The Nightshade Series

Also made by Cold Steel knives

The lightweight Nightshade series knives are made from Grivory the latest in fiberglass reinforced plastic, and stronger than even the super tough Zytel, they are UV and heat stabilized, making them impervious to the elements. One of the most unique features of these knives is their handles. They are made from deeply checkered Kraton that has been molded directly to the blade tangs. The use of Kraton in knife handles offers a superior, slightly tacky gripping surface that is unaffected by heat, cold, or moisture. It never rusts, warps, cracks or splits even in the most extreme environments.

The Nightshade knives are light enough to be tied, tucked, or taped just about anywhere on one's person. And, since they are impervious to heat, cold, moisture and extreme weather they are a natural to hide both inside and outside your house. They can be hidden virtually everywhere from the hedges and flowerpots in your yard, to the refrigerator, bookshelves, and closets in your house. Keep one in every room of the house, from the laundry room to the bathroom shower! With violent home invasions on the rise a strategically placed Nightshade could save the day, and even your life.

Thanks Bababooey! The US bayonet pictured is for an M1-M2 Carbine, not the M1 Garand! The M1 carbine is a shorter carbine favored by officers due to it's lighter weight and fired a .30 cal carbine round with a 110 grain bullet. It didn't have as much punch as the 30-06 M1 Garand. It was also used in the Pacific theater for knocking snipers out of palm trees. The M2 carbine was a full auto model! yes I do have the exact model it's from, made by Rockola...LOL! Yea everyone did as much as they could for the war effort, a juke-box mfg. made rifled for WWII alone with the US Postal meter co, the Underwood Typewriter factory and on and on! Don

Note to Self: Never try to sneak up on Stoner4Life. He could have his back to you, digging in his garden, and then he turns around and bam! he's got an assassin's dirk in his hand! I don't even want to know how many pistolas you got around your property. Although those are more susceptible to rust than knives...

BF: Sounds like you got the knife addiction. Yeah, I dont need any more addictions in my life: I'm trying to get rid of my paraphernalia addiction. I think if I just buy a Roor I'll be done.
:rasta:
Angelina Jolie had a fascination with knives when she was younger, during her Billy Bob years. Now that she's Brangelina she's probably got 24 hour armed security around her. Guess the only thing better than a knife is a bodyguard with a gun...

DC: Didnt know a juke box mfr made rifles for WWII. The country really pulled itself together during that time. You read books about that era and the whole country was behind the war: meatless fridays so there'd be more meat for soldiers, collecting peach pits for gas masks, etc. Not like nowadays, when half the country is for the war and half against, although we're all behind the soldiers. Those poor bastards, risking their lives over there.... I hope they all make it home safely.
Yeah, i figured since it was the carbine it wouldnt fit the garand. so does that have a magazine? is that basically like the M14, with a less powerful cartridge? i think special forces still uses the m14 when a full power battle rifle is needed (on the rare occasion you need to reach out and touch someone at 1000 yards :rasta: plus full auto to boot).
I knew a guy who was way into WWII. his dream was to have been a ranger in europe. i'd have liked to been a hero too but storming a nazi-held beach without armor support is something i would have liked to pass on - no fun being target practice for a german machinegun crew (that mg42 was a real buzzsaw  say what you want about the germans in that time, but they made some damn fine weapons). the guy had a bunch of wwii era rifles, but didnt have the garand. he showed me an inch thick piece of steel plate with holes in it: those full power rifle bullets went through it like a knife through butter. guess the philosophy back then was: if you can take a moose down, you can take a human down. :joint:

Yes Bab I do lol

my addictions: the outdoors, seeds, knives, guns, good coffee, troublesome women

Don, that Stormtrooper Dagger is amazing, I don't have anything as historical as that. Hell, makes me want to go to the museum and check out the blades.

All this thinking about knives has tapered my seed buying addiction :D

hey, btw, I've been keen on tempering my opinions of knives & their uses to strictly being carried for self defense reasons only, after all w/the exception of rants here and on other boards we're all mostly a VERY laid back & peaceful community. This thread so far has been kept and needs to be kept that way or it'll be closed, jmho.

and yeah bababooey I sure do. In fact I sleep with one right under my pillow, if my crib is getting busted into in the middle of the night I want something a little bit more deadly than that days dirty socks as a weapon.......

Bababooey, Yes the M1 carbine has a detachable magazine, 15 rounds and 30 rounds! It's a straight walled cartridge, with out the top of the case necked down. Not alot longer than a .357 mag round. Not a bad weapon for out to 200 yards but not much farther! Like I said the officers liked em because they were half the weight of a Garand, with only about a 1/3 of the knockdown power!

