Swirskii eat the juvenile stages of cucumeris. You've got yourself a bit of a Cossack situation going on.

A. persimilis?

Flower looks on point. Fine and dandy like cotton candy if I were a Flanders.

55ppm?

What do you live on, limestone? ;)

*cough*20ppm*cough*

Although I'm not entirely convinced the Guardian is giving accurate readings that low.

Damn Mikell! 20 ppms is super low outta the tap. Reaching numbers like my ro. But yeah the 55 was pretty much totally cal. I don't have readings that low anymore. Our place now has some of the most iron rich water I have ever seen, stains everything.

lol that would present a problem for the cucumeris mikell.

the cucumeris were deployed a couple months before the swirskii.

it's been a few months since we let the swirskii loose.

i'm not sure they've had much overlap. easy pickings for the swirskii if there were any cucumeris left at that point.

ooo good catch with the persimilis! i changed the genus name above.

Damn I want me some of this <100 ppm tap water. Ours is well and it's ~110. I've tried RO for a few months and I dont think it did too much.

might as well post some pics from my IG.

i made an emergency sublingual last week. i was visiting family and the gummies i had saved for the return trip molded!

i washed out a (very nice) amber vial from some hippy dippy eye drops, filled it with extra virgin olive oil, and sat it in a little ramekin of boiling water. using my dab tool i stirred in 1/2 a gram of dieselrella rosin and 1/2 a gram of harlesin CBD rosin.

i haven't tested my rosin yet, but from other's lab results, i'm assuming there is a ton of thc-a and cbd-a in there. it is super potent! borderline psychedelic.

Heady i couldnt find your report on the rosin drops. Do you mind saying how is it and how much do you have to take to get a good one on?

Ive been looking at nails too, just starting to play with a hmk. Im not getting much yet from my bud tho

That rosin drop oil would be great for travel

oh wow time flies this time of year huh?

i am not a big fan of the "holiday season" but i managed to navigate the past few weeks remarkably well this year.

i think it was mostly because i was binge watching walking dead the whole time. as much as the holidays horrify me, none of the season's stresses can compare to trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. really kept things in perspective for me.

today is the final deployment of the p. persimilis, plus i added a round of a. cucumeris in tandem this week to preempt any thrip action. they're pretty affordable so better safe than sorry.

hey mikell my biobest rep said they regularly release swirskii and cucumeris together, and they only become antagonistic when all other food sources have been exhausted.

been squishing all the trim recently. the bottle jack i bought from napa auto is performing just as well as the day i took it out of the box, so i recommend to anyone going the shop press route to avoid harbor freight bottle jacks and consider napa auto (they're everywhere, plus the jack is the same price as harbor frieght!).

the garden has been looking really good, but i'm slacking on photos, so here's another lazy update from my IG!

had to press the skunk1 x oger99 no. 2 (callin it skunk2 or SK2 from now on for convenience) trim a bit hotter than my normal 220*. i've been messing around with ~240*. i wish santa had brought me some PID controlled platens.

the rosin olive oil sublingual is strong as hell! i was surprised because im assuming it's nearly all still thca and cbda---not decarboxylated at all!

i put one squirt in my cheek and that seems to be a good dose. the non-decarbed effect is much different than what i'm used to, it's kinda psychadelic. everything is sparkly and intense for a while.

i imagine if it was all decarbed thc one squeeze at this strength would be DEVISTATING. i'd guess i'd only need a drop or two if that were the case.

i've finally wrapped my head around how the body metabolizes cannabinoids.

anything that passes through the liver will be transformed to 11-hydroxy-thc which has a slower onset (average 2 hours) and a longer duration (average 4 hours). this accounts for the huge variation in people's experiences with edibles. based on the speed of your metabolism, your onset and duration could be very different from the average. also certain bodies cannot efficiently process 11-hydroxy-thc (like some bodies can't properly process protein or calcium or whatever), so those bodies are the people that don't enjoy edibles or find them ineffective.

