No problem washing in some phosphoric acid, it should be fairly cheap as well. If not, work the triple.

Milk believe it or not, is a good P and Ca source in an amino acid form. Powdered milk works extremely well. 20 or 30 grams at a time of powdered milk is a decent dosis. You could push it upto 40 or even 50 grams (mixed in water first).

Always water first and then apply it at the end, wash in gently.

Sweet...I'm going phosphorus shopping tomorrow

Home depot phosphoric acid msds shows sulfamic acid and surfactants... I'll try an auto store.

You aren't going to find phosphoric acid at an auto supply store. There is food grade and fertilizer grade, not sure who else uses the stuff.

Battery acid is sulfuric acid I believe.

Skip the p2o5 since you don't care about organic or not you could use a real small shot of mono ammonium phosphate or if you don't want to give them any more n you can get dicalcium phosphate

Unfortunately you won't find those around here. If timing is an issue. Maybe try peaceful valley in grass valley if you're up for a drive.

Thanks Shcrews!

Scratching milk off my list. Going to get some tsp and figure out how to use it. I looked those 2 up caterpillar and dont see anything local, whats cps?

Crop production services I think. I think there's one in sac.

I've checked the feed stores. There's one that might have it. I'll pm you. They have a lot of seed too.

Let me know if you find them anywhere.

I have to go with tsp for its price and availability. Ordering online / driving far isn't happening. I'm reading its label, it says you top dress, but you guys water it in with a days soaking prior? Do you make a concentrated solution and add a fraction of the volume to a barrel of water to = ~60 ppm?

Edit...this is my plan unless someone can advise otherwise

Hopefully 5# is enough

All I need right now is phosphorus and im trying to figure out how to use tsp because ive never used it before...I might call around and weigh my options but most likely getting the tsp today and putting some in water for tomorrow

I understand trial and error is key but dont want to not make enough and run out. Any rough figures on tsp:water ratio? If not I'll figure it out one way or another.

Edit...so im just going to dump a bag of tsp in a 5 gallon bucket, pull from it as needed, and keep it sitting in there dissolving for as long as it lasts. I'll check my barrels ppm reading before/after adding it to keep it as accurate as possible

Gotta pull out the calculator. I calculate how much I need for 1000 gal or whatever then dissolve that in a 5 gal and throw it in the pool.

Tsp is 0-46-0 I think. So if you want enough for 50 gallons to be 60 ppm here's the math. I can't do it in my head so you'll have to solve it:

60*3.785 = x (x = how much elemental p per gallon you need)

x*50 gal = y

y/0.44 = z (z= total amount of p2o5 needed for 50 gal since it's 44% P)

z/0.46 = a (a= total amount of tsp you need since it's 46% p2o5)

But then you divide a by your tsp's solubility. So a/0.75 (if it's 75% soluble).

I'd try crushing it up in the bucket as well as using a pump to agitate for a while. Not sure how concentrated you could make it. Maybe you can just dump it all like you said and agitate with a pump. But taking constant readings to get it right in the barrel is annoying, hence the math.

Lets see if 5 lbs is enough. General rule is one ounce of fert in a hubdred gallons is 75 ppm. That would be around 56 ppm with 75% solubility. Almost half of that would be 25 ppm p2o5 and almost half of that would be 10 ppm P. So you need roughly 6 oz TSP per 100 gallon for 60 ppm. 3 oz per 50 gal barrel. 80 ounces in 5 lbs.

So 5 lbs gives you ~27 50 gal barrels of 60 ppm P.

Hope my math is right :D ..can you tell I like fertilizer math lol

Ugh. That makes my head hurt. But thank you. I dumped approx 5 # in a 5 gallon bucket. I'll stir the shit out of it and see how strong it is tomorrow.

I do 33 gallon barrels except 2 get 50. So i guess maybe I'll try giving each barrel 2 ounces next time instead or something...or just top dress it and water it in.

I swear to god im done spending money.

1# gypsum each mound each week

8 grams Mn sulfate
1g Cu sulfate
5g zinc sulfate fertigated 2x a week

2g Boron once divided into all mounds

(Thanks slownickel)
