I use 3 630’s and a 1 315 in flower room
in a 4 x10
What would that be? If someone would enlighten please, I’d appreciate it

How much heat do you get?

I'm in a 5x5 tent. it's an awkward size: too big to get that 40-50W/sqf with a single 630 but too small to use multiple lights. I get heat build up (low to upper 80's at the canopy) using just a single 630 DE even with a fan giving active outflow.

I'm looking for a good enclosed fixture that I can use the CMH 630 in, ideally low freq square wave. Then I can vent the heat out more efficiently. I'll lose some light from refraction though

Not dissing cmh at all. They are damn close to the hype. But I got pro veteran grower pals that use em and they put out heat just like any other HID. It might seem less because they are way less unit per unit. The 315's anyways. Obviously not quite the point source of heat as say a thousand or sixer hps. But the radiant heat is still the same. Equivalent wattage. A watt of heat is still a watt of heat. Same with t5's. An 8 bulber is about the same as a 400 watt HID. Just not a concentrated point source but linear. Spread out. Cmh fixtures are bad ass though. My friends grow they crush it in veg. And get outdoor like growth in buds but still that indoor HID trichome packed quality. Obviously is strain, grower skill, room environment dependent...but if you can pull 12 to 16 zips of dried cured top shelf flowers per 315 fixture..they are the choice. No question.

They put off a fair amount, nothing like hps. But they get hot. I have a window ac that cuts on when it gets to 79. I keep it it abt 75. My energy bill is less than when I was married! Lol so they don’t use much. I have 2 315’s I use with a t5 to veg with. An I haven’t bought my tent yet. Going to run all that in a gorilla grow 4x9. And a 5x5 for moms soon

I'm pretty sure what they mean is u don't need as much wattage to get the same results as HPS. If using less wattage the temps are gonna be cooler. I def notice my room is not as hot.

CMH is a HID bulb. The ARC tube is hot. These bulbs will burn ur ass bad. Using them will require cooling just like HPS. If ur using 4000w of CMH or 4000w of HPS the heat is gonna be the same.

If people are comparing a 315w cmh to 1kw hps it will be very disappointing.

I would like to get 8 x 630's. One in between every Gavita 6/750 I got. And let it rock out.
Waiting for a decent 630 de that won't explode lol. The thought of having to replace two 315 bulbs per fixture at $80-90 buck a piece is a no go for me at this point.

Iam not full fledged fanboy on them cmh de's quite yet. Jurys still out fer me. I would stick with Philips 315 greens. Whether in a single fixture or the double 630's. Tbh...Iam not AT ALL hip on the real deal data on any of it.

i made an observation

i made an observation

interesting on the glue plants ... the ones with fewer top leads have slightly thicker flower development compared to the ones with more leads on them ...this tells me that the plant wants to only give so much ..no matter how U divide her up while growing

another thing i noticed is that when i backed off the feed they fade quick ... so you need to keep her well fed at all times >>> she's a responsive strain

Ive noticed that with alot of strains. Especially when I top in veg for bigger yields. One way I combat this and truly get bigger weight as opposed to the same weight just spread out over smaller buds from multiple tops I made is to veg longer. I try and get super healthy tops with big fat nodes and leaves that look like the one or two I topped. Veg longer was the key. Years ago I would throw them in the flower rooms or flip soon after the topping and yep. Damn near same weight just spread out. Once I vegged em longer and got the tops looking real good (kelp sprays help bigtime in veg as well) I got more weight. Its a balancing act really. Razors edge.

Using CMH or MH bulbs requires a 2nd jacket for open fixture use. None of these DE bulbs are made with a 2nd jacket. Adding shields is a must for these bulbs. These can have catastrophic failures(explode) Due to there higher internal pressure vs HPS. If u using the shields as any should be or in an enclosed hood there's nothing to be concerned about .

315w t9 942 from Phillips has a 30k hr life span. Requires enclosed hood.

t12 942 has a 20k life span. For open hood use.

I'm hesitant to jump on the cmh bandwagon. I follow DJM and I know he was very displeased with his cmh runs.

That Rev micro avici 1150w LED is a different story... I may run 4 of those in another 10x10 room.

Must have done something wrong. I have never made a change in my grow unless I get improvements. I'm not anyone's fanboy. Its pretty easy to see the results. GPW and TCO is what makes people money. I did all the testing myself. As should everyone.

Its not the wattage, its the efficiency. LED's are the most efficient. There TCO is way to much right now. Adding heat is common with larger LED rooms.. I have seen people in small tents have to add heat with them.