decarboxylation removes the carboxyl group from the thc-a molecule, transforming it to delta-9 thc. this happens immediately in a combustion situation like smoking a bowl or a joint.

the reason for decarbing edibles is not becasue eating delta-9 thc gets you high like smoking. if you eat delta-9 thc it still passes through the liver and is transformed to 11-hydroxy-thc before hitting the bloodstream.

the reason for decarbing edibles is because the body cannot efficiently metabolize thc-a. if you eat raw cannabis most of the thc-a will pass through your system before your body can process it into a useable form. your metabolism CAN process delta-9, however, so decarbing your edibles makes them far more bio-available.

SO, the beauty of a sublingual is that it skips the metabolism and goes straight into your bloodstream. there's not many ways to get the acid forms of cannabinoids into your system and sublingual application (or suppositories for that matter) on mucus membranes is the most accessible approach.

if you want to feel the delta-9 effect like you feel when you puff on some flowers, simply use decarbed hash in an appropriate carrier oil like coconut, mct, olive oil, etc and take it as a sublingual.

the onset is almost immediate---less than 10 minutes---and it lasts about 2 hours, just like smoking.

VERY interesting! I tried a version of your sublingual and wondered as I was making it whether Squooshing the bubble hash and then melting it into olive oil in a double boiler would be enough heat and time to decarboxylate the THC.

I did find the sublingual very effective while I was working through a bad cold that made smoking unpleasant and almost impossible.

What about decarboxylating further by increasing the amount of time in the double boiler when melting the rosin into the oil? Is 212 degrees too cool? Does decarboxylation work better before the introduction of the lipid of choice?

Thanks, Heady.

does decarboxylation work better before the introduction of the lipid of choice?

that's a good question sisk, one i've often wondered myself.

i discovered the wonders of decarbing after following badkittysmiles' canna caps tutorial. she starts with bubble hash, which i had a LOT of at the time, and decarbs it before adding it to the coconut oil.

we've all seen the decarb graph shared by jump 117:

decarboxylation-graph-1-11.jpg

i'm less inclined to roast my rosin, and i've seen grey wolf mention a decarb method that works after you've dissolved the cannabinoids into a carrier oil. i haven't tried it yet and the article on skunk farm is missing a photo of one of the steps, but he describes it pretty well. i think i'll try it with my next batch of edibles.

from skunkpharm:

...we can never know for sure exactly what the starting state of decarboxylation is, so the times at temperature shown on the graphs are an average.

We can’t expect dry material placed in an oven at any given temperature to be that uniform temperature throughout instantly upon placing it in a heated oven, nor know for sure the state of decarboxylation by simple observation.

Decarboxylating plant material, also alters the taste (roasted/toasted), which some find less agreeable, and of course decarboxylating also evaporates away the smaller Monoterpenes and Sequiterpenes alcohols, phenols, ketones, aldehydes, ethers, and esters.

The good news is that it is dirt simple to monitor the state of cannabis oil decarboxylation placed in a 121C/250F hot oil bath, because you can watch the CO2 bubble production.

Just like the curves suggest, CO2 bubble production will proceed at its own observable rate. By keeping the puddle of oil lightly stirred on the bottom and in the corners of the pot (I use a bamboo skewer), so as to keep the bubbles broken free and floating to the top, you can tell exactly when the bubble formation suddenly tapers off at the top of the curve.

That is the point that we take it out of the oil for maximum head effect, and we leave it in until all bubbling stops, if we want a more sedative night time med.

...

Oi, yeah that's how I've read it. Seems rather inevitable if one releases both under proper environmental.

I feel if Biobest had any compassion for their cucumeris offspring they would bring the cost of Nutrimite more inline with the price of the ingredients ;)

I've got a bag of ginger orphans with your name on it when ever you want to trade for some of that flower. SSSDH looks bloody prime.

I can poke some air holes if it'll be awhile.

