol
I think Im gonna clone em and start my indoor soon.
Here's what happens when I do bong hits and then go outside with my camera

So, like much of the country, California has been experiencing one hell of a heat wave. It just started breaking yesterday; the high was a much more comfortable 70 degrees today, down from the low hundreds before.
I watered heavily every day, so my plants came out (mostly) OK. However, yesterday I noticed that one of them--the third from the left on the bottom terrace--was looking kind of limp. She's looking even worse today. I don't know how that could have happened, because as I said, I gave 'em all plenty of water--but now I'm wondering if maybe the problem was that I overwatered. I'm floored, because she got the same attention as the other fifteen or so other plants in my garden...look at how much better her sisters all around her look, in the exact same environment with the same treatment. I don't get it! And it happened so suddenly, too. I'm worried because she's not getting better and she's one of my biggest plants. Anyone have any thoughts?
Luckily, the rest of my garden is doing well. A couple of weeks ago, I cut off all the lower branches and the do-nothing growth on the bottom thirds of the major branches, and put some of the ladies into mild bondage (more would be better, I just need some stakes). Also bottom dressed each one with a bunch of steer manure mixed with 5-10-10 ferts...they seem to be responding nicely.
I always post pics here from the same perspectives, so here's one of the widows from above:
Quite pleased with the looks of this girl....
And of this one:
This widow, which I allowed to grow vertically, is beginning to put on some weight:
Also growing some other items...dig these miniature cantaloupes!
And some tomatilloes:
Alas, not everyone made it through the heat wave:
Finally, for all my hard work, I harvested one of my Caramella clones, which started flowering at just eight inches or so:
Little bit early, but it's tasty and effective just the same.
Oh, and while I was out there I heard a clippity-clop noise from the street on the other side of the fence and saw this dude riding his horse up the street! I live in a fairly urban area...how random is that? I grabbed this shot real quick-like:
