Looks like a well planned landscape, its going to be quite a sight when fall comes. Pretty good headstart on some of those. You're already pushing 3 feet!
solrebl, good call on the corn. I was thinking about putting in a corn plant or two...or eight. It's a pretty fast grower, isn't it? I need something that'll catch up with the girls.
Thanks pipeline. I've been working hard on landscaping my garden this year. I've got a lot to do yet but it's coming together. And yeah, some of the WWs are pushing two feet already...good thing they're growing in wooden terraces, because I'm gonna need to tie those girls down. They're so big already that I'm a little concerned about "size control."
It's might be to late this season but the best plant I've found to use as camouflage is Jerusalem Artichokes. They grow to about 6 feet and there growing season is as long, if not longer, than the average dope plant and so are far superior to plants such as corn which are finished long before the dope plants.
They are grown from a tuber and have a great desplay of sunflowers late in the season and the tubers are very tasty.
NPK looking real nice. Those are gonna be some big plants by the end of the season...definatley need a higher fence I think.
You think about an outdoor SCROG for those? Seems like what you have them planted in would be good to put a screen on. It would keep em below fence level too. How far away are your nieghbors too?
very nice bro lol finally found your post tolk a lil bit they are lookin real good and hey i got an idea for you ok does a lilack bush grow good where you live( a tree like bush has purple or pink or yellow floweres in spring and alot of big green leafs for rest of year till winter come back every year like a tree) i got alot of my spote behind and around these bushes man they cover so good and you can plant all around something they are very good for incogneto and have a good smell all year round
your bro

Hey Twiz, awesome recommendation about the Jerusalem artichoke! Big, attractive plant; I love its flowers. That may be just the ticket. Thanks! I think they'd make great cammo even if they don't catch all the way up to my White Widders. I will definitely try growing a few of those.
Masshole, I hadn't considered an outdoor scrog. That might be fun to try with one of the plants, just for kicks. I'm torn between growing big she-monsters (well, five feet or less) and security factors. My next-door neighbor is really close--the back of her house is only about eight feet from my top-level terrace. I absolutely have to get that fence up this weekend; the one that's there is only a few feet tall. I wouldn't even think about attempting this if there weren't several trees along this fence, on my top terrace. They provide good screening--just not between the gaps.
Pope! Good to see ya here, bro. Excellent call on the scented plants. I have one tall star jasmine growing along my back fence--it has a heavy perfume that will help cover any suspicious odors that may waft out of my yard. I'm also gonna use a bunch of sweet alyssum, which is really fragrant.
yeah, bamboo would be a good way to hide it from the neighbors, but a word of warning: once you plant it, it's damn near impossible to get rid of it and also pretty f'n hard to control its spreading...as far as hiding it in plain site, id say what most ppl on here including u have said, dont have alot of ppl over this spring/summer
Yeah Tokin--I can only allow a few trusted friends in the yard now. If I feel like having a full-on barbecue it'll have to happen in a public park. Still gonna camoflage the girls as best I can though, cuz you just never know.
Someone suggested a temperary cover for when u do have folk round,Somit simple you can hang/put up and take down again...
The only down side it would draw attention(i know i am the type to wonder(and in end look to see))What is behind *Grins*
I have a small garden really, hedges all round, but one side is not hedged(And its is the veiw in from the road)*Frowns*
I was toying with the idea of trying to hide them behind tomotoe plants(U can train the tom plants to grow quite hi)
I was also toying with the idea(BIt extreme i know(LOl but i know i aint the first to think of extreme things for a grow)))
But i was planning to string some Painted(Red)Ping pong balls together(with cotton)(Almost like Xmas decorations)
And hang them on my plants(With the real tom plants in front)
Was even thinking i could paint some diff shades of red(Even yellowy/green)
I think this would of been effective from say a 5 yard range,ANything closer could be a prob tho
In the end tho,I have just decided to plant half a dozen plants in some woods near my house(Well a mile away)(I have indoor grows(so dont want to be greedy at home))
Going back to the covering your grow up....
I saw someone else say try a green house
How about this(Can leave it there or move it around)
Make your own greenhouse, instead of glass tho, have to covered with a Polyathen type coverering(Could have the sides coloured up to a few feet))
Could make it from plumbers 2 inch white plastic pipes and the Elbow and other joints
sounds good bro
im glade you decided to have the bar bqs at the park less attraction and chance of being seenand hey less you have to clean up your yard lol
lookin good

Ha! See, that would be me, too. If I were visiting a friend who had a garden, I would totally be checking it out. Gardeners look at gardens.
I like the greenhouse suggestion but don't really have room for it; since I'm on a hill the yard is a somewhat vertical space. Hence the terraces. I've already got a dozen plants in the ground anyway; I chose their locations carefully and am just going to mix in other distractions--including tomatoes, and I don't even like 'em! It's OK, I'll just give 'em away.
Actually, I got a few large foxgloves on sale at Target yesterday for $3.50 each. They're big, flowery, leafy plants and should help disguise the ladies quite nicely.
HERES AN IDEA FOR YOU, USING WIRE MESH MAKE A SCREEN OF GREEN SORT OF SETUP AND TRAIN YOUR PLANTS HORIZONTALLY, IT IS TIME CONSUMING BUT I HAVE USED THIS TECHNIQUE WITH VERY GOOD SUCESS, KEEP TRAINING THEM RIGHT UP UNTIL BUDSET AND YOUR PLANTS SHOULD FINISH UP NO MORE THAN A FOOT ABOVE THE MESH SCREEN, IF YOUR MESH SCREEN IS 1 FOOT ABOVE YOUR SOIL THE PLANT WILL END UP APPROX 2 FEET HIGH BUT WILL BECOME A LARGE CARPET OF BUD YIELDING SEVERAL POUNDS.AS FOR THE SMELL HAVING JASMINE, LAVENDER OR BOTH PLANTED NEARBY OR EVEN AMONGST YOUR PLANTS DOES HELP WITH ODOR, AS DOES NOT BRUSHING AGAINST THEM AS THIS REALY MAKES THEM REEK BAD, GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR GROW NPK. I ALSO FEED MY GIRLS HALF STRENGTH BUDDING FERT RIGHT THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES, THIS SEEMS TO PROMOTE SHORT INTERNODE STRUCTURE AS WELL AS EARLY FLOWERING RESULTING IN INCREASED YIELD.
Tuneful is on tha right track . Go to a craft store and wire some synthetic(silk)flowers to your plants.
I think it would work great considering how colorful your garden is .
Hey y'all, haven't been visiting these parts lately, what with the site going down for so long (glad to see it back), and, of course, it's gardening season! I made good use of the time by finally putting a more effective barrier between my house and my neighbors. I put up a simple frame and affixed simple reed screening to it with zip ties. My yard is much more private now--I feel 100 percent better about it. Here 'tis:
And here's the garden it's protecting, as of today:
I have fifteen ladies in the ground, and if you squint real hard, you can even find the screening plants, too. (Yeah, so much for that.) I think it'll be a relatively quiet summer here in terms of entertaining.
I'm psyched, though. Most of the plants (thirteen White Widow, two Big Bud) are doing great. I tried to train 'em sideways, but as you can see, they still want to climb upward. I see additional restraints in my future.
A few of the plants are growing unusual purple-red buds. I'll try to get a better shot tomorrow; still figuring out the new camera the girlfriend gave me.
Plant some lupine and ameranth in a row in front of the weed. This will definatly break up there presence. Tying down is a good method. Remember to throw some good commercial grade fertilizer thru out the natural landscape so that it is nice a green come fall. Don't need your plants sticking out like a sore thumb.
I can only hope the weather in the rest of the country resembles what we've been getting in the Bay Area these past several days: sunny, clear, and in the upper sixties. A little windier than I'd like, yeah, but my garden hasn't been complaining. Here's a composite of what it looked like as of this morning:
The ladies ranged from a foot to maybe eighteen inches when I started putting 'em in the ground on May 1; now the seven or eight biggest would be hitting about the three-foot mark if I weren't training 'em horizontally (as horizontally as possible, anyway). Some of the stalks started out kind of spindly from stretching as seedlings, but not now: many are easily as thick as my thumb.
Recently pulled together a couple of other areas, too:
Great time of year to be outside! Hope y'all are wearing your sunscreen.
looking awesome npk. i cant wait to see them in another two months when they start flowering. your displaying back yard buddage at its finest. good luck.
