Golden Tiger

Man you guys crush it! Nice plants.

The golden tigers and some, not all, of her offspring do the flowering pause and renegize and restart new calyx production thing. I have only ever bred with a gen 1 male tho. Ive grown a small population from three generations of golden tiger and that is a uniform trait. I have found that by letting some individuals go past what you think may be "ripe" you can discover she wants to continue bud formation and starts up with a new burst of calyx and pistil.

From my experience, this adds dimensions to the effects. You get part of the bud that is new new new with a thc profile closer to like an unripe plant and buds with older more mature complete thc profile. Its a very profound broad spectrum experience in golden tiger. That for me was something i found really cool, you can add like a layer or edge to the effect by harvesting right after a new spurt of growth, or while she is paused before a spurt of growth, and totally change the consumption experience. That is so fucking cool and unique. It can change from plant individual to individual. There is a lot to look at for me still, many beans and crosses to comb through. I have my favorites, and GT is one. For people searching for sativa/nld/tropical cannabis i can recomend gt always with only one caveat: it can ve very strong cannabis in one effect or another. Thats a little of my experience.

think orfeas your girl looks like a nice hybrid type. Not wispy like some of the thai girls, good resin like malawi girls. Iunno, dubi might have a different opinion.

Great plants all around, thank you all for sharing. I really wnjoy reading peoples experience with her. Everytime i share this plant with people its a unique experience for consumption. For me thats true for growing. Hard to make her perfectly happy, but its worth the effort to try. Shes a cool girl.

Much love

NC
Well said friendo.... the pause then push again thing is what I have been noticing a lot too... it cost me weight a couple time harvesting too early. I like to cut right as newest growth withers and it's resins swell but are still clear... adds the "edge" you spoke of but not TOO nervous

Hey Ncali,
that's the best description of harvest window, for long running sativas, that I've been able to find and I've been researching it for quite a while now; exceptionally well put.
Nice job Yucon.....great to see you back on deck.
Anyway......what a difference a couple of weeks makes. Got to the girls two days ago and the bigger one l thought was a male was.
It had stacked really hard, to the point where some of the flowers had nearly opened; I'm so glad l got down there when I did. It hadn't grown that much taller but had grown wider.
I took some cuts and pulled the plant. It's root system was really well developed and they extended about a foot and a half radius from the stem and followed under the plant with dozens and dozens of pencil thin, parsnip like roots that were all roughly the same length; like a half globe shape. There was no main tap root and it took all my strength to wiggle and pull it out.
The laterals on this plant were really solid and didn't want to come away from the main stalk without a bit of effort. Very solid plant.
The big female was only just starting to show flower and she too had grown wider, not much taller, about seven feet now.
She's putting a lot of energy into the laterals, maybe because l caged her up last time l was down there.
The smallest one is beginning to grow and l think it's a female. It's still very small, about three feet but looks healthy.
The last GT has grown significantly wider but is still only about four feet tall. It's showing a pistal here and there but is still a week behind it's big sister at this stage.
It will be interesting to see how these plants develop into flower, especially given the explosive development of the male.
Cheers 40

At last she's showing more and more senility signs, yellowing leaves and browning withering sea anemone hair :)
The day before was the completion of ten weeks and I nipped off two lower twigs with clear/cloudy trichs...see what they smoke like in a coupla days...
The last pic is a kalamata red cross, a delight to behold...

Very nice job with Gt orfeas! How are the aromas of your gt? Is it 10/weeks after 12/12? My gt is pretty much at the same point. Slowly loosing green colours and pushing trichs, for me atleast 2-4 weeks before cut.

Hello,

Here is my little attempt with the Tiger.
Medium: 120 liter DWC, with 4 netpots, 4 distinct plants.
Nutrients: GH Flora Series 2 parts of Bloom to 1 part of micro + 1 part Canna mono Magnesium.
1x1 meter tent
Genetics:
Ace - Golden Tiger
Ace - Malawi
Philosopher - Black Bomb
Pyramid: Anesthesia

The most difficult part here is to find the correct EC for the four ladies. Everything was more or less great until about 10 days ago. At a nutrient exchange I overfert and my pH probe died. So mistakes happened.

