GROW TENTS !!!!!!!!!

B

Boxy Brown

its just a reflective material with a mesh cloth backing for strength, and the white lining reflects 96% of light while mylar reflects 98% if completely flat with no creases or ripples in it that reduce its efficiency (which is why its not a good idea to use in a grow tent).

I use it in my tent and find that it looks brighter in there - not sure to the figures or anything, just personal experience (could just be I'm imagining it lol).

I find that the tents on their own aren't 100% light proof and that there are some pinholes in the sides - adding mylar with white backing or just thick mylar has made my tent 100% lightproof. Don't know if the same would apply with the Duraflect (Durex? ;)) tent lol.

plants don't see light the way humans do so just because it looks brighter doesn't mean the plants are getting more light, also iv tested my tent out with my window open at noon along with my 100w bedroom light and found it to be 100% light proof.

Aye, I know - each tent is not identical though, lucky you got a 100% one :)

Weed life - If I knew how to make one mate I would :D and it's 2$ to the pound. Your tent is awesome :)

I had a box very similar to yours Weed_life but I didn't like that it stuck out like a sore thumb in my bedroom or the fact that I couldn't move it with out lots of work so I tore it down and bought a homebox, the lumbar is now waiting to be used in my shed to make some shelves.

i know, i saw a guy pimping panda/1x2 grow boxes on OG, and used them for 2 years off/on, but i like the sturdiness and flexibility of metal tubes.

or drywall, really. but there ya go...

now i'm on a hydrohut 2'x'4' with 600w+/-

Hey can you show a picture of your intake and how you made it light proof? I feel like this is the part that I will have the hardest time with.

Also your door, is it made from velcro to keep it shut?

I recently got the hydro hut deluxe. I just put it together. There were a few problems... They provided screws that didn't fit the blower brackets and the a couple zippers are messed up. Now i have to learn how to fix a zipper or drive a few hours back to the store i got it.
Overall i like it but the time i am using fixing and going to the hardware store i could have built one out of panda and 2x4's for alot less. But people already know this. Oh yeah there were a few spots in the seams that werent finished or ripped.
If anyone has advise on fixing zippers i am all ears... It needs to be connected to the other half of the zipper but there is a little stopper....I bet that makes no sense lol

Yeah, same thing happened to me. The zipper slid right off, right? The trick is to get them to join back up by inserting one side a little off of the other. Remember the zipper holds by interlocking. I hope that is it for you, let me know!

time to revive this thread a little bit... after trying to read 47 pages, i will most likely go with the hydrohut mini using a 400w hps. just to get things crystal clear, the hydrohut is 100% light proof? i noticed that the homebox has the flap that you can tuck after you zip it up in order to keep stray light from coming in. what mods do you need to make in order to make it 100% lightproof? any help is greatly appreciated... koopa

i was just about to buy the hydrohut or the homebox and did some measuring in my prospective room and those tents are too big. I have about 74-76 inches to fit a tent in my room. are any of the grow tents at that height or shorter. i am pretty sure that the budbox is, but i just wanted to confirm it here before i bought three of them? thanks for the help and the inspiration guys. peace

im waiting to setup an original hydrohut. Kinda hoping its not even an high taller than 7' or its going to be too big. Was kinda worried when the guy at the shop insisted that the original has 4 inch ducts, when everywhere else i look the original has 6in ducts. Not gonna be a happy camper if i setup the entire thing just to find out the ducts are all the wrong damn size.

I just got a homebox XS. It is 2x2x4. It easily holds a 250 watt fixture, carbon scrubber, and vortex inline fan, despite the corners being thick plastic. People have been bagging on them compared to Hydro hut, but for the smaller size and price, I can't complain.

I see a lot of you say you close up the flaps on the bottom of the tents and what not so that they are light tight. If this is done though, where does fresh intake air come from into the tent? Do you just have no intake and have a fan sucking air, how would that work?

Or would it just be better to build a cab that is lightproof and has lightproof air intake vents with some sort of light trap than get one of these tents, as I know air circulation and intake/outake of fresh air is vital to plant health........

guys im trying to pull close to a lb each harvest, im thinking the 4x4 hut with 1000watt would be good?

right now i have a 400watt digital aircooled, would it be good to get another 600watt air cooled, and just run a 400 and 600 in the 4x4 hut with a stanley blower.

will this give me close to my goals?