Thanks basilfarmer, I'll never part with the Stormtroopers Dagger, it'll be passed down to one of my sons!

flubnutz thats one badassed blade you've got their!!! I sure hope that skull is removable, it's in a bad spot! Love the filework!!!

cellardweller, my brother from another mother! Those Katanas are beautiful and expensive!!! Every yardsale I go to I ask the folks haveing it, "A guy at another yard sale said that you have an old sword or dagger for sale" I'm still waiting for someone to go in their house and come out with an old WWII Katana or Military dagger and say it was granddads and it's just takeing up space, we don't want it around anymore cause of the kids! No bites after 20 some years, but madey one day I'll find one! I cant wait till you start to post some of your collection!!!

BF: You're a connoisseur of good coffee, huh? I love my coffee too, but im strictly a morning cup kind of guy, and I'm fine with the offerings at sams club, even the canned stuff if its 100% arabica. Have you ever roasted your own beans? I hear it's not hard, all you need is a copper pot? Guess it can't get any freshed than roasting it and then making the coffee, although you couldn't do that every morning of course...

FN: I wonder how effective those push daggers would be in a fight? more so than a regular single bladed knife? obviously your slashing damage would suffer with a push dagger, but your piercing attack would be devastating up close...
Seems like the push dagger would be most effective when the opponent doesn't know you have a weapon. you could hold it and it's possible it wont be seen...

DC: So it's basically a submachinegun chambered in a cartridge more powerful than a .357 mag? u think it's more powerful than a 10mm cartridge? i think the USP in 10mm is the most common special forces weapon for urban/indoors missions. up close, like say within 15 yards, it probably has close to the same stopping power as an M16.
I hope you find that Imperial dress katana. it might need a lot of work if you do find one in an attic somewhere...

CD: Nice pair. You didn't get the long and the short sword, the wakizashi or whats it called? do they have scabbards?
they look plenty sharp, bet you could get a good whack with one of those...

Bab, I have roasted green coffee beans in the oven with a pyrex pie plate, took some practice but eventually got it right. The coffee was amazing, but not worth the pain; and the ir is bad for your eyes. I really want to get one of those vacuum reverse infusion coffee makers, the coffee is supposed to be second to none!

I love Damascus steel.... I have a few blades, and they really are the shit.

I have a fully equipped forge (now in storage) and have started to learn how to laminate steel and make my own Damascus...I just need the free time to practice.

The knives I have (purchased, not made myself) are mostly 15N20 nickel steel laminated with 1095 high carbon steel, hardened to about 58-60 Rockwell. I have a trio of folders and a super nice 10" throwing blade at the moment.

I'll try to get some pics up of them soon....

genkisan we'll be waiting for them pix!!!

Heres my BEIL-AX a throwin axe designed by John Baily! I found it at a local gun show and bought a pair for my son and I. Their really fun for campin trips and walks in the woods. It's hard not to get it to stick unless you miss the tree! We'll find a nice wide standing dead wood tree and have a fun time just throwing at a drawn target and retrivein! It came with a nice nylon belt sheath and its made of stainless steel!

FN: gotta love the damascus design, makes a blade look even more menacing, not that we're interested in that.
:joint:

BF: by ir you mean infrared radiation (from an electric oven)? because you had to keep opening the oven to check the beans? yeah, that doesnt sound too good.
never even knew about vacuum coffee makers before. looks... very interesting.
googled it, says it brews coffee using water at the perfect temperature, so none of the oil and flavors are lost. interesting....
That Kriss SMG in .45 is badass. "unique recoil system focuses recoil downward, so it's better able to control" u think having the recoil down instead of back makes that big of a difference? that host of Future Weapons has the best job, he's a bit of douche, but he does know his weapons.

GK: Ur very lucky to have a forge that can melt steel. can you work glass in it, too?
I didnt understand any of those numbers. Is it the lower the number, the harder it is?

DC: Thats a wicked looking throwing weapon! what is that, about a foot from tip to tip? does that hang on your belt pointing up or down? they look pretty thin, can you stack like 2-3 of them on your belt? is it accurate out to 20 yards? takes a lot of practice to get good with it, i imagine, plus your arm would get tired and you'd get less accurate. how much does it weigh? it's all metal, im thinking about 7-8 lbs...

Don, That throwing axe looks like a lot of fun!

I found it here: www.throwzini.com/beil-ax_desc.html

for only $26 I might order one, will be great for those pesky collection agents j/k

beil-ax13.jpg

Bab, those coffee makers are pure mad science - the water boils and condenses in the top with the grounds, then as it cools the space left from where the water was creates a vacuum and gently sucks perfect coffee back down into the pot, and your right, that future weapons guy is a bit of a douche lol fyi-the best personal weapon right now is the hk416 - but they have to convert it to 6.5 grendel before they get my stamp of approval lol, the reliability of this small arm is out of this world; and the 6.5 round rivals 308 in preformance with less space and less kick  finally an acceptable 223 alternative
...when money permits, i'm geting a coffee roaster, better grinder & one of those vacuum things