I've been rocking hash capsules. Take the 120 micron hash screen collection and mix with coconut oil + soy lecithin. 10 gram hash usually gets me 40-50 caps, depending on how strong hash is.
First batch I made was 30 caps from 10g and was super strong. Knock you out. Like to take one in morning and early evening for nice baseline.
Glycerin tincture treats me well too.

Sweet post on metabolization heady. Your posts are to the point and super informative..

Have you messed with any glycerine e-liquids (hatch's post reminded me)? Skimming thru some threads it still doesn't seem that there is a great method of suspending/dissolving without lab equipment. prefilled cartridges (meh) and some of the preloaded syringes have been popping up around me. The stuff that came in the syringe for was very effective and great for on the go.

mikell---

hehe i figured you'd respond along those lines. what's in the nutramite again? cattail pollen? maybe it's an extremely labor intensive harvesting process...

i'm sad to say i cannot provide a forever home for your orphans at this time. please do poke holes in the bag asap and perhaps let them out to play in the sun and so they may defecate away from their sleeping area.

hatch---

hell yes those canna caps changed my life no exaggeration they allowed me to hold a steady job and be a functioning adult.

i do have a funny/notsofunny story about improper dosing with fresh batches. it's just like what you are imagining, only i didn't get fired, which was amazing to me.

i bought glycerine to make a tincture but then i started reading up on it and i got discouraged. do you do the long format cold extraction or the heated one? do you decarb first? have you ever made it with hash?

roost---

trimming and squishing and family time with a few hours of sleep in between. aka living the dream! :eggnog:

trich---

i have but i have not yet found an enjoyable solution.

i bought a product called ej mix that is a blend of different weights of PEG and is designed to liquify canna concentrates.

the stuff does a great job of dissolving the concentrates. apparently canna oils don't dissolve well in VG or PG blends like most ecig juice is made with, so this does improve on that.

i just thought it tasted horrible. i have insanely tasty rosin i'm starting with and the ej mix taste seriously altered the flavor of my concentrate.

i don't "vape ejuice" so i'm not accustomed to any of those products, so there's a good chance that if you do vape ejuice that you may not find the ej mix's flavor off-putting. i can't offer that perspective.

if you watch hash church tony verzuera has been mentioning that his terp juice can alter concentrate into a vapeable liquid suitable for tanks and whatnot. i'm dying to order a vial but the price is outrageous and i'm too broke and too embarrassed to spring for it right now.

maybe next week hehehehehe:biggrin:

i've never used one of those syringes but from what i've gathered they're usually thc distillate from butane or co2 extraction right?

i've read that fully decarboxylating canna oil will loosen its viscosity.

i don't have access to any lab-grade solvent extracts, so i stick with the solventless products i make myself. maybe i'll have to sacrifice a little slab of rosin to some decarb experiments.

either way, decarbing or adding terpenes, i'm not gonna get a true representation of the flavor of the rosin. doesn't mean i'm not gonna try tho!

Decarbed flowers. 90 day. Turned or rolled daily. It is def. not a primary source but is a good addition when you are going for that nice layered functioning effect.

Hey Heady just wanted to stop by and say Aloha!
I've learned a lot from you through your hundreds of posts about countless different topics.
It's cool to have seen (read) you and your grows grow haha.
The room you have now is sick! Some gorgeous product

I'm about to get a 10gal ROLS smartie going powered by blumats.

I know you use two emitters per pot, but are they the regulars or the maxis?

I plan on replicating the two basin water setup with a drain and a pump to maintain a steady water level. You made a diagram for that as well as one for a feed line vent blumat setup. Made my life sooooo easy!!
Each time I imagine the system running, I hear splashing from the water draining from the top to the bottom though.

Can you hear the water falling down? Is it loud?

The thing will be 2 feet away from the foot of the bed, I'm concerned for my wifey.

One more thing, what's your personal recipe for kelp tea?
I have a couple of mama's that seem hungry, but I'm not sure what to give em.

Thank you!
Enjoy the day
