TML16..Well I guess technically they are mutants..haha you're a mutant grower..
I'm not ready to buy anything yet..but it will need to be done by winter.. :chin:

pontiac..I've been involved in electronics for the last 26 years and going..I use to run the tech dept at an electronics factory..I even have a circuit I designed in production..it was a small circuit..but I showed how old units could be easily be retro-fitted..and new circuit boards would barely change..the engineers couldn't debunk it..so they used it..all I got was an atta boy..I've lost some touch with component level electronics..your robot got me thinking right away..I started thinking a like a CD laser with prism and photo-diode to track that line if the line was reflective..other ideas as well..that sounds fun..

I've been token a sample of a friends yield..Reeferman Love Potion #1..pretty tasty stuff..lemony and smells like lemony pine sol..nice sativa high..
Didn't do pics last night..sorry...but a couple are nominated in July POTM..by guerilla1018..thanks man..

Anyway these two..I've been using a higher res copy of the first one as my wallpaper..
the second one looks like a big colorful......well lets just say circumcised..gotta be secure in your manhood to stare at it :biglaugh:

Wow! You'd look like Nikola Tesla if we were to be compared. I only have about 2 years experience and thats just through books. Hmm for my robot, i'm thinking a phototransistor and infrared LED pair for the eyes and a simple TTL voltage comparator for the brains. I dont expect much from this but hopefully it'll work. I'll post some pics when i'm done.

I'm also planning on building electronic projects that can help out ICmag, such as cycle timers, ozone generators etc. Hmm maybe in the future i can pm you some circuit diagrams and you can revise it?

Damn bro the plants are looking killer dank right now, how much time b4 harvest??

Yeah, packn is one of our resident electrical technology gurus - a very modest one! Pontiac - you aren't too shabby either by the projects you're tackling! :respect: to you both!

Packn, there are a few folks here who have been running digi ballasts for a bit, From what I've read the higher output is because they're running much higher frequency than 60 hz? Anyway, I'm thinking of getting one this fall, maybe we can do a joint test project... :chin:

Excuse me - gotta wipe my drool off your floor :yoinks: :yummy:

Yea digi ballasts runs the bulb at 20000 hertz, instead of the 50-60 hertz a magnetic ballast puts out. The result its cooler operation, brighter output and a longer lasting bulb. I'm getting a 600w digiballast for my next grow.

I really dont see why a digiballast wouldnt last for a lifetime. I mean if the circuitry is properly heatsinked and protected from powersurges, then i just dont see why a digi ballast would ever fail.

Swerve..Thanks man..my overall yield won't be too good but I'm gonna have some new smoke..and the AD's sure taste good..

MGJ..Electronics seems difficult at first..but at some point a light bulb comes on and you get it..then everything is just learning how the different components use it..and as a working tech you usually need only ballpark & measure rather than calculate everything..you become digital..feasible or not feasible..a human flow chart..troubleshooting is where I shine and it's a lot more detective work than just measuring..I've watched tech's with a fresh degree in their hands..give them a board..a schematic..all they need and say fix it..It's interesting to see the different approaches..some fail miserably..
Production electronics makes things real interesting and you must have the detective skill..you get stuff that has never had power on it before..solder and trace bridges..wrong components installed..
electrolytic caps exploding..I've walked into the production room screaming my head off about that more than once..it's like a fire cracker going off in your face.. :pointlaug
pontiac..funny..that's what the circuit I built does..lock down an op amp comparator's output until the unit has been fully warmed up..anyway 20kHz that explains the rest to me..I thought they might be running a higher freq..couldn't see how they could sustain the peak at 60Hz..but I see now it's probably pulse modulation
narrow peaks but a lot more often..The idea is great behind them..longevity is my main concern..magnetic ballasts have been around for awhile..I have digi-ballasts in my halogen track lighting...btw a dimmer for those costs more than all the track lights combined..all 9 are still fine..on airplanes they fail faster than a one leg man at an ass kicking contest..the suppliers can't keep up..they are always out of stock..meanwhile the old mag ballasts keep going..and when they fail it usually just needs a new cap..
All that said..that's on an airplane..they are vibration machines..lightbulbs don't last long either..especially on the tail..and most PC boards need to be conformal coated..
So I don't know about HID digi-ballasts..haven't studied them yet..might just go that route..not having that big inductive power factor phasing going on is nice though..
When they match the warranty..I'll feel better about them..when the big companies don't jump all over them..It makes me wonder why..
For your project..they have a card you can get at radio shack that illuminates when lit up by infrared..if you decide iR LED's will work better..gives you a way to see um..and test tv remotes..we used them in optoelectronics..using a iR LED to transmit data and a iR transistor to receive it..

Well that big BD seedling was a male..and was put to death...I forget that thing was a month old..I wasn't even looking..his balls were hangin out for all to see..

Garlic..missed your post..what are you talking about..I'm now pursuing a career as a dirty old contractor..electricians wallets are far fatter than electronic techs..

That one bud shot looks so much like a dick..it cracks me up :biglaugh:

:friends: Well Pack does this mean I can start calling you sparky?

Electrical is a great trade you stay clean don't have to work hard and your wallet is always overflowing. :biglaugh: Damn it I should have listened to my Dad all of those years when he told me to be an electrician. :bat: :wallbash: :asskick:

That last Asskick smilie is my dad kicking my ass for not listening to him. :yoinks:

PN2P do you have penis envie of that bud? :biglaugh: It is a B U T Ful pic though.

