here i am after a year and still dealing with this pest, i finally got a miscroscope cam and have pics, to me they have no tailpipes, i need help to identify these
Not root aphids, those are H. Miles or very similar species. Like Moses said, they are predators, not plant/root eating organisms, thus aren't hurting your plants.

Do you actually have any issues, or have you just been noticing these for a year?

They are very difficult to get rid of, but it's senseless to even try, because you'd likely be putting your plants through unnecessary stress. That and like Moses also said, they feast on FG and thrip larvae... people actually pay for them as a biological form of pest control...

Yup..i already had H.miles in my soil but i thought they felt lonely so i introduced 10,000 more lol.

F**k you Fungus gnats!

Haha can't let your H. Miles be lonely... I had thousands of them at one time, meanwhile not a FG or thrip to ever be seen. Then all of the sudden they started to decline, now I only see one every once in a while, and FG seem to be back.

I kind of miss them...

that scope was 18.50 cheapest one i found it on ebay 18.50 shipped

my plant issues are those of root aphids, leaf curling up i thought it was nutes or ph for about 6 mo

i did orthane riptide a month ago, saw a flying darting fast bug the next morning, still see them almost daily.

I inspected my roots so throughly and the mite was all i could fing, i havent had any good weed in over as year.

i have no bugs what so ever on buds or leaves, i am so sad, mad, frusterated and no med in my state so i am on my own.

my roots got fried from the riptide/orthane but have patches of white fuzzy healthy roots slowly comming back

thanks for the replies and opinions.

ya sorry, i dont really know what i'm doing i thought the pic uploaded and it dissapeared, twice.

anyways that plant was both overwatered and over nuted, it was my first misteak trying to fix the problom and a old pic about 8 mo old

slow stunted growth about 3 weeks into flower, like i said i thought it was ph and nutes and ended up really screwing it up trying to fix it, the plant already didnt like soggy mediums and the damaged roots made it basically stay wet for over a week

thanks for the help guys, and when i google search flying root aphid i get a bug like in my other pics. imma be restarting from seed in a few weeks most likely.

Those are bulb mites, another root pest.
I was under the impression that bulb mites were named that because they were host specific for which they are named. Are you saying that bulb mites attack cannabis roots?

Also, bulb mites are whitish with red/brown appendages according to current literature.

First sign of RA damage is nutrient lockout. More nutrients are usually added to combat the deficiencies and then the overfert sets in and the plants are worse off. The over watering is usually due to the roots/ plant being damaged and people continue to water as normal but the plant only wants half as much. Letting the medium dry out is a huge deal while dealing with these buggers. The orthene is the way to go and will not burn your plants at all. Use separately or mix it with your favorite pyrethroid or pyrethrin, however I would flush them after 2-3 hours to rinse off the pyrethrin/pyrethroid. A flush is not needed or advised with the orthene, so I recommend using it first, then the next day when medium dries out, water with the pyrethrins, let sit for a couple hours, then rinse it out and add half strength nutes. Repeat in 7 days, then again in another 7. Your aphids will be gone.

Here's my root aphid grow at day 28. Met 52, mycotrol, nematodes, essential oils, and hypoasis were attempted with no success. Kontos was reluctantly applied at week 1 and seems to be helping. Wish I had used orthene looking back becuase the numbers are still quite overwhelming.
Gonna use imid in veg too next time.

The bigger the grow, the harder the fight is.... especially when using organic methods! I have a small medi grow and grow organically, I hated to stoop to using the Orthene + Pyrethrum combo but after close to a year of dealing with them I was past my wits end from all the flyers, the PM, and other nasties that started attacking my grow/sick plants. I used that combo twice last January, once in veg then again first week of bloom..... knock on wood but I've been RA free ever since!!! It will burn your leaves edges thee f**k up LOL but that's why you hit em early enough to repair themselves. One of my bros says it does something to the pH of the mix and causes the micronutes to became toxic over a few days..... he tried pH'ing it and flushing the pots, still burns em but not as bad. I've heard from several of my bros that I gave the recipe to and a few have said the combo even killed broads, nematodes, spidermites, gnats, etc., etc. a true END ALL!!

I've broke their asses off using a tbsp/gal of Cap's bennies Foliar every watering too but that's a longer and far more expensive solution than the combo is.... hell it don't even look like I used any, the can & bottle look untouched.
And last but not least, my nugs tested clean after using the combo too!
