No, planning to flower them this spring. My Zipolite Oaxacan are showing one boy and one girl, I'm pretty sure. So I might hit the ZTs with Zip pollen....for outdoor I want to run Purple Satellite again, and Freakshow. Maybe something else too. :)

Very good!
Please post your Zip Oax
Last season I ran a few Zacatecas Tribute, and I am sure you remember the insane amount of rain we got though they did get hit with Septoria wilt pretty bad admittedly the pull from the tops was pretty outstanding in weight and quality and I pulled the in Sept 21 because there was still lots of rain coming.

Here are the two Zipolites. Female is the rangier of the two, but very sativa structure judging by the lower branches....and then this crazy ass thing, Freakshow. I would love get this type of leaf shape bred into the Mexican lines. No idea how it smokes by itself yet, but those leaves are crazy looking.

I wanted to say thanks and excited to grow these outdoors this season. Thanks to ACE and Real Gorilla for the distribution arm of this transaction.

Hope you got paid somewhere in there Vermontman.

Had a question about outdoors planting date here in the midwest. I'm at 52 deg north, about 2 hrs northwest of Chicago proper. I will start and sex indoors but normally transplant outdoors on June 1st. Is that enough time for a good veg or should I be planning on a May 15th date to put them in the ground?

Hey Tex ! looks like you are well on your way! All your youngens are looking terrific!
That leaf structure is certainly very interesting. I have seen that marigold leaf structure on plants grown in Cali, these were six ft tall and still maintained that leaf though I believe would be pretty rare, be really interesting to see what come from that. Any sex on it yet?

Hello hamstring!
I am pleased they got to you safely.
Honestly I just love seeing people able to grow great sativa in the North, that is my reward.
I would say veg them out as long s you can under lights and get them as big as possible then pop them out end of May. May can be rather chilly and slow growth. Indoors under lights they can put on so much more growth to bulk up for the summer. especially because Purple Satellite comes on so fast the more early bulk the better.
Oh and please keep us posted!
Hope that helps!

I grew a couple of purple satellites at 45 North last year. They were beautiful plants with wonderful vigor.

I did not do a very good job of keeping the butterflies away and the caterpillars loved the purple satellite.

Hi Squatty!
Looks like you did a pretty great job to me! And as Tex pointed out Purple Satellite does not have the fattest leaves but your environment
maybe enhanced the thinner leaves. Did all your Satellite throw thin leaves? I find when you get a more sunny summer or less overcast, and or grown where they get great light exposure the leaves are finer, and also finish a bit sooner.

VM, so I would have thought leaf width is genetically fixed so that each seed only grows as it is programmed. But you think the plant can adapt to conditions and alter it's growth, at least to some extent?

Largely but not entirely, A plant grown under higher light conditions can display slightly thinner leaves and certainly flower up to two weeks earlier r more than the same plant grown under duller conditions, or under less hours under direct sun light in my experience. After generations this can be exaggerated even more.

I notice environmental effects, especially lighting, on leaf size/shape with my pepper plants that tracks this pretty much exactly, and also noticed it with some of my plants last season that were grown under a shade canopy vs same clones indoors under 630w CMH.

Orient Express was wonderful every time I grew it. Someday I have to do another. Might be a good microcab candidate. :)

Stout, robust, high yielding, aromas of musk, mint and mothballs. Really yummy smoke that is different from common hybrids. That and Nep Jam made me an Ace fan right off the bat. :D

To answer your question vermontman, the leaves got thinner as the plants progressed. The males were not around for too long so they had wider leaves.

We had insane heat at the end of June when Portland saw the highest temperature ever recorded here. I did not believe the predictions but it got up to 118 degrees and stayed above 100 for a few days. That was horrible. I hid my plants in the shade best as I could and the purple satellite did fine.

This picture was taken one week after the heat wave and the plant looks great.

They turned purple in October and I cut them down October 26.
