Straight out the cow fat free...right. There is no such thing as fat free "raw" milk. milk provides very little Ca...it is mostly water. I want the fat.

Right. I meant to say "grass fed" milk, which is also "raw" or "whole" milk, with the fat/cream on top , which could be skimmed off, but there would be no point in buying it for this purpose, as skim milk works for the purpose stated. However, you could use raw milk with the cream/fat skimmed off the top. Just don't spray fat on plants as it gets rancid.
You want the fat for your health, but you don't want it on your plants. Sorry for the misinformation.

Thanks JW and D.F

Thanks JW and D.F

that's the problem, they aren't needing the cal. just the mag. Epsom salt is a cure for sure.

Well this is my first time ever running the D. So I am not familiar with her at all. She seems to be really happy besides the variegation. Her leaves are always praying towards the light so I figured she was just like that. I do have Epsom salt so ill add it for the next few waterings. The good thing about the D is it should sort itself out pretty quickly because she drinks like a son of a bitch.

Well thanks again D.F and J.W for the info I am sure u guys are more familiar with her than I am. Good thing is she is only at day 30 so should be able to fix her quickly and plenty of time left for rebound. But now I know she is a mag whore.

We just have to disagree on this one. I don't use milk but I spray a little bit of fat on my plants every day in the form of fish (sea shield). Take a look at the testimonials on Pacific Gro's site...the videos. Those crook neck squash leaves don't appear to be suffering at all if you ask me. Beautiful color and things get that waxy sheen that tells you the plant is full of energy.

And I agree CalMag is a joke. Theoretically an additive but containing antagonistic elements. Unless you happen to need both they are going to work against each other.

What do you use for cal or mag? Is there a better solution/ supplement? I grow in coco so it almost a must to use calmag but I should use more Epsom salt and less calmag.

I am organic so I don't use any of that stuff. But if I needed to I would use Calcium Nitrate for a Ca problem. And Epsom salt a Mg problem.

Or, in coco which has plenty of K naturally, I would merely set up my formula to have a 3:1 Ca:K ratio instead of the usual bottle nute ratios of 2:1.

It is all that K that blocks the uptake of Ca and Mg in the first place. It is always better to address the root cause of a problem vs chasing the symptoms

actually "RAW" milk is unpasteurized, it is different than "organic/free range/ grass fed etc" which are pasteurized. it's illegal in the US for anyone to sell unpasteurized milk(even camel milk) so chances are unless you've got livestock of your own, raw milk is outta the question. you're 100% on that the fat in milk is what makes it go rancid(whole milk having the highest fat content...cream has already been separated. next is reduced fat, low fat, non-fat/skim)...I can't spray milk on my nugs, I'd rather throw away nugs with pm than smoke a nug that had pm and was then sprayed with milk, but that's just me...can't wash off a nug like you can a squash.

I barely use cal/mg unless it's needed. Like I said my 1 part rock nutrients fusion grow and my tap water has enough cal/mg in it to supply plants needs. I guess chem D is just a mg needy plant.

when i ran house and garden i had to use cal mag but now that i use tap water and Mills i dont need to use anything other than the single additive that corresponds with where in the cycle i am. :)
