Ganja growing adventure by SK

High folks!

It's been while since I posted a full grow diary here. This grow is something I want to share with all of you. Actually I'm quite excited about this run and I have a good feeling about it. This is going to be my best grow so far.

Here is the setup:
Strain: 9 Silver Haze clones (Sensi Seeds)
Light: 600w HPS
Container size: 16 litre (4 gal) pots with modular scrog screens
Soil mix: 60% Biolan soil 40% Biobizz coco
Nutrients: Biobizz BioGrow, BioBloom and TopMax

The Silver Haze clone is the same clone some of you might remember from my previous grows. Farmer John has grown it too and posted pictures here. The clone grows very fast and responds very well to LST so it will be perfect for this setup. The clone is matures fast too. It will be ready around 60 days 12/12 and yields good when tied down.

I'm doing this grow Super Simple Scrog style. Each container will have its own screen attached to it. This way manipulating the scrog canopy will be easier and the pots can be rotated so each plant will get about the same amount of light in the long run. Here is a link to bigfatj's OG thread on Super Simple Scrog http://www.overgrow.com/edge/showthread.php?t=459158. I have done a couple of basic scrog grows with 150w HPS but this is my first scrog with a bigger setup and also my first try with SSS.

Everybody hop on the magic carpet, light up your joints and take a ride with me into the unknown.

Lets begin then, shall we. Here are the clones after I planted them at day 1.

I went on a trip for a few days right after planting them and didn't water them enough. When I came back the soil was all dry and the new growth was yellowish. Some had purple stems. To tell you the truth I wasn't sure if two of them would survive. I hit them with some BioGrow and wished for the best.

Day 6

Plants are recovering and starting to grow. Some of them are still a little yellow.

Day 9 (today)

As you can see they have recovered. Color is turning back to green and biggest plants are over 20 cm tall. I will top the biggest ones today and attach the screens around 25 cm above the containers.

Screen size 33cm x 33cm. 9 screens will fill nicely 1m2.

SCROG is not originaly ment to be used with so many plants...

mosess187: Bigger yield if you do it right. Easier to keep the buds on same level so they all get an equal amount of light. It is also more work than natural style growing. You can't really leave the grow alone and untrained until about 3 weeks 12/12 with this strain because it stretches a lot.

Agnes: I don't know about that. I think 1 plant per square foot is good for scrog in soil. That means 9 plants per square metre which is a good footprint for 600w HPS. Also more plants less veg time. This isn't basic scrog either. Each plant will be trained to its own screen so they can be moved around. My goal is to get 25-30 tops per screen. I'm not in a hurry so I can veg as long as I need to.

Day 13

Biggest plant with screen attached

Not much happening yet. Just waiting for the plants to really take off and start hitting the screens. This soil mix seems to have less nutrients than the one I used before. I couldn't find the same brand of soil so I had to buy different one. The plants start yellowing as soon as I give them pure water only. They need their fix of BioGrow every watering it seems.

Looks good bro, I've noticed the same damn thing about Biolan, I thought I was seriously overfeeding but the bastard soil is low-nute compared to Kekkilä and Kekkilä is just simply better....better stick to Kekkilä I think...

Looks good SK :yummy:

Welcome immortal and good luck.

All the screens have been installed and almost all plants have reached their screens. There are two runty plants that are a little behind. These are the same two that almost died in the beginning. That mistake I made set them back. 8 plants have been topped and one runt was left untopped because it grew so slow and I wanted it to reach the screen about the same time as the others.

Day 18

Now the fun part begins. The biggest plants are already branching real nice and training is easy with this strain because the branches are soft, bend well and grow fast.

This is going to be interesting, I've never seen this kind of scrog grow!! Looking good bro!!...and what comes to that Biolan soil, it sucks big time....waste of money....Kekkilä is way to go....peace...

Thanks BG. First time I see this kind of grow live too. So simple and easy. This definately won't be my last try with this technique. Gotta love the scrog.

Day 25

Lots of training and tying going on now. I haven't cut off any leaves yet. I've been able to tuck them under the screen but now some of the screens are so full with leaves that I have to start cutting them off soon.

The difference between the biggest plants and the runt is quite big. That's why I put the runt in the middle spot straight under the bulb and the other two smallest plants next to it in the middle row. This way they get the best light. The biggest plants are in the corners to keep them from overgrowing their screens. I think about two more weeks of veg will be needed to fill all of the screens nicely.

Looks good bro, how about the stretch of SH? Have you thought of that? Those plants seem to be big enough to stretch a lot when forced, should fill the screens ok, LOL!...anyhoo, looks good.