Hmm you have a point about the HID digiballasts. i find it awefully suspicious that warrenties for them lasts for abut 2 or 3 years; 5 for the more expensive brand name ones. While magnetic ballasts usually has a minimum of 5 years; 10 for the more expensive ones. And youre right, magnetic ballasts are a hell of alot easier to repair with dirt cheap parts available in any local lighting store and online. You got me thinking pack, i might have to reconsider about getting a digiballast.

I'm not here to make any penis jokes about your cola P2NP. I swear. :nanana:

Sounds like you guys got too much work on the brain. As a cannabis doctor I'm going to have intervene and say you are all suffering from overwork exhaustion.
P2NP I think you should eat 2 cannabrownies and call me in the morning. :listen2:

Georgeous cola shot packn, even if it does look like a cock a bit.

Man, you said a mouthful. Perception and experience makes all the difference. Without these a certificate is as relevent as kindling. I enjoy diagnostics / problem solving myself, same issues apply in the network field.

I think I'm going to look for one of those modular 500 project electronic lab kits. Would be a fun way to refresh my old knowledge and get a taste for newer stuff. They look to be pretty cheap and much better than long long ago...

Re: Digiballasts... If I lived where power was reasonable I'd wait. The grow has more than doubled our electric bill. My grow just isn't that big... So keeping my current ballast as a backup I wanted to put in a 240v digi and try to cut consumption a 20-30%. But man, no point if they fail at a high rate... Although at HIDHut's prices I could buy 2 to have my own "loaner" in case repairs are needed.

GCG..I've been called a Sparky for the last decade..I'm going from one type of electrical position to another..it should be a sweet gig if it all works out..

pontiac..who knows..this may be the way it's going.. I just need more facts first..I probably won't get anything till winter..I'm gonna need the heat..

TML16..Glad you enjoyed the cock..I mean bud..Hey did you get these brownies from MGJ..

MGJ..Troubleshooting is part of everyday life..just a systematic way of solving problems..
You're probably powered by PG&E Pockets Gouged & Empty..I hear ya..they may just work out fine..even if it does give up in a few years..
it may have already paid for itself and then some.. :chin:

Well I'm sitting here typing in a lot of pain..my lower back is sprained..and I can't sit or stand without a ton of pain..
it sprains about twice a year now and it's getting easier to do..this time I did it just sitting down..
feels like someone jammed a screwdriver in the spine..just body balance aggrevates it..
I can't pick up the plants...or water buckets without extreme pain..1 gallon more than a foot from my body is killer pain..
Either way I slothed around and got everything watered..and transplanted the BD seedlings into #1P pots 2.6 Qt(L)..
I made a new mix of soilless: 2/3 Scott's potting soil + 1/3 Coco-gro coir + extra perlite..The coir really helps it from compacting..
I soaked one of those free bricks of cocogro while we were getting all that rain..
I like the consistency of the mix..the plants didn't even blink at the transplant..and I gave them their 1st full meal..

I kinda like this pic..it's also an optical illusion the wood and angle make appear like a trapezoid..
since I killed the old one..these will be BD 1-4 Left to Right, Front to Back

Frosted Flakes...Tony says they're Grrrrrrreat!!

Growdate: Beginning of Day 102..Flower: Day 58 12/12(Growdate from dry seed)

So this is it..any day now..just gonna let the pots dry up a bit..might take the herm tomorrow..I've seen seeds that look good on both AD2 & CW1..
The herm looks to have the thickest frost..the other two AD's keep pouring it on..
The CW's are behind in maturity and are on AN 2+ bloom program nutes 1000ppm with Overdrive..
They are fatting up a bit now..but looks like they could go several more weeks..

I hobbled down and took a couple shots.. :nanana:

Sorry to hear about your back P2NP.
Once again you are lucky I have my medical bag with me, and can easily prescribe 2 cannabrownies (the ones I snabbed from MGJ's kitchen) after each meal. Also 3 bong loads per hour. Do this while watching re-run episodes of Gilligans island. NO HEAVY COLA lifting.

oooh the AD's are almost ready :chin:

BD baies are looking extremely happy.

I guess I could shoot over and water, and tend your garden for you while your back is out.
For a small nuggy fee of course :sasmokin:

hey packn that was a nice grow man...

but what i want to know is... what strain was these pics of?

ive never seen anything like that before... i would be gutted if i grew a crop that ended up with buds like this!!!

This is all air bud not dense at all..what the..

This is the ugliest pic of a grow bar-none..and it was all mine..look away it's hideous..

Just lovely..POTM here I come..

Sweet buds dude..what kinda nutes you using

TML16..am I to stack the new brownie prescription on top of the other prescription..need to budget my cannabuttermilk to go with it...

BLunTeD4LifE..I knew those pics would come back to haunt me..
"unknown" strain but suspect they were the same seeds I'm growing now...the Cindy Williams..which are a not stabilized cross..
totally experimental..just crossed a squat pheno CW with AD..on this grow..

Flushed the AD clones again..man they look ragged but still alive..tiny bits of growth...now it's a mission to see if I can rehabilitate them..
BD's still liking their new shoes...AD's pouring on the sugar..CW's fatting up..except CW2..looks just like those ugle pics above..
I'll start to show CW4's progress more after I butcher the AD's..CW4 & CW1 look like they might finish strong..starting to trich up..

Hiya packn!
Man, so sorry to hear about your back - I empathize man. Hot soak time - take 2 cannabrownies every 2 hours until you can't remember to keep your eyes open - when you wake up you will feel much better :yoinks: TML's prescription will get you there too

Yup - you guessed it, Pockets Gouged & Empty. :biglaugh: Good one!

Those BubbleDust girls sure are a deep forest green! And of course your AD colas, what can I say - we gotta get you into heavy cola lifting training. Bench press one, bong smoke 2, bench press one, cannacookie 2....

Feel better soon :friends:
