My younger son's first day of school yesterday. He's assigned as a TA in a class where he excelled. First day of class, first case of COVID popped on the 1st day. "Numerous other teens affected."
School district Board has a couple of loud crusaders who opposed mandatory masks, leaving it to "personal/family choice". You know, like seat belts and stuff. <NOT>. Except the mask wearer, when discussing most of the more common masks, is protecting those around them, not themselves. So the school board's decision last June is tantamount to stating, if I'm on MY property, up-stream from your well on the aquifer, and I choose to dump toxins in the H2O and ground, well... That's my choice.
Just how braindead does a motherfucker need to be to not see that this is what they're essentially saying and doing?
They've already been warned that their status as a governmental body and their authority in voting will not protect them from a finding of 'negligence.' They're already broke, and too ignorant to see the writing on the wall.
What's also sad is that many of those who want them to revisit their earlier premature decision re. social distancing and masks, tend to worship public school systems, and are therefore hesitant to jump in with both feet, where legal action and pit-bulls with law degrees are concerned.
Meanwhile, local hospitals have run out of room for transfers to ICU from outlying areas (the bush), and, you guessed it, the vast majority of cases of infection, hospitalizations, and deaths here now are... the unvaccinated.. Who now own responsibility for helping to push an under-staffed hospital or several under-staffed hospitals into crisis mode, with less staffing than they need, more patients than they can take, and COVID patients now being transferred to floors they'd ordinarily not be present on, thus potentially endangering other patients.
So, um, thanks again for the conspiracy theory ignorance.. It leaves victims in its wake that the intellectually-challenged, conspiracy-consumed ingrates haven't even met, let alone done a COVID-safe fist bump with yet.