Anyway, here is the Golden Tiger at 44 days of 12/12

Scrog budshots... 10 weeks cure. Smell has lost many of various "separate" complexities and melded into a predominantly lemon piney sweet herbal aroma... there are still notes of carrot tho they seem earthier and there's an element of equine/rubbery funk in the back on the small amount that went unfrozen.
It's pretty loud... after smoking the room is filled with old school sativa stank... the flavour is very resinous but also has strong sweet Mandarin notes and a nice tangy finish.

I usually find I stop smoking joints about 2/3 done for two reasons: it's so resinous that only carefully rolled joints with filters on them will burn well past halfway or two thirds.
And I'm so fried I don't notice it's gone out and only realize after I land from the first half joint lifting me up. Waaay up.

Effect is immediate and strong. Intense focused rushing feelings with vibrant visual and audio clarity. It's not scary but it is.... involved.. at least for a few minutes or so then you settle into hella fried smiling distracted by anything that's cool when your fried. It's not couch lock weed exactly because if you can get yer ass moving its fun to do and experience shit.. its just really easy to get so fried you feel helpless beyond appreciating stuff around you.
Munchies are definitely a thing. The Tigers swipe will probably give you a Tigers appetite.. Hamburgers or other prey had better be on the lookout. You will hunt them just for the thrill of BBQ sauce dripping from your teeth.

Here's pics.

Lol I often find if I share this herb people ask "what the fucks in that shit? I'm fried".
My wife has access to my stash... I've found her sitting in the basement staring at a wall a couple times.. her only words?
"I'm fried". She came upstairs to eat a few minutes later....
I also make a point of telling even seasoned smokers not to drive on GT... sometimes it just hits you with a power wave out of the blue and you feel... lost.. almost dreamlike kind of lost.
I had a hilarious experience walking my dog awhile back smoking WAY too much herbs thinking I would have a good handle on it..
Felt totally disoriented a few blocks from my house.. only knew I was right because I had walked the same way leaving as coming back! Was really funny next day when I remembered and realized just how high I had to have been.. was kinda funny when it happened too. Aside from turning a few circles in disbelief wondering wether I was coming or going and where the fuck to or from?

See Tiggers eyes? He knows.

It has more refined Mandarin and carrot flavour in a vape. Gbong (or buckets or Nortons.. whatever u call it) hits are nutty.. too much resinous smoke makes your lungs hurt a bit.. some hits are intense flavour so you drool and then the world thumps and buzzes and thrums from the hammer blow high. Regular bongs are smoother nice sweet flavour and get me super high. Pipes and Bubblers are good but overtoke and smoke thickens quick. Then it's another resin choke... this herb has such thick oily smoke when it starts burning hot that a nice even draw becomes pretty important to enjoying it sometimes. Lol at least for flavour.. thick tokes also get you pretty rocked in a hurry..

I'm looking forward to some sixth month cured in a nice snow filled bong..

Hey YukonKronic

I like your descriptions of Golden tiger. I have to concur, this must be up there with the strongest weed I’ve ever had. It was a couple of years ago now but I remember running into one of the parents of my sons school friend and feeling like I was 14 again trying to hide how messed up I was. Good times.

Love that mandarin carrot smell. I had a Malawi once that smelled just like that.

Oh boy, this is really upping the antes... at least as far as expectations go...any chance to see late flowering pics for comparison's sake? Which week was the harvest one and what were the trichs when taken down? Mine by the way just completed 11 weeks yesterday...

These are at 12 weeks they went a week past that to 13 weeks but got frozen before I took pics. Crystals were easy 15 or 20% amber with mostly cloudy and a very few clears. After cure I see more than half Amber I think but freezing likely influenced that. 12 weeks would have been okay... I honestly feel like I nailed it pretty close for my tastes though
