Yes, these are heavily seeded with Red Snake pollen. So it's a backcross.... Punto Rojo x (O'79 x Punto Rojo)..... I reckon they are at least a month along so a few weeks left to go. Then I can move my Zacateca Tributes and Bodhi Zipolite Oaxacans into the flower room.
Love those vintage photos of the various Hawaiians. They definitely look very Colombian or Mexican, but that Cambodian also has a certain family look as well. My friends in HA currently are only growing indica hybrids for all the usual reasons, but that sadly seems to be the story most places. Thanks for keeping the good old fashioned sativa flame alive!
Very cool!
Looking forward to seeing all your grows! I look at those old HA pics and man I would take anyone of those over the modern stuff available today.
It really is a shame there is not more heirloom HA being grown today.
I actually almost lost my Oaxacan Gold strain years ago when I started getting rose colored glasses over the strains from Holland and Vancouver,
With all the new strains my Oax took back burner for about 5 years or so? Dissolutioned buy all the hype strains that looked great but were not stable and basically would totally fall apart after just three generations or less. I went back to sow some of my Oax seed I had in storage. But they did not germinate because of age, Well hell! I panicked I threw every Oax seed I had into soil and pampered them right back into existence. And I said never do that again. From there I just started doing my own breeding work strictly for love of the plants, and being able to create stable and unique material just for the love of it.I guess people just don't realized what they have until it is threatened.
It was ACE that saw my breeding work and contacted me. To me it was an honor.
So I just do the breeding work I gift the seeds to a dear friend and he does all the rest. Again the reward I get is to see my, what I consider my art work displayed, and seeing people happy.
